I have had several models of the Dyson Absolute, including V6, V8, V10, V11. The V8 is better than the V6, and I can’t stand the V10 & 11 because of the cumbersome design that doesn’t even stand up straight when placed on the floor. The V8 is mighty and does it all! The batteries wear out after a few years of daily use, but you can get replacement batteries and parts on the company website. I have rebuilt all of my Dyson V8s and my D6 several times. Super easy, inexpensive, and no need to get a new vacuum…disposing of old vacuums only adds to landfill waste and utilizes electronic recycling for motors and batteries. I have two for outside (V6 & V8) to clean up after my goats and vacuuming the patio, and a V8 in the house for home and vehicles. I love the attachments ... It is a pain(ish) to wrap a small bag around the bottom of the container when emptying the dust, and that is why Dyson changed the design starting with the V10 model, but I still prefer the V8. It’s smaller, easier to use, and is a stellar vacuum.

I’ve had this vacuum for about 5 years and it’s great (still works! Though the battery is beginning to struggle a bit now). I just has the unit cleaned and the Hepa filter replaced. This was just amazing to have with two young kids and hardwood/flooring on the ground floor and carpet upstairs. It was easy enough to bring up or down, whenever disaster struck. It didn’t cause any scratches or damage to the hardwood. It was also useful to clean corners and webs.We moved a few times, we also used it to turnover properties- clean cupboards, edges, drawers and everything. It’s suction continued really well despite how intensely we used it.Also, it’s been light and easy enough for my 70 year old mom to use, which was great for her. A standard upright is a challenge ... I've literally owned this vacuum for 4 years (a slightly older model) and it has never worked right. We brought it to the Dyson doctor to fix about a year after we bought it, it ran again for about 6 months before only functioning on and off again.I am so fed up with the lack of quality and inconsistency. We have to wash and clean the filter once a week, take apart the vacuum and then there is only a 50% chance that it will work. I can't believe that for the price and name Dyson, this product is such a dud. Is it too much to ask for a consistent vacuum that works everyday? I am at a loss of what to do, but ordering another Dyson vacuum is not on my list. Perhaps we received a fluke in a manufactured product and this is a one off? I was so excited to get this ... I purchased my dyson v8 absolute direct from dyson. I've never owened a dyson before until now either. I loved the idea of cordless vaccums but couldn't find a good one that would actually do well and clean carpets. I have bought a few and ended up returning. Got tired of going back and forth hunting for the next best cordless. Finally I decided to snap and get this. After many reviews this was the best one essentially for hardwood and high pile carpet. So I bite the bullet and bought it. I've only had it a day but it vacuumed my carpets better than my old corded vaccum. Suction was beyond better than I expected and all the different attachments are really nice. I haven't had ir long enough to speak to how well it will run long term or last but so far I am very ... I recently purchased the Dyson V8 Absolute after reading rave reviews. I chose it as it was lightweight and semi-affordable on sale. The positives- great suction, easy to empty, fairly lightweight, easily maneuverable. I can see that the right cordless stick vacuum will be a life changer! Key word- RIGHT. Because it is definitely not this Dyson.I will be returning the V8 and I will explain why. A minor issue is that one of the adhesive strips is already coming up from the smooth rollerhead attachment after using it twice. Second, It is not as quiet as I had hoped. However my biggest problem is that my forearm gets extremely sore holding the trigger switch to keep the vacuum powered on. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, chronic tennis elbow so need to stop every few minutes due to pain and forearm cramping and occasional fingers locking up. Yes, I read the reviews about this silly function but really had hoped it wouldn't be an issue. Turns out I was wrong. I spoke with a live chat person and she informed me that only the V12 has a switch that can stay powered on without holding. How the heck did Dyson get this SO WRONG? And with almost every model? For how many years? How is it that a huge, reputable company such as Dyson that prides itself on innovative DESIGN came up with the most terrible design?? How did someone not think about people that may have medical issues that may make this function difficult to impossible?! My disability is mild and I struggled so I cannot even imagine some with other conditions! MILLIONS of people out there could benefit from a simple change! Why not make the energy saver function and OPTION and have a lever to keep on if desired?? PLEASE start making all models with a function to help those with disabilities that may make it difficult to hold that piece down. It was hard to spend $400 for this vacuum on sale so I cannot afford to buy the V12 and personally I am not sure if I even want a Dyson product any longer due to this gigantic oversight. What a disappointment.
