I have only used the car charger a few times so I cannot speak on longevity at this time. However, it has performed flawlessly every time I have used it. It keeps a firm grip on my travel mug while I am driving yet easily releases it when I want to take a drink. I have a Toyota Prius Prime and it fits my cup holder as though it were custom made for it. Fingers crossed it gives me many years of reliable service.

The car charger works great. I love being able to charge my cup on the road. I marked it down in stars because it should be USB instead of the cigarette lighter plug and because it is way over priced. Honestly, my $180 travel mug should come with a travel charger and the halo lid as well. I’m now in for about $250 on this cup. Do I love it? Yes, I do. Do I question myself daily why I’ve justified this purchase? Yes, I do.

The concept is great, fits into my cup holder fine. however I would give anything to be rid of the crazy horrible dual pull reel that is on the cord. a coiled cord, or even just a normal cord would be better. Still, it does what it says and keeps your cup charged, can't complain about that at all.

My kids gave me the Ember travel mug for Christmas last year. I travel back and forth across my state often, so I was excited to use the mug and enjoy warm coffee. While I love the mug, its battery lasted only part of one leg of my journey (~90 minutes) and at that point, it becomes a regular mug without an ability to charge it.During one of these trips, I was thinking that it there should be an option to charge it in the car. My initial thought was to make a silicone sleeve with integrated contact points for the mug on the inside and a USB-C port on the outside. After months of traveling and thinking about this, I happened to stumble across Ember’s travel charger. Mic dropped. After months of traveling and thinking about this, I happened to stumble across Ember’s travel charger. Mic dropped. I bought one immediately. The rigid, form fitting charge cup fits snugly in my cars cup holder, allowing effortless remove and consumption of my tasty beverage. If I had any complaint, which I do not, it would be around the integrated, retractable charge cable. I like routing wires in my car cleanly, meaning hiding and tucking away whenever possible and this solution makes that more difficult. I won’t modify it yet, so it floats over the shifter console. If you have a travel Ember, you need this as well.
When the mug is not empty then the battery cannot be fully charged. The charge stays the same when the mug has liquid in it. Small amount of liquid means it will not allow the mug to charge - only allows the temperature to be maintained. Tremendous disappointment and confusion for me.
I brought this accessory when I purchased the travel mug in preparation for a long trip. The mug I ended up receiving is defective, as when off a charger it constantly resets and turns on and off. The mug does work, however, whenever it is on a charger, so this accessory ended up becoming essential for the travel mug to function. Amazing accessory, just wish it could be an optional accessory for me instead of mandatory.
...and should have become available year(s) ago! This is exactly what the travel mugs need to be useful for travel. Until now, taking the Mug 2 on road trips really only made it useful for the first hour or two out of the day. After that it was just a cup that didn’t even keep things warm any long than a red Solo cup! This changes that for long road trips. It’s about time, Ember!Thank you!P.S.: I did have to do a few modifications to mine so that it would properly fit my cars’ cup holders. In at least a few of our cars the charger is just a little too small in circumference, just like the mugs itself is, allowing it to rock all over the place while driving. I fixed that with a coozy(spelling?) and some electrical tape. Because, I’m a genius.
I purchased this as soon as it came out and I couldn’t be more pleased. I have a 1.5 hour commute to work and the car charger allows me to keep my coffee hot all the way to the office and allows for enough charge so I can refill my mug when I arrive at work and keep it hot for an additional 1.5 hours! I set it in the charger on my way home and it is ready to go again for my evening cup when I arrive. The charging cup fits perfectly in my cup holder. You won’t regret this purchase!
It's ok. But it's a shame I even have to use it. Between my 15 min drive from home on a full battery to work my cup decreases to at least half a battery. That's pretty pathetic battery life if you ask me. The point of this and the wall charger is to swindle you out of more money. Not cool.
Finally! A way to use my travel mug! I bought this mug back before there was a travel charger option. I found that the battery drains pretty quickly. I would need to buy another desktop charger to use it at work. Fortunately, I got distracted and never bought a second desktop charger. Now I have a car charger... which is more the reason I bought this travel mug! It works as expected and keeps my mug charged so my coffee stays hot! My only disappointment is that the plug is not a USB male end. Maybe they were thinking of people with older cars? If this had a USB plug it would have tucked nicely into my cars center console. Instead, the cable runs across my shifter from my center console through my lower dash and into the 12v lighter input. Not pretty, but my coffee ... MoreFinally! A way to use my travel mug! Not pretty, but my coffee is hot. I suspect they will make another version at some point with the USB male plug... then I can purchase that one! Here's hoping they offer a reduced price considering how long I had to wait to get a car charger... and one that doesn't offer the USB end that allows for easy hiding of the cable in the center console.
