After spending weeks of research to upgrade my desktop speakers, I settled for the R1700BTs.I wanted affordable nearfield speakers. Many studio monitors have a flat response but my listening preference is a warm bass. I still have an old sub and therefore a sub-out was a requirement.Highs and mids are clear and crisp. The R1700BTs are ok without sub but really start shining once you add a subwoofer.All new speakers need an initial break in period to become more dynamic. Your ears and brain will need some time too to adjust to the new sound. Don't judge them after a few minutes, give it some time.tldr: Probably one of the best price-performance ratio active bookshelf speakers currently on the market.

These are awesome. I brought these for my PC to replace my creative speakers. These are one hell of an upgrade. The sound quality is brilliant, with very good range, clear base and treble with no distortion even when very loud. These speakers can get extremely loud, I can put music on inside the house and hear it very clearly in the back yard. The build quality is excellent and very solid. It comes with all of the cables required and you have the option of connecting it to Bluetooth. It also comes with a remote control. The speakers are quite heavy with good grip on the base so you wont knock them over very easily.

Just fine for streaming. For tv and movies most folks would probably not notice much improvement over average. Others might notice the absence of the more usual awful and annoying traits and consider that a big improvement.Where they really standout is music. Most computer speakers, even thx certified are designed for high impact of games and movies. If you're familiar with how great a piece of music sounds on an old-school stereo (buds are not old-school) most computers speakers are no pleasure to listen to. These ones are terrific for tunes. A little EQ tweak to match the room and your system and away you go. Impressive Speakers

I bought these speakers for use as bedroom Bluetooth speakers. I like that they support a decent Bluetooth codec (aptX HD) and include a remote control at this price point. Out of the box they sounded a little flat to me so I applied an EQ curve using my phones adaptive sound, eight band graphic equalizer and after a boost to the bass and treble (with the speaker Bass and Treble dials set to 0) the speakers came alive for me. I noticed a definite improvement in the sound and with the subwoofer connected I no longer need to limit these speakers to a near-field configuration.I really like the simplicity and reliability of these speakers as a Bluetooth solution. They have good range, always connect promptly and it took all of five minutes to open the box and set them up. All that was needed for surprisingly nice stereo imaging was an average Android phone, the phones built in equalizer and some favorite WAV files stored on the phones MicroSD card. These speakers are highly recommended. My only quibble is that the remote feels a little cheap, but works fine.

Full disclosure, I bought this to plug into my turntable and listen to a group that has very deep primal drums but piercing female vocals. (Check out Heilung - Anoana for what I mean)My main issue with these lies is that the clarity of anything that is not bass. I ended up returning these and just going for some passive Klipsch speakers.I would only recommend these if you want an upgrade to some computer desk speakers given to you from an office, school, or computer speakers from 15 years ago but want bass instead of clarity.
