Just got the speakers. Very well packaged and shipped, and the bonus CD is a really interesting mix, revealing what these speakers can do.First impressions: Sounds quite nice off the box, and I really look forward to breaking it in. The aesthetics are reasonable. I noticed the vinyl seam at the bottom and felt that it was below par for something with a "reference" moniker. Moreover, these speakers did not even include any kind of insulation feet. Luckily, I do have some around the house. The wife however loved the looks, and remarked that the tweed in the front makes it look like a distinguished gent. Given that the speakers have passed the most important aesthetic test, I have no complaints, whatsoever. ;)A big shout out to Sean Smollon for carefully listening ... MoreJust got the speakers. I've had some great speakers over the years including a large pair of Martin Logan panel speakers (SL-3's) and these speakers top them all. I'm using a 300 watt per channel Classe amp and am able to use every watt on these puppies as they crank out sound that has to be heard to be believed. The bass is just unbelievable for a speaker of this size. A little boost on the low end with a sub and these speakers make everthing else a poor use of ones money. These are truly audiophile speakers at buget prices. Of course, if your someone that spends $10K on interconnects (yes they exist!) then the above is moot. If not then these deserve your attention.

I purchased the DBR62 to replace a pair of original Debut B5s in a second system powered by a Bluesound Powernode 2. Overall, I am very pleased with the speaker. It presents with much more detail and air, and creates a wider and deeper soundstage. If you follow the reviews of this speaker, it is generally described as neutral, musical, non-fatiguing, etc. I think all of that is true. It is a speaker you can listen to for hours and just enjoy. I have a much more expensive "high end" system in the house, and I can honestly say that this little system with the DBR62s really does not give up much. If you are a long-time audiophile and know what to listen for, you will enjoy these speakers.Regarding looks and construction: The oak version just doesn't fit my decor, so ... MoreI purchased the DBR62 to replace a pair of original Debut B5s in a second system powered by a Bluesound Powernode 2. I would have been happy with a plain black finish and I thought the walnut looked kink of cheap. However, now that I have them I can say that the walnut veneer looks much better in person than in on-line photos. Construction seems solid and the speakers don't have the resonance issues that were sometimes noticeable with the original Debut.Overall, if you like to listen for hours and just enjoy music, but also appreciate the detail, resolution and soundstaging that higher end audio can deliver, I can highly recommend these speakers.

Office and remote listening system. Previous reviews are very accurate. Great all around balance and solid base for a small speaker. Good imaging on stands. ( Rockville wood stands for Elac Debut 6) I am powering them with a Parasound A23 and Classe CP35 Pre Amp. Transparent MusicWave Plus speaker cables - a bit of overkill but had them in storage. Blusound Vault Music Streamer. Nice all around speaker and great value.
The speakers, although still quite new (2020 model), have already managed to stir things up on the market in their price category, and even a bit higher. Versatile, they will play everything well and with everything, and the better the amplifier, the more they will reward you with the scale and quality of the sound, and it is full and powerful. Speakers for long and relaxing listening to music, there is a strong and varied bass, a slightly sweetened midrange, but with lots of details, and there is also a detailed and at the same time delicate top. Everything is coherent, creating a large stage, and above all, pleasant to the ear. To the eye too, because if they suit your taste, they will please with their appearance and quality of workmanship.
