Brompton Compatible.

I did a lot of research to find the best Brompton compatible grips with bar-ends and these are the ones. Expensive - yes - need cutting down to fit well - yes - but they work, they are good quality and they are very comfortable. I went for the large standard version and carefully cut them down with a Stanley knife. You could go for the gripshift model but I found the grip was slightly too small for my hand. All the other makes I looked at had significant downsides even though the prices were often more attractive. Happy riding!

I ride a flat bar road bike and have had issues with hand pain due to the oversized, non-locking grips that came on my bike. I was skeptical of how much difference these would make, but I have to say I'm impressed. Instead of getting sore hands 20-30 minutes into a ride, my hands and wrists feel better for longer, and the grips feel like they absorb a bit of road vibration. My only gripe with them is that the bar end hand position is a bit awkward; it forces you to bend your wrists back a bit, and the edge of the grips puts pressure on my palms. Overall, though, very happy with the quality, ease of installation and performance.

Good inexpensive upgrade
18 May 2020

I have a cheap hybrid that I only ride occasionally. My foam grips started falling apart after many years, but I did not want to invest in a new bike. So I got these grips, and once I got them adjusted to the right angle, I loved them! They dampen vibrations just as well as the foam grips did, because much of the weight on your hands rests on the palm portions of the Ergon grips, which have some give to them. And the horns are just long enough to hook my thumb and two fingers, which is all that I need to be able to comfortably place my hands in a different position.. I did have to cut 1/2" off the inside ends in order to make it fit my handle bars and still have room for brakes and shifters.

Great improvement over stock grips
8 June 2022

After trying Ergon grips on friend's bikes, I decided to go for these. I like the short "horn" although longer ones would also be fine. As I have smaller hands, the small size is perfect. For long rides I really like having various hand positions - sometimes just resting my palms on the grip itself. They are easy to install and adjust - dialing in the correct angle took a times of trial and error. No slippage once I torqued the hex nuts to the correct in/lbs.

Hands never felt better when riding
16 September 2020

I wanted a more supportive handlebar grip to help decrease hand, wrist and forearm fatigue. Love these! Comfortable and no more numb hands. With the shape and climbing grip, my hand feels more cradled and is located closer to my brake levers. More ergonomic that my original grips.

Pricey but worth it if you ride a lot
4 September 2020

I love these Ergon GP1-L grips. I have three pairs. To me, the price is quite high for grips for your bike, but hand comfort is a big deal. I usually get tired/numb hands with regular grips, and these help reduce that problem. I have mine adjusted such that the pad part is quite "higher" than you would expect such that I get quite a bit more load on the heal of my hand vs. the palm/knuckle area.

Quality grips and bar ends
11 September 2017

Quality grips and bar ends that offer a lot of comfort. The bar ends themseves may appear short, but they follow the outer curve of the grip so when on the ends, your hands are actually 50% still on the grips, a design that works very well. The deep palm section of the grip offers great support to the heel of the hand, and the grips also absorb some road buzz and chatter. Easy to fit and they look good, as well as offering many comfort advantages. Well worth fitting in my opinion.

These grips are just so comfy to ride with. They allow you to change hand positions to suit your riding style or terrain. Easy to fit and adjust. These grips transformed an uncomfortable ride to a ride of joy. I have them on two bikes now so I definitely recommend

Very dissapointed
11 April 2020

I can't write a review the grips because they don't fit on my bike because the grips are too long. Neither REI nor the manufacturer's Website provide the LENGTH of the grips. I ordered a large grip based on my hand size. Even after moving my bike and shift levers inward, the grips are about an inch too long. Since they are designed to clamp down on the outer end of the grip, I can't attach them at all. I'm disappointed that REI would sell grips without providing the dimensions.
