We have reached out to support starting on 11/20 when the mug and charger stopped working wholly. Not a "eh, it's close to it's end of life. So we'll just let it lapse". End of warranty is not and should not be 'end of life' for anything. Especially a very expensive mug.I will happily revise my review and opinion once support is received. Until then, I not only can't recommend the product but I must actively advocate to not purchase anything from a company that has a lack of support.

The battery life is horrific and takes forever to charge so it almost permanently lives on it's charging station. Cannot use it for lattes as it burns the milk at the bottom, even at the suggest temp on the app. That part isn't as big of a deal because WHEN it works, I'm fine keeping it solely for brewed coffee and tea.I just wish it WORKED more than 65% of the time especially at the price point it's sold at. This product has potential, but as is I would encourage anyone I know that is thinking about getting it to save their money.

This mug is not for you if you gulp down a cup of coffee in ten minutes. If you spend your afternoon nursing that one cup you poured after lunch, consider the following. The Ember Mug does hold the temperature of your coffee for about 60-90 minutes on one charge. The functionality will last all afternoon if you put it on the charging coaster. However, I do have some warnings. Nursing your beverage over time will lead to the last few sips being VERY HOT since the mug keeps heating independently of the amount of liquid in the container. If you like cream and sugar in your coffee/tea the effect mentioned above will turn your last remaining sips into something between cream cheese and Creme Brulee. Often, there is never a convenient electrical outlet or space on a power bar for the charging coaster's adapter. Using a USB port on a laptop would make this the ultimate travel accessory!
I bought this mug just prior to Covid and I have been using it almost daily since minus some weekends. My friend had the original Ember Mug and did not like it but I bought one of these anyway due to specs and looks. Things I don't like: The most annoying part is cleaning it daily using what I feel is the most non-abrasive sponge and regular dish detergent and once washed, waiting for it to dry completely as the rubber rings on the bottom tend to retain a little moisture and I don't want the contacts to corrode because of it. The Bluetooth doesn't rerecognize with the app very well. I thought it was my hardware (aka phone I used) but I've tried 3 different phones and one tablet and I find the same issue so I'm just now blaming the bluetooth on the mug. but once ... MoreI bought this mug just prior to Covid and I have been using it almost daily since minus some weekends. I've been caring for this cup as instructed and It's lasted me this long. I have the black one and I am starting to see the paint? coming off from the bottom of the cup? I think it's just the paint. It looks like small speckles. I am assuming it's from the hundreds of washes and the heating element. Also My battery only lasts about 20 minutes now but it's also been 3+ years. Final thought: It's still an expensive mug! But it works way better than any external heaters, It looks nice, they did a great job in balancing out the weight to usability ratio. I thought it was pretty heavy at first but maybe I got use to it. But more importantly, when I get so consumed in work and I lose track of time, My mug keeps my drinks warm and at a good temperature so I am very happy. So happy actually that now that I have to go back into the office, I am thinking about getting a 2nd one for the office. I am wondering if the metallic is painted or not. If not and it's an actual metallic coat, ....I might have to cough up the money to get one. I hate tumblers, but I also do not like cold drinks that are supposed to be hot and I don't want to keep reheating as that also takes time. Lets just say I like this mug so much I am almost willing to buy my friends one who experience the same frustrations of unwanted cooling of their drinks (as long as they have the patience for the caring and maintenance aspect of things).
I purchased this after doing quite a bit of research between a few different brands. I landed on the Ember because of its Bluetooth connectivity. Most mornings I finish my tea in 45 minutes, but there have been a few times where I lingered sipping longer than the charge on the mug. At first I thought this would be a problem, but it’s not.I also have a “favorite tea mug” which I sometimes start with (bc it holds 16 ounces vs the 14 ounces of the Ember. When it gets cold I simply transfer the tea to the Ember and let the mug reheat it to my perfect temp. Most mornings though, I start and finish with my Ember. I no longer get up 4-5 times to reheat my tea in the microwave - which I am so happy about! On a perfect morning the Ember keeps my tea hot to the last sip ... MoreI purchased this after doing quite a bit of research between a few different brands. I have to remember to “pair” my mug up - which I didn’t know would be “a thing”, but perhaps this is “user error”, however it’s certainly not a deal breaker.Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase. I do wish it was a bit bigger by 2 ounces (but I’m probably drinking more tea at one sitting than most).I do also wish the charge lasted longer, however this does not take away from the experience of no longer needing multiple trips to the microwave to reheat my beverage - most mornings I am finished with my beverage before the charge is out. The mug does alert you to your charge status, which is nice.So yes, overall I’m happy!