Reading reviews, I pulled the trigger on these speakers. First impressions and early thoughts follow:• Not a "forward" in-your-face sound-stage. I'm so happy about this. Their sound-stage and imaging are about where the speakers are placed with a little in front and behind them. Those bright, forward speakers you hear in a showroom will get on your nerves after a while so this is good news.• Tonal balance/sound. As balanced and as described in other reviews. Detailed and revealing mids; and bass/treble when present in the music. Overall very even and pleasant.• If I say "detailed and revealing" then what I mean is that I suddenly found the differences in the recording and production of my CDs. Which previously I did not notice. It takes a fairly neutral speaker ... MoreReading reviews, I pulled the trigger on these speakers. Which previously I did not notice. It takes a fairly neutral speaker to bring this out and resolve that information. It's a two-edged sword though because when getting into better levels of Hi-Fi gear, these things are brought out.• Voice reproduction is great. Again, partly owing to it not being so forward, I can play vocal music from all genre and it sounds engaging and never grating or harsh.Highly recommended if you want to step into that middle level of equipment between everyday consumer gear and the high end.Mid-Fi ?Highly recommended for sub-$1000 range. I like them better than anything I owned so far including Pyramid Met-7, Magnepan MMG, and Pinnacle. They remind me of Celestion SL6 in the 1980s but half the price. Really great value.
The speakers came on time in a very sturdy box. Close to 50 lbs. So be prepared. The speakers are solidly built and look good. Passes the thump test. The sound is very good Clean. Works very well with my setup playing LPs, CDs, and cassetttes. Rock on! Looking forward to when they are broken in.
Great speakers, sounds really good.Decent built quality and looks, heavier than many of its size.Came in a bit not so ideal box, a bit dirty and torn but speakers itself were absolutely fine.Found best price for these on beat buy.Highly recommended seller, andHighly recommended speakers for any use.
I hooked these up to an aiyima a07 with a tube preamp and these things sound amazing! I have a better power supply, better tubes, and upgraded op-amps to go along with the budget equipment. It really sounds amazing. I can only imagine how these sound with a high quality amplifier. If you’re on the fence with the cheap B&W speakers and KEF’s but want a 6.5” woofer. These are a great middle ground if you want something that can be airy, present, and vocal. Don’t worry about bass because it’s there! The bass only gets deeper the farther away you are. Up close in a computer setup you may want a subwoofer as you won’t hear it as much. Buy these when on sale! $489
Decided to take a chance on these speakers after reading glowing praise from audiosciencereview, and I'm glad I did. These sound great! For reference, here is the review: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/elac-debut-reference-dbr-62-speaker-review.12232/Going through my favorite songs with these speakers took my breath away. In many cases it was the best experience I've ever had listening to the given song.audiosciencereview suggests to pair these with a "beefy" amplifier. To do this, I hooked up these speakers to the "Zone 3" of a Denon X4700H, which I also use for my home theater through the main zone. Based on ASR's comments, it might not be a good idea to get these speakers if you need something that works with a more compact ... MoreDecided to take a chance on these speakers after reading glowing praise from audiosciencereview, and I'm glad I did. Based on ASR's comments, it might not be a good idea to get these speakers if you need something that works with a more compact amplifier.I recommend using some kind of room correction for these speakers. For that purpose I did something very rough to set up these speakers on my Windows PC. My motherboard's Realtek audio drivers come with a customizable EQ, and I adjusted the weights of the frequencies in that EQ to try to match a standard room correction target curve. To do this, I set up a microphone at my listening spot, and I got an app to display the microphone's recorded frequency, and I got an app to emit sound waves at desired frequencies. I played a sound wave at each frequency that I can control in Realtek's EQ, and I adjusted the EQ to tweak the loudness of frequencies to make them match the target curve. The very low and very high frequencies were hard to calibrate that way, so I tweaked those based on personal preference. I then went through a bunch of my favorite songs and made fine-tuned adjustments to try to get everything sounding just like I expect it to. This work really payed off - turning the custom EQ on and off is like night and day. That is all to say, highly recommend tweaking the EQ to bring out the best in these speakers. If you're all about that bass then you might want to pair these with a subwoofer, but in my opinion the bass of these speakers is pretty good on its own. It's juuuust deep enough to give a satisfying feeling of being wrapped in the sound, has given me the shivers a few times. If you're interested in other people's opinion, I recommend checking out the audiosciencereview thread linked above. That said, I think some people there who have negative impressions might just need to tweak something in their setup, like the EQ or the amplifier. Or maybe they have unrealistic expectations from a speaker of this size...?Overall, I give these speakers a solid recommendation.
