Given that I'm not finding a quick solution to this issue, I'm finally tired of dealing with this thing. If you need something that prints, this will work, but for a home office, this isn't worth the headache.

I have found that Epson is much easier to set up than another manufacturer which I'm not sure of I'm allowed to mention here so I won't, and my first Epson was great as far as printing. This one's absolutely horrendous and I would not recommend it to anyone. I bought this one because it was on a very deep discount sale and that should have probably told me something. This will be my last Epson.

Excellent printer

I had a heavy duty Canon that finally broke, purchased the $169 Canon, terrible printer. Made of cheap plastic with constant paper jams. Returned it and purchased the Epson 3820 for $30 more. This has to be the best printer I've ever had. Smooth set up, great multi functionality, large paper tray etc. Almost the quality of an office printer. Very well made. Do not use Airprint to set it up, you will loose some of the scanning functionality. I downloaded the driver from the Epson website and all is good. Hook up to IPhone was very fast. I took away one star because I feel the colors could be a little more vibrant but over all this is a winner. Fantastic Printer
8 March 2023

We purchased the Epson® WorkForce® Pro WF-3820 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer, as our last printer (another brand) quit working. This one happened to be on sale for an excellent price, so we decided to try the Epson Brand. This printer is fantastic! Our computer does not have a CD player, so we followed the online download process and is quite simple and installed very quickly. This printer is very quiet compared to our last printer and holds up to 250 sheets of paper. A great feature is the large operating screen which also tilts for easy to read functions. We used the photo function and the photo printed out beautifully, the quality was equal to having it sent to a store with a photo department. We are extremely happy with this purchase!

Just Right Features For The Money

This is my second Epson printer coming from a WorkForce 2750 and I have been pleased with its performance and reliability. So when it came time to replace it I began my research comparing the top 4 brands in this printer class, I was quite surprised with my findings, with the Epson printing the highest quality prints with laser-like sharpness and doing so quite quickly too, only one other printer got anywhere near the quality. I needed something network ready that I could connect all my computers and devices to, I've already had the pleasure of having Epson Connect from the old printer and have iEpson app on my phone where I'm able to print from a remote location, which works very well, so finding that Epson WorkForce series printers seem to fit my needs, made ... MoreThis is my second Epson printer coming from a WorkForce 2750 and I have been pleased with its performance and reliability. So when it came time to replace it I began my research comparing the top 4 brands in this printer class, I was quite surprised with my findings, with the Epson printing the highest quality prints with laser-like sharpness and doing so quite quickly too, only one other printer got anywhere near the quality. I needed something network ready that I could connect all my computers and devices to, I've already had the pleasure of having Epson Connect from the old printer and have iEpson app on my phone where I'm able to print from a remote location, which works very well, so finding that Epson WorkForce series printers seem to fit my needs, made shopping easier, I was originally looking at the WorkForce 2960 but this one was on sale for less than it and especially given the 18,000-page duty cycle and that this can print about 75% more black and about 60% more color pages than it made it seem a no-brainer. The touchscreen menu is easy to navigate and has a customization that allows for a different color scheme for the background, it made setup a little easier, though I'd have admit it would be appreciated if the screen was a tad larger, about 3 inches instead of 2.7". The FAX performance is amazing, most in this class offer the same speed and yet it's notably faster sending FAXES. Most of my copying and scanning I'm using the flatbed screen as opposed to the ADF, which is probably why I've never had an issue with any paper jams, the exception might be when I'm doing something with legal-sized paper. The print quality is excellent on everything I've printed so far, it also does it quietly, should mention that there's a setting to put it in quiet mode and it works well. For the most part this is a good value for my level of printing, however, the ink consumption is a little higher than the others, the ones that I compared, there comprise was to reduce sharpness to save ink except for the one which came close to this one and it also uses a little more ink, so the bottom line to get that high-quality print, it's got to use a little more ink. I have to commend Epson for an outstanding job in packaging this printer, nothing is going to move in transport, took several minutes to get through all the blue tape everywhere but the package also includes a CD and power cord, so if you desire to connect phone line, ethernet or USB, you will have to provide your own cables. The paper tray can accommodate 250 sheets, the paper tray is at the bottom, if you happen to have any soft or bulky on your surface, it may interfere with how the tray opens, this is where I'd value it if Epson had place 1/2 rubber feet on the bottom but not a serious issue. In my closing, this is an exceptional home office printer that's ideal for those who print 100 sheets a week or less, if you're printing more than that it would be wise to consider a printer with larger capacity ink cartridges in order to keep your cost per sheet down. To maximize your ink performance it's also ideal to have the proper paper just for inkjet printers, I learned the hard way on my old printer, poor quality paper uses more ink. When you go to purchase this printer, it does come with ink cartridges but only the starter variety which is only about 25-30% of a normal cartridge, so I'd recommend you purchase the 888 cartridges this printer uses at the same time. Overall I'm very satisfied with this Epson printer and would recommend it to others with similar use as mine

