After recently discovering a potential skin cancer spot on my face, I knew I had to really make the effort to wear a daily sunscreen. I received the EltaMD UV Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50+ as a sample in one of the Dermstore boxes I ordered and love it. In fact, I've just today ordered the 3 ounce tube so I can continue using it. In the morning, after applying my facial moisturizer and letting it soak in, I apply this sunscreen and let it 'rest' on my face for a few minutes. This is always my last step in my morning routine. It is very light weight, non-greasy and leaves no white residue on my face and neck. I never have a problem with it balling up on my skin when I apply my foundation. I purchase the 1.7 oz size and it will last me about 4 months of daily use on my face and neck only. I have combo skin, so depending on the Texas weather and humidity, I will use a small amount of a matte primer on my T-zone areas after this SPF if needed before I apply my makeup. This does not dry out my skin like other SPFs will do. I apply it to the back of my hand because it has a very fluid like consistency rather than a lotionlike other brands. I like this consistency because it does not sit on my skin. I recommend you give it a try.

This has been my daily go-to for years. I have melasma, so it’s essential that I use a tinted mineral sunscreen to help keep my spots at bay. I use this sunscreen in lieu of foundation and love the way it helps even everything out. I think this sunscreen would be perfect if:1.) It came in more colors to fit a wider range of skin tones. This color works great for my light complexion, but would not work for darker skin tones…or even fair tones, I imagine.2.) The spf was higher! It would be great if it was spf 50.Still, if the color works for you, this is a wonderful and effective product!
Every winter my skin dries out and becomes irritated. My regular Elta MD sunscreen is perfect any time but winter on my skin. This Physical UV sunscreen feels luxuriously creamy going on, but dries down to a soft matte finish. I have fair skin and was afraid the tint would be orange. It’s not; it’s perfect. Elta MD said this sunscreen is the right choice for sensitive skin. My skin couldn’t be happier. I have lots hyperpigmentation due to age and sun damage. The iron oxides in this help treat that in sufficient amounts to make a difference. I wear this under foundation primer and foundation. It works perfectly. No pilling. This may become my new year round sunscreen.

This sunscreen resulted in a severe allergic reaction. It caused hives, rash, extreme itching, burning and welts for a week. I used the Face and Body variety, so the reaction was spread across my body; arms, neck, chest, hands, etc. I also ended up with a sunburn, so actual sun protection was also limited at best. I had to use a long term regimen of Benadryl, Zyrtec, and topical hydrocortisone cream as I suffered through the reaction. I've never reacted so horrifically to any other product in my life. I bought this product a month ago from a dermatology office, so it was definitely the true and valid product. It does leave a white cast, but I don't mind a cast as long as a product works. This is a NO from every perspective.

I tried the delta md face version it wasn't for me, keep at it you will find something from this brand. I thought I would have to with another serum or liquid molecular structure so it wouldn't irritate or clog my pores turns out although it's mineral for my sensitive skin and thicker than that it melts on and takes a physical approach which I think favors us with combo or oily skin rather than just worrying about just sensitive aspect. Because of all this it covers all basis. A little goes along way with an even, thin layer in the t-zone it will still hold up to inside tanning bed heat etc after 2 hours or swimming probably reccomend using a bit more and probably after. This will still last you a long while even if you use it on your body as well.
I love EltaMD sunscreens and took the quiz on their website to get a suggestion of which sunscreen to purchase. The quiz suggested this sunscreen. I did like the feel of the product on my skin. It also seems to work well for sun protection. HOWEVER, this product has a white cast and pink undertones. I have light beige skin with warm/yellow undertones, and this product gave my face a ghastly grey/pink look. I look unwell. It's particularly unfortunate that the EltaMD site recommended this product, as it was an expensive mistake. Those with warm undertones, I recommend that you stay away!

When I was comparing colors pre-purchase, I wasnt sure if I would go with the white/clear or with the lightly tinted, because I didnt want to have a warm colored foundation on my cool colored skin, but I have a discolored red patch on my forehead that I hoped would be hidden. The product soaks into my skin and is tinted enough that it covers up the discolored patch. (The one and only day I tried the transparent version, my 9-year-old son asked me what was wrong with my forehead. So Im not interested in trying that one ever again if I have this tinted option.) Ive been using it daily for several weeks, and the bottle feels maybe half full. Pretty pricey to me ($40 for a small bottle of sunscreen??), but the price seems worth it to have that dark patch on my forehead gone and even-looking skin without feeling like Im wearing makeup, and also not getting sun exposure.
