I was honestly surprised at the sound quality of these speakers. I always used to think that 2.1 speakers are better than bookshelf speakers. But it seems that bookshelf speakers can be more powerful and sound cleaner than 2.1's, if they are made well. The Edifier R2000DB is an amazing bookshelf speaker. Period. It easily outperforms any 2.1 speakers I know of (including Edifier XM6BT) and a few other models in the bookshelf speaker range like Edifier R1700Bt. The audio is full range, clear & open and does not feel tinny or raspy like you'd notice on some 2.1's because mostly 2.1's have small satellite speakers and heavy bass subwoofers which drown out the highs and mids coming from the satellite speakers. Also the bass is well filtered so it does not have the ... MoreI was honestly surprised at the sound quality of these speakers. Also the bass is well filtered so it does not have the humming sound when playing vocals, so voices don't sound like a muddy booming mess like with most budget 2.1's subwoofers. The R2000DB features a Class D amplifier, so overall performance is great, bass is amazingly clear & yet enough to rattle room windows and the highs are covered by the tweeters so voice and other sounds are crisp with well rounded full range audio for music or movies. The only downside I can talk about is the size and weight of the speaker. With dimensions of W175 x H 288 x L 230 mm, it is quite big on the desk and in pictures it looks small but it is quite big and heavy. The good side of the size is that with the polished MDF wood and premium build, it will look as good and sound great next to a computer monitor as beside the TV across the hall!

These speakers are worth the cost. There is plenty of bass and they sound great in my office. Whether it music or gaming the sound it top notch for the package. Easy to set up and get bumping. There are several wiring options included in the box.

Excellent quality for the money, very reputable brand for good reason. They look clean on the desk. Nice and sturdy construction, lots of features, most importantly toslink connectivity. Even without a subwoofer there is more then sufficient low end bass, down to 50hz. Would definitely buy again.

Edifier R 1855 DB Bluetooth bookshelf speakers
25 January 2023

Quick delivery.Really well packed. I'm not an audiophile but i know what I like and these are great value. The Bluetooth hooked up easy. Mine are black with a slope on the front and look better than most other bookshelf speakers. You get a remote that works fine. All the controls are on the back which may affect some people depending on positioning. Down to the nitty gritty, for me they sound great with amazing bass out of speakers this size. I live in a unit so cant turn volume up to 11 but at acceptable levels they are great. I'm using the Marley turntable. I'd forgotten how great vinyl is.

Good Sound

First, a summary of what I read elsewhere, and then a comparison with the R1280T. Consumer Reports did a recent test of home speakers under $300, and the R2000DBs topped the list because of sound quality. Other reviewers agree, but often complain about the cheap remote and flaky Bluetooth. I can attest to the cheapness of the remote, but I use a standard, RCA plug line in connection. Besides two line in and Bluetooth connections, you also get an optical connection. Edifier is good enough to provide all the cables for you. These replace a pair of Edifier R1280Ts. The R2000DBs are larger and heavier, but still fit the limited space I have for them. I wouldn't want anything larger though. These are also massive (as in weight). Even the left speaker weighs a lot. The ... MoreFirst, a summary of what I read elsewhere, and then a comparison with the R1280T. Even the left speaker weighs a lot. The wood color is a bit red, and obvious Vinyl over particle board, but they don't look bad, and the workmanship is well done. And the sound? I always thought the R1280T set sounded decent, but when compared to a very good system, the sound always sounded like it came from a box. Not the R2000DBs; The box sound is largely gone; the mid range is open, the trebles smooth, and the bass extends another half octave. Music lovers will never want to use the Dynamic setting. That gives you so much bass it overpowers everything else. In the corner of my room near a wall and behind the computer monitor, I have the treble turned all the way up, and the bass all the way down using the Classic setting. The amp that powers these is strong and clean enough to fill a large room without distortion. The one thing I miss from the old speakers is the location of the control knobs. They were easier to grab when they were on the side of the right speaker, instead of the rear. With the R2000DBs I do a right handed fumble to the back of the right speaker. The volume/input change knob is the first one you come across.

