The Earthway 2170 spreader came unassembled in a box, the instructions are not very well written and even a mechanically gifted person will have to display great patience in assembly. I used it for the first time with time released granulated weed and feed and it performed well enough to recommend it for residential use, I'm not sure it would hold up for commercial use. Given the fact it arrives unassembled and the metal frame will probably not hold up for many years, I question the price of $150.00.

I've managed a shop for an Agri business for 27 years and I consider myself pretty mechanical.. I've never seen such a mess of instructions in my life. The drawings and descriptions are terrible. I've used this spreader for industrial use for over 15 years and it's still going. I decided to do side jobs and spread fertilizer myself.. IF you can get this thing together it's pretty dang good. It will last for years... a great buy for the money...

I purchased the Earthway spreader for my company three years ago. I use it every winter to spread ice melt over our entire parking lot. I have had no problems with this unit. I have found that I can do a more thourough job and for a lower cost than having my snowplow cotractor spread salt. I get a nice even spread pattern and the big pneumatic tires roll easily over light snow or uneven & icy surfaces. The large capacity hopper holds a full bag of icemelt and the wide track keeps it stable when I push it. I recomend this unit to any maintenance guys with small lots to maintain in the winter time. I'm sure it would also work well on walkways.
Product is excellent, however assembly and operating instruction needs to be tweaked. Several enlarged pictures (axel instalation through the gear box and the pivot rod angle long/short) would be a great help. Over all the instructions were detailed and well thought out.
Very impressed with the quality of this spreader. It has a nice steady flow rate, and the machine is very sturdy. It is something that should last for years...
After using a friend's Earth Way 50 lb spreader on a few small 1 acre food plots I decided to purchase the Earth Way broadcast 100LB spreader. I like the extra capacity of the 100lb. The spreader is built to last, is easy to use and can be you can fine tune the amount of product to be distribute.I feel the instructions were not totally clear. Even after calling the company I had to scrutinize the drawings to figure out I had the axel sleeve/shame on the wrong side of the frame.Overall the Spreader is great. The building instructions are poor.
Great product made in USA! I broke my cheap one and decided to buy something that would last for a little bit more money. Very well made won't have to buy another for many years.
Works well with DRY sidewalk ice melt products. If the ice melt product becomes wet, forget using this spreader. Make sure to use the rain cover to fix this problem.