If you ever drank coffee out of a glass pot that was on the burner for about an hour, you know it has that burnt/scorched taste.... that is what the Ember mug will do but in 15-20 minutes. It does these even at low temperature settings.Full disclosure, I do not typically put cream in my coffee, which will mask the burnt taste a little longer but not much. Now, for tea, this isn't an issue because steeped tea leaves work different than what extracts from coffee beans. With all Ember products (particularly the joke of a travel mug that is 12 oz), the size is too bloody small. Who really needs a mug to keep a 10 oz beverage hot because you'll drink it quickly.... this product would make sense more for a 16 to 20 OZ serving, but the largest is 14 oz which is ... MoreIf you ever drank coffee out of a glass pot that was on the burner for about an hour, you know it has that burnt/scorched taste.... that is what the Ember mug will do but in 15-20 minutes. Who really needs a mug to keep a 10 oz beverage hot because you'll drink it quickly.... this product would make sense more for a 16 to 20 OZ serving, but the largest is 14 oz which is literally to the brim so in the 14 oz you're only really able to put in 12ish oz without spilling and 8-9ish in the 10oz making the sizes even more unacceptable for the price point.... which is EXPENSIVE for a mug that burns your coffee and will look like crap after a few uses as the cermaic scratches easily. For the price point, the internal coating could be more premium to reduce staining since you can't put it in a dishwasher and have to gently hand wash. I do find dropping a Cascade pod in the mug will remove tea stains after a short soak. Unlike others, I've had app connectivity issues which is good.... but there are other mugs that do this in larger sizes for a lot less money.Really sad that Ember has never really innovated new models to be better because they were on the right track with the first versions. For the price, a soft heat approach that isn't just a burning hot coil in the bottom of the mug is what one should expect and that is not this mug or any of their products.
I have used ember mugs for a few years. After two of the earlier version 10 oz ember mugs failed after a year and a half I decided to try the 14oz mug2. I like large size with longer lasting battery a lot better. It also seems to have a better quality ceramic material finish that doesn't burn, discolor or flake off like the older embers. I then recently purchased another of the same 14oz mug2 that I just received. They still have the same problem of moisture getting in the charging coil contacts which causes the charger to fail and eventually corrode the mug contacts. Only way to stop this problem is to allow the mug to dry out off the charge over night. I'm hoping the mug2 will keep it's wireless connection with the app a little better than the first ember mugs. ... MoreI have used ember mugs for a few years. The mugs are extremely expensive to only last little over a year before failing. But I really like the way they keep my coffee consistantly hot at a set temperature for over an hour.
I have had my ember mug for over 3 years, now -- it got me through all of the pandemic, where I was home every single day and using the mug for my daily morning coffee. It's finally time to buy another, but not because the mug has died completely. It has actually continued to work (at least for my weekend brews) for the last few months, it just doesn't warm for the duration of time it used to. It was capable of keeping a drink warm for about 2 hours on a single charge for the first few years; the last few months it started decreasing in how long a charge could hold temp, down to about 20-30 minutes. This along with an issue with the internal coating chipping are the reasons I'll be replacing. I would personally say this mug is completely worth it. It's just a matter of time before these things die (as with all electronics), and this mug had a really good run at 3 years, with nearly 2 of those years being abused with daily use. Note: I never bothered with the app -- the standard pre-programmed temperature was perfect for me. Those who want the app may have a different experience, but if you just want a mug that keeps your brew hot for 2-3 hours, I think you'll be very happy with it.
My spouse and I own 3 of these in black, and it's lovely to drink perfect temperature coffee. #1 is from 2019 or before, #2 from 2020, and #3 a gift from 2023. #1 stopped holding a good off-coaster charge after a few years which isn't a big deal because the coaster is handy at home. The sad thing is the #2 (2020) interior coating peeled badly after 1 year, for no reason, so we stopped using it. We treat all the mugs VERY carefully. They're used for black coffee and rinsed gently by hand. I think we got unlucky with #2. The #1 mug's coating is good so I'm happy with being able to use it for 5+ years. But it's sad we lost use of the #2 mug because they cost SO MUCH. I'm crossing my fingers we're lucky with mug #3. We're not really inclined to splurge money often, these mugs are one of our only crazy purchases in life, because we really enjoy the perfect temperature coffee. I wish they'd replace the defective #2 for free, but it failed past the 1 year mark. I guess my loss is their gain; we ended up with a third mug in the end, so they sold 3 instead of 2.
