There is a filter, but it doesn't seem to be designed to need cleaning frequently like some other vacuums. I used the vacuum every day for 5-6 days and the filter appears brand new.I found that on some types of carpet or small rugs, the suction can be almost too much and the vacuum gets difficult to push, but it still cleaned very well. I don't think there is an air bypass to help those situations but switching to low eco mode can help. There is no light on the vacuum brush head if that matters to you.The build quality seems adequate but I hope it holds up over time, only time will tell.Overall I found this an awesome product due to the suction power rivaling upright vacuums on carpet and hard floor, yet in the convenience light weight package of a stick vacuum, while still having usable battery life.

The only downside I have for the V11 is that you have to hold the trigger down the entire time you are using it as there is on real on/off switch. I’m sure there was a reason Dyson chose to do it that way, but it can get annoying. Otherwise, it’s a great machine which I’d definitely recommend.

That’s why we needed another Vacuum for the second floor hence the Dyson V11 Extra.One huge difference between this new 2023 model and the previous models from Dyson is the new de-tangling Motor bar cleaner head deep cleans carpets and hard floors with hair removal vanes that clear long hair and pet hair from the brush bar. This is a very effective new feature that will save me 10 minutes cleaning the brush bar on my other Vacuums every week.When hair gets tangled in a brush bar, the suction power becomes less and the brush bar slows down and doesn’t turn as much which can be a fire hazard.Another great feature of Dyson is that battery life is great, I can clean up to 2500 square feet at least twice before needing to recharge it. the LCD screen shows you how much battery life is left and it also has a button for you to choose suction power depending on floor and maintenance needs if any.The other difference with this cleaning head is that you don’t need to adjust a toggle on the cleaning head to choose between hardwood and carpet, the new technology works on all floors very effectively.Although the suction is very strong thanks to Dyson’s 14 cyclones, its not that loud. This may be my favorite -- even more so than my beloved Dyson "Animal" upright, because of its ease of use, portability and surprisingly powerful engine. As the owner of two large dogs that shed dark hair incessantly, I'm primarily interested in a tool that will pick up all animal hair without clogging or leaving half of them behind. The hair-screw tool is my favorite -- it's particularly effective for handheld removal of pet hair -- but all of the attachments are useful and easy to switch out quickly.After using the V11 a few times, we also noticed that a family member and frequent visitor seemed to be far less affected by allergies to pet dander, sneezing far less and having no issues with watering eyes during visits. We attribute this to the V11's filtration system, which appears to do a far more effective job of sucking up but not expelling allergens into the air. This was a delightful surprise.Other features we appreciate: The Motorbar cleaner head is easy to twist, turn and manipulate under furniture and into corners, and it does equally well on carpet and hardwood without damaging the wood. Battery power is more than adequate for typical home use, cleaning six rooms and a hall with reserve power to spare. Emptying the dirt receptacle is far easier than other models I've owned, thanks to the clever design that slides downward and "pushes" dirt out of the chamber. The LCD screen is attractive, well-placed for visibility and handy to keep track of vacuum mode, battery life and other alerts.The only drawback we noted -- and it's a tiny peeve -- was having to keep our thumb on the start button within the handgrip in order to keep the vacuum running. But that's a small thing, and easy to live with while appreciating all of the other features of this easy-to-operate and easy-to-store machine.