Latest firmware update disables the use of non-Eps
3 March 2023

I’ve purchased this printer about 6 months ago and it has been working well. I’ve used both Epson ink cartridges as well as generic cartridges from a 3rd party (about ½ the cost of the Epson cartridges) with good results. However, in March of 2023 Epson pushed out and automatically installed a firmware update to the device that now PREVENTS non-Epson print cartridges from being used. This caused my perfectly working printer to immediately stop working until I purchased and installed a new set of Epson print cartridges and disposed of all the stock of generic cartridges I had previously purchased. This caused my perfectly working printer to immediately stop working until I purchased and installed a new set of Epson print cartridges and disposed of all the stock of generic cartridges I had previously purchased. This change is particularly troublesome in that Epson provided absolutely NO information on the contents of the firmware update before it was automatically installed. It INTENTIONALLY disables a key feature on which I based my original purchase of the printer – the availability of ink cartridges from multiple sources. After spending several hours on the phone with Epson support yesterday, they also indicated they have consciously decided NOT to provide any way to roll back to the previous version of the firmware. In other words, once the firmware update is installed going forward the printer will ONLY accept Epson print cartridges. Potential customers should be aware of this newly enforced limitation of the printer as well as (in my opinion) the un-professional business practice used by Epson to enforce this change. Given what I know now, I would not recommend purchasing this printer.

This is the first Epson printer I've owned. In the past had aways used HP. But after a few frustrations with HP 3in1 printers (excessive ink usage due to auto maintenance that could not be turned off, costly cartridges and premature printhead failure) I decided to try Epson. This unit received several positive reviews, so far seems to perform well. It was well packed and setup was easy. The only two critiques would be that wireless setup is a little too intuitive in that it wants to use your internet connection for most things and setting up "direct connect" so as to not expose it to the internet was a bit of challenge that required more indepth reading of the manual. You must use a device with a staus LED and be sure the LED on the device is OFF before removing it. The printer destroyed the first USD stick I tried, the second worked ok. It would be nice if the printer would display a message thats it's "safe to remove device" so the user can be sure it's ok to remove.

Solid machine but room for improvement

I wanted to replace my HP printer as I didn't wanted to be held hostage to their ink / paper subscription scheme. Setting it up for my Mac wasn't too bad. It took about 5 minutes to set up to the WiFi and connect to the computer, There's several drawbacks: 1) The WF-3820 doesn't come with any software and drivers for Mac. They have to be downloaded from the Epson website and installed one by one. There's about four installations. 2) Once installed, the only program that seems to work is using Preview to scan documents to the computer. 3) While it does print on two sides, it does NOT have two sided scanning. It's a bit of a pain but it does work. On the pro side, the document feeder works without jamming, printed documents come out very clean and fast, photos look solid, and the fax works great without interfering with my landline. For the price, it's a good value and less expensive than other online sites. But Epson could benefit greatly with better user friendly software to address the issues I mentioned.

Works Pretty Well When It Works

I researched all-in-one printers for a while and finally decided on the Epson WF-3820. It had the features that we needed and it was within our budget. Once we got the machine set up, it printed from the computer just as it should. After three days the printer started disconnecting from the wifi. We were able to reconnect the printer and haven't had anymore issues with that so far. However it does disconnect from our network on a regular basis and it will not print envelopes. Every time we get it set up to print no. 10 envelopes, we get an error message stating that we don't have the printer set up to print envelopes. We only use this a few times a week and aren't abusive to it, so I am left with the conclusion that this is not a very good all-in-one. I would not recommend this product.