I bought this about four months ago and we have generally been happy with it. However, I am really unhappy with its performance on carpets. We have carpets with a moderate pile height and the rotating brush head stops rotating on them. I reached out to Dyson to ask if they have any brush heads that are good for carpets and they said no. Seriously? Dyson has no brush heads for carpets with any sort of pile on them? I bought this because I have a dog that sheds and I was intrigued by the claim that Dysons are the best for pet hair. How can they make this claim if the vacuums don't work on carpets that collect pet hair? If you have low pile carpets and hard floors in your house, this is great. I do also like the attachments for other purposes like the crevice tool and the dusting tools. But not being able to get dog hair out a carpet is a pretty big issue when you're paying $400. I'm glad I didn't get a nicer more expensive model as it sounds like those don't work on carpets with pile either!!
I’ve bought this vacuum around 7 months ago and I’m definitely quite pleased with my purchase. I also got lucky because it was like $150 off the regular price, so it was basically a steal. But I’d still happily and gladly purchase it at its regular full price any day, as it’s for sure worth it. One of the cool things about Dyson vacuums is the number of different attachments that come with them, as well as there being additional specialty attachments available for separate purchase (such as the car cleaning attachments package available for this vacuum, which I highly recommend too, btw) another thing that literally all Dyson products are known for is their sleek, stylish, and intelligent design that makes them products you don’t want or have to hide and can proudly ... MoreI’ve bought this vacuum around 7 months ago and I’m definitely quite pleased with my purchase. I also got lucky because it was like $150 off the regular price, so it was basically a steal. But I’d still happily and gladly purchase it at its regular full price any day, as it’s for sure worth it. One of the cool things about Dyson vacuums is the number of different attachments that come with them, as well as there being additional specialty attachments available for separate purchase (such as the car cleaning attachments package available for this vacuum, which I highly recommend too, btw) another thing that literally all Dyson products are known for is their sleek, stylish, and intelligent design that makes them products you don’t want or have to hide and can proudly have them out on display without it looking bad. Both of these Dyson attributes makes storage of the vacuum when not in use great due to the wall mount that comes with the vacuum and the fact that it incorporates the charger into it as well as holding all the many different specialty attachments in a nice, stylish, and functional design. So everytime you clip your vacuum into the mount (which includes all necessary hardware to hang on any wall you choose) it automatically begins charging whilst being hung up and put away. To preserve the integrity of the battery, I suggest unplugging the charger cord from the wall once the vacuum is fully charged so it’s not constantly plugged in and charging. A third thing all Dyson products are known for-and what truly sets them apart from their competitors-is the motors they use + the way the product uses it’s motor efficiently and works in tandem with it’s smart design for much better results than it’s competition. Dyson vacuums have become world famous and so desirable for all of these reasons, but especially because of how well the product works and the fact that no Dyson vacuums lose their suction power at any point; they always keep their same strong suction from the very moment you first pull the trigger and begin vacuuming, all the way until you let go of the trigger ten minutes later without ever once allowing the vacuum to stop. Other vacuums have always started out with strong suction when you first cut them on and then their suction power quickly fades away and loses its power over time. Dyson invented motors and technology to avoid this from ever happening and they were industry innovators immediately. Virtually all competitors immediately copied the iconic look of Dyson vacuums and their signature cyclonic design, but none of them were able to copy Dysons powerful motors and ability to retain full suction power at all times. This is what sets Dyson apart, and in case you’re wondering why Dyson vacuums cost more than some competitors that may appear to look the same and trick consumers into thinking they’re the same product for less cost, it’s because those competitors don’t have anywhere