It just looks sleek, modern and very cool. Not things I've ever thought about a standard household item but what you do tend to notice when you're unboxing the V11. The convenience of this cordless design has allowed me to easily clean five bedrooms without the hassle of unwinding a cord or finding a new plug each time.The power and efficiency of this vacuum cleaner have been remarkable. It has three settings - Eco, Medium, and Boost - each one tailored for different cleaning requirements. Medium seems to be the most balanced (go figure) and has become my typical go-to for spot cleaning for both spot cleaning, as well as more time consuming jobs. Econ still works well, and certainly gives just about an hour of cleaning time, but I prefer the balance of Medium. Boost mode is perfect for when things get messy. This allows you to blast through just about every mess with satisfaction.One of the standout features has been its battery life. Lasting for up to 60 minutes, it's enough to clean my entire house without needing a recharge. And when it does need to be recharged, the handy LCD screen provides real-time reporting on performance and run time, so I'm never caught by surprise. I've had other cordless vacuums in the past, and it seems like I could get max 15 minutes without having to pop it back on the charger.Speaking of the LCD screen, it's an excellent addition, making it easy to maintain the vacuum and troubleshoot any issues. Also, the control buttons and simple displays from the V10 have been replaced with the full-color screen and single button from last year’s step-up models.The box it comes in is quite large, but everything is laid out clearly and is well-protected. I definitely appreciate that all of the packing material is recycled cardboard and there’s no huge printed user’s manual - just a single page with a QR code.This particular kit included the wall dock and AC adapter for convenient wall mounting and charging, but you can always just plug the provided cord directly into the vacuum if wall mounting doesn’t meet your needs. It also came with the long extension tube and a floor attachment for making quick work of cleaning carpets and area rugs, as well as hard floors like wood, tile and linoleum. This newer floor attachment has an improved design that makes it less likely to get tangled up from long hairs and other such things that wrapped around prior floor attachments. Speaking of that, there is also a smaller attachment for cleaning car interiors, fabric furniture and other above-floor surfaces and it, too, has an anti-tangle design. I find this smaller attachment great for cleaning pet beds and car floor mats. The usual long nozzle and wide brush-style attachments are also provided but these are the same that I’ve see packaged with Dyson vacuums for years with no noticeable differences or improvements. They’re still useful, but nothing new to see here.This vacuum has no Bluetooth or Internet connectivity, so there’s no app per-se. You can use the My Dyson app or the Dyson web site to register your warranty, see helpful setup and usage videos, read the full user’s manual and order any optional attachments. Setup, otherwise, is simple; just plug in the power cord and charge it up for about 2 hours or until the screen says that it’s ready. All Dyson attachments snap fit easily and several even store in the provided wall dock.When it’s time to empty the dust bin, just remove any attachments and slide the red handle toward the front to eject all dirt into a garbage can or bag. After hand washing and air drying, just reverse the procedure and you’re good to go.There are 3 main vacuum power settings; Eco, Medium and Boost. Medium is the default and is great for everyday use. It’s a balance of suction and battery life that estimates about 60 minutes of continuous vacuuming. Eco extends the battery life but reduces suction so it may be OK for light dust but not serious dirt. Boost is max suction but reduces the battery life by a lot and is great for deep or heavy dirt when you need it.Overall, this Dyson vacuum is a great all-around cleaner with tons of useful features and accessories to meet just about any cleaning need. My Mum refuses to empty it if she ever uses it because she's scared of breaking it.My biggest bugbear - and a massive design flaw in my opinon - is the fine filter. Just when you've got the grottiest bit of hoovering to do, it throws a ploppy about the filter being gunked up. You can unscrew the filter end & bang some dust out, but eventually it refuses to work & insists on being cleaned properly. There are 2 sections to the fine filter, but you can't separate them & they are both stuck in the plastic housing. The only way to clean them is to rinse them in water. You can never get them properly cleaned out because they are stuck in the plastic, and you can't get a tap into the folds of the superfine filter properly.And then, just when you need it most & had to wash the filter.... you have to wait for the filter to dry fully before using it again. Which usually takes about 3 DAYS on a radiator or in the sunshine - again because you can't split the filter into any smaller parts.Do yourself a favour & but something which has been designed better for real world use!

Emptying the dust bin is very easy, and you do it by pressing on a little handle behind the dust bin on the battery side. You release it and push the dirt/dust through the bottom, which pops open. It does a good job of completely emptying the bin with minimal effort.After I vacuumed the stairs, I decided to see how well the vacuum robots were doing (they ran today and almost every day). I cleaned all three rugs, and there was nowhere near as much dirt as the stairs had, but there still was enough dirt that it picked up to say, "At least periodically, the Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum should go over to pick up what the robots missed." I have dust allergies (tested by an allergist), and any dirt or dust I can remove should reduce allergic responses.I strongly recommend this vacuum, which has the best battery I've seen on a cordless. It's light, cleans great, and is very easy to use. Honestly, I didn't even open the manual to set it up and get it running. Everything was straightforward. This is my first Dyson, which lives up to the brand’s reputation (excellent!).

One of the things I really like about this device is how incredibly easy it is to connect and disconnect pieces. This is what makes the vacuum so versatile in my opinion. The attachments connect directly to the motor assembly and it doesn’t take any heavy-lifting to get that accomplished. Out of the box, the vacuum did have a minimal charge to it and after only 2-4 minutes, it was dead. So, I recommend charging it before using it.My primary use of this vacuum is in our house, but I do use it in our cars, too. In our house, we have carpeted, ceramic tile, and linoleum flooring. I have used this vacuum on all those surfaces, as well as furniture upholstery, and small rugs. It works really well — even on the medium level suction, the vacuum picks up a ton of dirt and dust that you otherwise wouldn’t even see. As far as how it does with hair and fur, I’ve not had one issue with the vacuum getting jammed or the rotor getting stuck because of hair. the roller is designed in such a way that those materials just flow through to the dust bin. It’s almost magical.I’ve used a lot of vacuums in my life, but this one has been the best by far. It has no cord to deal with, a full charge is enough to get through the entire house, and it’s very easy to clean out.
