Although the ink cartridges are reasonable in size, they don't last very long and are not empty when the machine says they are. At this point, the machine will not print at all even if other cartridges are full. the cost of four replacement cartridges exceeds the cost of a new printer and, together with shipping costs, Far exceeded the off the shelf costs. I have concluded that this printer which has never worked, is unlikely to become useful ever again. I will dispose of it and purchase a new printer after searching more carefully next time.

The Epson software install worked well, but it has long pauses where nothing seems to be happening and fooled me into crashing out of it - don't do that! Just leave it to do its thing and it'll work fine. Like the printing itself, the software install is slow!!Epson's software is old-fashioned in appearance and usability, but it works well enough. Crucially, it doesn't keep telling you to sign up for useless stuff.Software Updating: Epson's software self-updates okay. Same as HPs.Sleep: The Epson won't wake up from semi-sleep mode. This isn't an issue if you are sat right next to it. Just press the 'home' button to wake it up. However, if you're downstairs and want to print from your phone or whatever, you'll need to run upstairs to ensure it's awake first. The machine has an aggressive sleep mode.Paper loading: Epson uses gravity to help the paper load from the back at an angle. HP uses horizontal paper trays where the paper does need to be set in just enough - too far and it sucks several sheets in at once, not far enough and it sends an error message. So the Epson loads paper nicely. I have reservations about it in that the loading chute also catches room dust which may build up over time, creating jams. So far it's fine.Conclusion: Despite the machine appearing worse off than my HP, I like it. I don't need super speed anymore. I hardly used multipage duplex scanning though my partner did selling the house. It prints very well and isn't too noisy or clanky. It sounds smooth. It's not huge and folds away to a smallish black oblong box, whereas the HP always has an element of the death star about it with all the projections.I haven't had a chance to see how economical the ink is yet. I've used half a quire on the ink that came with the machine, which is good. (HP will do about 5mm of sheets with what comes as new.) The ink replacement costs seem similar but of course it depends on usage. Both companies are pushing the ink as a service system which I've not taken up. HP is really aggressive with this and it has put me right off their machines..I've used HP since 1995 so they should take note.

I have had just about the world's worst luck with printers over the years, and setting this printer up I expected a nightmare. Print set up was easy and straight forward, though I will note it connected automatically to my wifi and to my computer with no issues, but after being instructed to turn it off and on again to start a firmware update it could no longer find any wifi and I had to punch in my super long stock wifi password on the crumby keyboard on the front which is not at all user friendly. I don't understand why it couldn't just search for the network again like in the set up. And if it can, definitely make that the "(Recommended)" method.
I bought the Epson Inkjet on price alone. I had a cartridge Epson printer that did the job, but was quite old and not working as well as it should. The Injet surprised me! The printing is fast and the print is so much clearer. The colours are bright and the start up set of ink has lasted for ages. We only print occasionally, but are very pleased with the Epson.
The printer is quite light, much lighter than the last one. I initially thought it was a bit flimsy but it actually seems quite sturdy. It was fairly easy to set up, I only needed help with the WiFi. The print quality seems fine but not the best I've seen. Certainly good enough for everyday use. It prints quickly. I prefer the paper to load from underneath but that's just my preference. The ink cartridges are very small and I don't know how long they will last and there is no extra large black which is a little disappointing. Overall its a very good printer for the price and will certainly encourage me to continue to use epson printers in the future.
The printer was good value and works reasonably well. I have it on a different floor to my PC, and print using WiFi. I can print from my Android phone and from Windows. I have it switched off most of the time, so I have to reconfigure things like tge date and time whenever I turn it back on. Sometimes the first page printed after being off for a long time comes out messy, so I usually print a test page or get the printer to recalibrate itself m
Constantly went into testing mode for upto 15mins when asked to print. regularly had to reprint due to Nozzle and Head issues.Calls to Tech services recommended download Firmware Updater Tool.Initially screen told me unable to. Then printer went into Recovery Mode. and stayed there. Followed online instructions. Nothing workedHave replaced the printer for same model following suggestion from Tech that It could have been an installed software error that was causing the issue.I'll give the brand one more chance.