near the power of Dyson or it’s lossless power or the quality battery or any of the great attachments that come standard with Dyson. This is the “Animal” model of the V8, meaning that it’s got some specialty attachments that are designed specifically to pick up hair from any surface, which is great for any pet owner, as there’s a regular full length floor attachment that’s motorized itself to pick up all hairs, as well as a smaller motorized attachment that goes directly on the vacuum itself-not the ling tube made to reach the floor-so you can clean off furniture or stairs more easily while still having a specialty attachment that moves and spins itself and is designed to be able to pick up hair. These attachments really do pick up every last speck of dirt, dust, and, of course, hair. And they do so with just one single pass. It’s truly impressive. I also love how there’s a power switch you can toggle from regular/normal strength to max suction/power for extra dirty messes. Another great innovation with Dyson vacuums is how you’re able to completely take apart every single last bit of the vacuum AND the attachments to remove any clogs as well as to clean the vacuum and both of its filters-which should be done regularly. It’s very simple and easy to open up or remove certain parts to do this as well, and there are highly detailed videos on exactly how to do so for each individual vacuum. This is also handy in case a particular part of your vacuum breaks or needs replacing, because you can buy certain parts for the vacuum as well, so that simple fact further justifies the price of Dyson vacuums, as they’re an investment that’ll last for quite some time, and if anything becomes damaged, you can buy the particular part you need directly from Dyson and easily install it and fix your vacuum. So if something is wrong with your Dyson, don’t throw it away, just buy the particular part you need and replace it. The parts are cheap too. And they sell literally every single piece of the vacuum individually, all the way down to the plastic bin that holds the rubbish it vacuums up. The vacuum itself is also very lightweight and super easy to maneuver around. I was initially skeptical if this tiny handheld cordless would suffice as the sole vacuum for an entire house, but I very quickly realized within the first few minutes of using it that it’s more than sufficient for the entire house and it very easily replaces big, clunky, plug-in vacuums. It just shows how superior the Dyson motor is, because this tiny handheld is able to completely replace any vacuum and do a better and easier job of cleaning, as well as a quicker job due to the fact it cleans better so it requires less passes over the floor in addition to the fact it’s cordless so you don’t have to constantly plug in and move around a cord or dodge it in the floor whilst vacuuming. On a full charge, I’m able to completely vacuum every single floor in my house, as it works for hard floors as well as carpeting, and I’ve got a 3,600sqft house, but it still is able to clean the entire house without the battery dying, so don’t worry about not being able to clean the whole house at once. I’m able to even use attachments to clean things like windowsills and ceiling fans and furniture as well as the stairs and curtains, not just the floors. I also use it to clean my car out regularly as well. It keeps the carpet in my car like new, it’s still as soft and fluffy as the day I bought it 6 months ago. And I’m able to use other attachments to also clean out the center where the gear shifter snd buttons are at as well as the doors and door pockets and dashboard as well as the trunk and all the little compartments in it. I do have to use one of the specialty auto attachments I bought separately for some areas, like getting the entire door pockets, which is the long flexible hose like you’d use at a car wash. but my car doors have an awkward shape, it’s a BMW 440 GranCoupe, so it’s super angular and makes it impossible for any straight attachment to fit in. But I think many vehicles can get away without needing the auto attachments. I literally only need the hose for the door pockets, as the vacuum is small enough to get in all the areas. Lastly, when you initially buy your Dyson, be sure to register it on here for the warranty, because Dyson backs their products with a great warranty as well. Tbh they sent me an email today asking if I wanted to review my vacuum, which I bought and registered over 7 months ago. But it’s been such a great vacuum and I’ve had time to really use and get to know it, and I can truly say it’s rhe best vacuum ever. And I only bought the V8 Animal, they now have V11s, which have far stronger motors