Ego RTA2300 Power+ 56V Multi-Tool Rotocut Attachment Suits PH1400E

This is a very clever bit of kit which, like all Ego tools and attachments, does exactly as claimed. Superbly engineered and made, the attachment is very effective and safe to use in confined areas as it does not throw grass, stones or other objects. The scissor action of the reciprocating blades makes short work of grass, thick stalked weeds and brambles and does so without clogging. The only criticism I have is that it is heavy.

The instructions do not tell you what speed to operate this tool on. There is a warning on the blade giving a maximum RPM. It is probably ok on either speed of the multi tool but I called to check with EGO uk and have still had no response. I am using it on speed one just in case but I am disappointed at having no response from EGO. Maybe they will respond after this review (if ever published).

Brilliant Tool

Just added the Rotocut attachment to my collection of EGO tools and I just love it. I am a female senior citizen and find the Rotocut so easy to use and am thrilled with the lovely tidy finish I get as the cuttings don't get flung all over the place like a line trimmer. Beautifully balanced and easy to use.

Excellent as long as the grass is dry.

The Rotocut is a great machine to safely cut grass around trees or other areas where you don't want to cut anything but the grass. The counter rotating heads means it doesn't jump like a brush cutter does.I bought it to use in my orchard to cut long setaria grass that grows around the trees. This grass is nasty stuff. It grows to around 2 meters tall in clumps and is quite fibrous. The Rotocut will cut this grass as long as the grass is dry.The only issues is the Rotocut is quite heavy and it uses a lot of energy compared to a brush cutter head. However its much much safer to use than a brush cutter head. I've lost I think two trees from the brush cutter chopping them down by accident. This never happens with the Rotocut. Heavy tool gets the job done

I used this as a hedge trimmer it did worked well locally on the bigger branches 1 inch or more it did eat through it but took a while ,handy tool but it felt heavy to me. Bit reserved about using it as a whipper snipper due to the dirt getting into mechanism.

Incomplete product

As a tool it is very effective, like a rotary hedge trimmer.What killed it for me as a reviewer was having to dismantle my strimmer to attach it.Why doesnt it come with a tube?Ended up buying another strimmer because dealer could not supply tube alone.Dont know if tube is the right word..shaft?, drive shaft?

Precision Cutting Tool

The Rotocut takes a little while to learn how best to use it and its limitations. It is not as aggressive to use as a line trimmer/strimmer and you have more control over the angle of the blade to cut and tidy your garden. I have used it like a old fashioned scythe with gentle sweeping movements from side to side creating a 180 degree cutting arc of brush, grass and weeds. I have also used it as an edging tool by twisting it over and using the blade in a vertical position. The curved "gliding bowl" at the base allows a really close cut to the ground in all those hard to reach areas under bushes and shrubs plus around tree trunks and borders where a mower blade would hit roots and a strimmer line would scalp the grass. The tool does not make much noise and does not blow up debris like a strimmer, so its gentle cutting action is ideal for areas where you may want to protect other plants or items. You have to blow or rake up what you have cut down. I have given it 4 stars as I do not know how long the blades will last plus where to buy the special oil/grease to lubricate the gear system as it is not available from EGO and I don't want to use the wrong product and affect the warranty. The tool is not lightweight and I will be ordering a shoulder strap to help take the weight and give more control to the cutting angles for longer use. It is surprisingly satisfying and calming to use and gives an accurate clean cut. So take care where you move the blade as it cuts everything it touches.

This tool will make up for my lack of manpower both in my domestic garden and farm property. I call it The Beast and it hasn’t disappointed.

As with all EGO products this innovative attachment is beautifully engineered and designed to perform exactly as described. Clever and very effective, it is particulary suited to areas where nil throwback is essential (think flying stones and damaged car body work or windows). It mulches through weeds and brambles effortlessly and is very effective on grass around walls and tree trunks. Overall a superb bit of kit and an essential attachment for the Multi-Tool.
