Elixir 11075 Polyweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Light/Medium (12-56)

Polyweb is Elixir's completely unique approach to coating guitar strings. The heaviest shield offering from Elixir coats the complete string with a micro-thin polymer tube that you can actually see and feel. It stops any gunk getting at the strings and gives a smooth feel with the added benefit of reduced finger squeaky noise. Beneath the coating is an original-style 80/20 bronze wound string which has an inherently bright and vibrant tone. The Polyweb coating deliberately rounds off some of the brightness to give a warm sounding set of acoustic guitar strings which'll last for ages! Elixir says:Elixir Polyweb Acoustic Guitar strings are coated in a unique way to protect the wound strings from all contaminants. A flexible, strong, yet micro-thin polymer tube defends the critical zone of tone from invading enemies. Nothing (including the coating) gets between the windings. Elixir strings sound great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings, have a balanced tone with smooth response, feel comfortably smooth and reduce finger squeak. After experiencing Elixir strings it's hard to go back to the old way of life.

I have been playing, orchestrating, singing, arranging music, and doing luthier work on the side for over 25 years. I have restored several beautiful guitars, all of which are installed with this same set. I’ve had several Takamine professionals. EN 15 CX, the pro series, 5 and seven, all of which are dressed with these as well. I built custom instruments, I would not sin against a guitar and give it back to a customer without elixirs. There is no competition when it comes to this brand. Only a long list of competitors that elixir simply has allowed to exist.

Not the right strings for me.
4 April 2018

Guitar strings are a subjective thing, and it comes down to the users preference, so note that my take on these is based on my preference and not an indication of the quality of the product.I bought these because I had heard many good things about Elixirs, but as I suspected the difference between coated/uncoated strings is not a positive one for me. These are labeled as being "slick & fast," but I find that they do just the opposite for me - the coating actually stops my fingers from sliding across the strings. The tone seems OK - I like a "duller" tone, as opposed to that bright, metallic new string sound - these are "warm" as labeled, but I'm still not really impressed with the tone they impart on my Martin D-28. I think I'm better off with the Martin strings ... MoreGuitar strings are a subjective thing, and it comes down to the users preference, so note that my take on these is based on my preference and not an indication of the quality of the product.I bought these because I had heard many good things about Elixirs, but as I suspected the difference between coated/uncoated strings is not a positive one for me. I think I'm better off with the Martin strings that came on it. But again, this is just my preference, and the only way to really tell is to buy a pair and try them out. It's an inexpensive way to experiment with the tone/feel of your guitar.

These Just Work For Me!
14 September 2023

Each guitar of mine responds differently to the same brand, gauge of strings. I have been searching for just the right sound and feel for my carbon fiber McPherson Sable. After trying a number of sets, I finally gave these a try and BAM! It is a match made in heaven. These are like candy for my fingers. I decided to buy and 8-set pack.

I'm one of those obnoxious people that never leaves reviews unless it's because I didn't like the product, service, etc. I was motivated in this case to do so not just because I very much like the product but because I thought the feedback might help someone else. Specifically, another relative noobie like me. I've been playing for about 8 months now and can play a handful of my favorite songs, but I'm still in that phase where certain chord changes/progressions I've done 1000 times now still trip me up on occasion because clumsy fingers are fun lol - anyways, I've been wanting to try some elixirs (can't help but hear the hype lol) but thought these might end up being too light for my liking. Decided to give them a try anyways after ordering and am so glad I did. ... MoreI'm one of those obnoxious people that never leaves reviews unless it's because I didn't like the product, service, etc. I was motivated in this case to do so not just because I very much like the product but because I thought the feedback might help someone else. Decided to give them a try anyways after ordering and am so glad I did. Immediately noticed a different in my ability to cleanly play chords and the strings in general are just so, for lack of a better term, strummable. It feels like there's less bite on the strings as I'm strumming and it's just all around made my guitar more fun to play. Not noticing any big differences in tone or sound while playing fingerstyle songs either, which I guess I was supposed to be worried about based on some people's feedback on the coated strings? IDK - if you're still a beginner trying to learn, highly rec you give these a try!