and larger batteries that last even longer, so I can just imagine how great they are. But honestly, this vacuum is really more than all you’ll ever need for your home, as it’s got plenty of power and battery life and is versatile enough for the entire house (and car!) oh and one last thing I love about Dyson is that they’re able to vacuum up large bits of rubbish as well as typical vacuum things, like dirt and hair. But hairs never get tangled in the motorized attachments. They’ve engineered them to resist hairs wrapping arojnd and tangling up like other vacuums, and due to the design, it’s able to pick up large bits without damage to the vacuum. For example, I broke a mirror and vacuumed up all the shards of glass without a bit of damage to my Dyson, and they’re extremely easy to empty out the bin as well-which of course is bag-less. Dyson is honestly the brand responsible for the style/design/features of literally all modern vacuums. They were the first and everyone has copied them now, but nobody can outdo them. Dyson products are expensive, yes, but they’re absolutely worth every penny due to the amount of engineering and quality and performance you get with any and every product Dyson makes. They’re a revolutionary brand that’s full of quality, innovation, excellent engineering, and great looks and style. I’m just glad they’ve expanded from a vacuum brand to a home brand because their fans, hair products, and lamps are all so extraordinary and just as great and superior to their competitors as their vacuums, not to mention they’re just as beautiful. Dyson quickly became a brand I love and trust and am happy and proud to own. I’ll never buy another brand after owning Dyson products. I promise you’ll feel the same way too once you use a Dyson for the first time.
I recently purchased it last week. When I first opened it, I suspected it was a used product because there seemed to be dust in the bin. But I dismissed it and thought maybe it was from the manufacturing process. The battery life has been great! I live in a 5-bedroom house, and it lasts enough to get through all the rooms (I vacuum fast). At first, I was very disappointed with the suction because it seemed very weak. I was starting to regret buying it. I have other vacuums, and they have excellent suction. So the V8 seemed underpowered. BUT! Surprisingly, even after vacuuming with the others first, the V8 still picked up much more. I've since vacuumed my room multiple times, and it picks up a good amount of dust and dirt each time. It's also a lot more convenient to use than the others. We'll see how long the battery and motor last. Overall I am happy with this Model even though I might want one of the more expensive models one day.
Very pleased indeed with the Absolute vacuum (including free Dyson Complete Clean Kit). We've mounted it using the very convenient mounting bracket, which works extremely well, and the whole thing works terribly well. I've used the standard attachment, the mini-motor cleaner and the adjustable duster attachment. The only failing is that the tiny brush on the last of these has come off, and my attempts to fix it back on have failed. This is an insignificant issue. The vacuum is easy to use, light and powerful. It is much better than our previous Dyson hand held. Minor drawbacks include a very light trigger, easy to inadvertently switch on during carrying. Opening the dust canister was awkward initially, much more of the machine moved than I'd imagined would. However, ... However, this has worked looser after only a couple of uses, so no problem at all.The results on utility room carpet and car interior have been excellent, and we were very pleased with the reduced price from JL. A purchase that we are very satisfied with.
We bought the Dyson V8 stick vacuum cleaner and are very disappointed with it. Specifically on how long the battery lasts. I would not recommend it. If you are thinking of buying you need to consider the following points. The V8 stick vacuum cleaner will only last approx. 6 MINUTES on full power, and that is WITH NO ATTACHMENTS.We thought the battery would last for 40 minutes. However it will only last 40 minutes with NO MOTORISED HEAD AND ON LOW POWER. You only get motorised heads in the pack so it is hard to vacuum the floor without a motorised head. The V8 stick vacuum cleaner will only last between 15 and 20 MINUTES and that is on LOW POWER and WITH A MOTORISED HEAD. This is not enough time to vacuum a unit much less a house. We bought the dyson stick ... MoreWe bought the Dyson V8 stick vacuum cleaner and are very disappointed with it. You still need a 2nd vacuum cleaner. The stick vacuum cleaner is nothing more than an expensive broom.
