Utterly staggering! My band has advertised for a keyboard player for a long time and we've found absolutely no one capable of meeting our needs. The B9 has completely transformed our sound. Such songs as A Whiter Shade of Pale, I'll Put a Spell on You, Gimme Some Loving and many more sixties songs that require the keyboard sound are now easily played on guitar with amazing authenticity. My one criticism is that the 9 volt transformer lead is very flimsy and the plug insufficiently robust for hard gigging wear where reliability is essential, so a more robust power source would be an improvement. I'll find a way round that though. Although Electroharmonix also do a C9 and also a Key9, for piano-type sounds, it's a pity they haven't captured the harpsichord sound for a ... MoreUtterly staggering! A Musical Pedal for Weirdness

Not saying its a bad thing or its defected, I really like what I get out of this box. I do get organish sounds but I also get the weirdest, blackest overdrives I ever heard. Maybe, I'm suppose to play it different; the way I play and the sounds emitting from it got me in other realms of the sonic spectrum I never knew existed. Its that much of a mojo-machine in my arsenal right now. You thought EQD Rainbow Machine was weird, well this is easier to digest, tastes ... MoreOverall:I bought the pedal for its ability to transform my guitar into an organ but instead was catapulted into a world of supernatural vibes and haunting melodies that you only hear from reading 1950's horror comics.I heard the demos but I'm not getting any of the demos except on number 8, the Continental. You thought EQD Rainbow Machine was weird, well this is easier to digest, tastes great and sounds are in your control instead of wildin' out on its own. Also speaking of EQD, I have the Organizer, and the B9 blows it out the swamp. Sure you get organ tones for a cheaper price, but the B9 tones are very convincing, reactive to the strings and you get 9 different sounds to play with, its a crazy machine you need for studio recording. For live, if you are the experimental type, this will open you up to new frontiers.

A welcome, high-quality, but very unpredictable and selectiv

High-quality built-in sounds. However, it should be noted that this pedal is very specific and requires the preparation of the instrumental signal. Therefore, in order to make it authentic to imitate the built-in sounds, you will have to work hard in preparing the signal: in terms of level, in frequency response and especially in attack and in attenuation. For some musical instruments in general, it will be difficult to achieve adequate and predictable KEY9 performance. Particularly noteworthy is the very incorrect work of the pedal directly with the instrumental piezoelectric transducers. Actually it can also be attributed to the entire line of Machine Electro Harmonix (MEL9, C9, B9). In any case, if you really need authentic sounds embedded in these pedals, then ... MoreHigh-quality built-in sounds. Checked it out at the Local Guitar Center. Why I didn't buy
20 March 2019

I tried it out at the Medford store through a Deluxe Reverb (DRRI) with a poorly set-up Jazzmaster, 2 pieces of gear, similar to my own. It did make some good sounds and some bad ones too. Tweaking it was kind of fun to see how much I could get out of it. Some chords don't work well with it so there is a little learning curve to it. The ones that worked well were pretty good and it would be great for a small band without a keyboard player. Down side is the thing feels cheap, and I don't know of it's worth $200+ for me to buy it. Maybe if they drop the price or make some improvements in the sound and construction. Also this particular unit was the display model and they didn't have a boxed one to sell. So in fact I assume it's been used allot. He didn't even offer it ... MoreI tried it out at the Medford store through a Deluxe Reverb (DRRI) with a poorly set-up Jazzmaster, 2 pieces of gear, similar to my own. So in fact I assume it's been used allot. He didn't even offer it to me as a discount, since it was unboxed/used. And, the salesman was kind of pushy, telling me "if I want it I better buy it soon because it's their last one". Really are they flying off the shelf? I'm not a panic buyer, I lived through the Cuban Blockade and all is well. I told him I'd think about it, but I could get it on line just as easily unused with free shipping. I don't know yet if I will buy it or not but I think I could be a lot of fun and useful in my studio.

I'm super happy with this pedal!
27 January 2024

I use this pedal with bands in which I play in with other guitarists. This thing Sounds great as a rhythm tool and helps support the sound while the mates are shred ding. I mostly like the jazz organ setting, but most of the models are usable. Sounds pretty much like an organ or at least pretty convincing clone.

The B9 is Terrific!
3 September 2024

I'm very happy about my new Electro-Harmonix B9 Organ guitar effect pedal. It sounds terrific and tracks beautifully. Without a keyboardist in our band it helps fill that void. It's so much easier than having to depend on a midi guitar, which I used to use, but don't miss. I also got the Key9 pedal. Together they both give me all the keyboard sounds our band needs.