Good, Versatile Speakers
1 March 2022

I am not an audiophile, but these speakers sound good to me. They are very versatile. I use them instead of my analog TV's built in speaker, and to listen to music and podcasts from my iPhone via Bluetooth. My TV's poor quality speaker used to be just annoying, but as my hearing got worse I was having trouble understanding dialog. Simple amplification did not completely solve the problem because the TV's speaker was simply not producing a full enough range of sound. With these speakers I can enjoy my TV again. They were easy to hook up and use. I also look forward to using them with a 30-year old analog turntable, but will need to get a preamp to make the speakers loud enough. They are designed to have up to two analog sources plugged in at once so you don't need to ... MoreI am not an audiophile, but these speakers sound good to me. They are very versatile. They switch from one analog input to another very simply with the remote, or to Bluetooth input. My only complaints are that the remote is so small as to be slightly awkward to handle, and that the printed and online manual are not very detailed. Online help has been excellent.

Great sound reproduction, good bass level, many connection options. Happy with product
5 May 2016

The sound reproduction of these speakers is great for their size. The multiple connection options (Bluetooth, Optical, RCA) with good quality cables supplied and remote control sets these set of speakers above similar products offered by other manufacturers. Pros: Great Sound Reproduction - Excellent Bass Levels Multiple Connection Options (Bluetooth, Optical, RCA x 2) Rear Base, Treble, Volume Control Knobs Remote Control Cable supplied Sturdy rubber feet for good stability Multi Colour LED light indicator - changes with connection type selected (green=RCA, blue=bluetooth etc) Cons: Remote Control symbols/labels are not easy to read in grey colour, especially in low light Short speaker interconnecting cable

I would recommend the R2000DB speakers to anyone!

I had a very expensive digital piano that had some internal amplifier issues. It was about 20 years old and the only problem was the sound coming through the original speakers was distorted. Parts are no longer available for it according to my service technician. We did notice that when you used the headphone jack, the sound was clear. So I did some research and found great reviews on theses speakers and took a chance on ordering them so that I could hook them up to the piano's headphone jack and use them instead of the piano's internal speakers. I was a little hesitant because this piano is not your basic digital piano but back in the day cost almost $5,000 and has over 120 sounds including powerful organ and brass sounds, so the speakers needed to be something ... MoreI had a very expensive digital piano that had some internal amplifier issues. I was a little hesitant because this piano is not your basic digital piano but back in the day cost almost $5,000 and has over 120 sounds including powerful organ and brass sounds, so the speakers needed to be something that could handle the low bass notes and still be clear on the high notes. I am totally satisfied with the R2000DB speakers. There is no distortion with them, they have room shaking bass and are crystal clear on the high notes. I have owend CrewinVega speakers, Bose and Infinity and had never heard of Edifier, but trust me, they hold their own with these top name brands. They sounds every bit as good as or even better than the original speakers on the piano. I couldn't be happier. For just over $200, I am able to continue to use my piano and hopefully for many more years to come. Whether you're using these as I did or if you're getting them for a bookshelf system or to hook up to your home entertainment system, I would say you will be very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the finsh and especially the awesome sound!!

Very Happy with This Purchase
4 December 2020

I am not a paid reviewer / in fact I almost never post anything, much less a product review. However, I have enjoyed these speakers so much in the short period of time that I’ve had them that I wanted to share my experience. For the money, these are hands down an excellent value. They sit in my office on my desk and throughout the day serve as admirable computer speakers (voice mail, Zoom meeting, alerts, internet, etc.). However, at night or over the weekend, these speakers fill that space with phenomenal sound. The bass is NOT an issue. If you disagree, by a comparable sub-woofer and scare your neighbors. Money well spent!

really great speakers for my computer

These are some sweet sounding speakers. I am using the bluetooth connection with my computer and am extremely impressed. If you have the room, these are tops. They are heavy so no vibrations. The wood and black are handsome in any environment you put them in.
