When your swaddled baby begins to show signs of rolling, it is time to transition them to arms-out sleeping for their safety. The Butterfly Cardi is innovatively designed to be a transition aid worn over your babyâs swaddle or sleeping bag, to help them transition to arms-out with minimal sleep interruptions and maximum sleep comfort. The 0.2 TOG rating makes it a light layer suitable for use over any sleeping bag in any room temperature. The Butterfly Cardi features unqiue arm pockets to create a sense of containment, the feeling you baby will be used to from swaddling. By gently releasing one arm out of the swaddle at a time and into the pocket, you will be easing your baby to sleep fully arms-out over a period of 10 days, helping them get used to the new sensation as you go. With their arms inside the pocket, your baby will also have access to their hands for self-soothing. For babies who may still have a strong startle reflex, the press studs can be adjusted to make a firmer fit around your baby's torso. Read full How-to-use instructions here. The super stretch in all directions will ensure your baby remains comfortable and allow for full chest expansion when breathing. The position of the Butterfly Cardi on the body will not interrupt the natural sleeping position for healthy hip joint development.Made with our signature premium GOTS certified organic jersey cotton. Natural fibres are better for sleeping for the simple reason they are breathable, and help your little one regulate their temperature overnight. Our certified organic fibres are also skin-friendly and sensitive on eczema and dry skin conditions. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic water based dyes. Not to be used as an alternative for swaddling.

This was the perfect solution to our needs. Our little boy was out growing his swaddle but having such a strong shock reflex we knew simply using a sleeping bag with no arms wouldn't work for us. The butterfly cardi fits over the traditional sleeping bag and provides us with a full nights sleep. Our little boy has started napping on his own, rather than contact naps, since using this too. Would definitely recommend!!

I was nervous about the transition from swaddle to pouch, but didnât need to be! Our 4-month-old took a couple of naps to get used to being able to move his arms (in a limited way) and within a couple of days was happily sleeping with it with his arms tucked into the âwingsâ and his hands by his face. We started with the snug fit then moved to the looser fit. Because he can still reach his face and rub his eyes or suck on his hands, I am confident about having his arms out, which we will try very soon.

I purchased this to help transition to arms out sleeping. My 8 week old was already sleeping arms out during the day but swaddled at night. Found her to be super wriggly when swaddled and was fighting to get her arms free. This made the transition to arms out simple and fast! Love that she still had the snug fit around her chest to keep her comfy and feeling secure.

I was really hopeful this would make a significant difference during the transition to sleeping with arms out but it actually caused more stress. Our little guy didn't mind it but it didn't seem to improve his sleep at all. The stressful part was that we would wake up to find that the bottom of it had ridden up and the material was up around his neck. I'd understand if this was a one off kind of situation but it happened relatively consistently.
Love it! Used this product to transition my baby to arms out from her love to dream swaddle. Easy to use over the top of a sleep sack, we love that it adjusts in tightness so can be used up to 6 months. Gives my baby the feel of a swaddle around her chest but has taught her to have her arms free which meant only a couple of unsettled nights. Would definitely recommend
The cardi is stretchy and soft. The buttons allow for two levels of tightness depending on how strong your babies Moro reflex is. Allows baby to sleep in the arms-up position and then transition out. Unfortunately my baby was too used to being swaddled with his arms pinned down at his sides, so found arms up too frustrating. We are still trying to figure out how to contain our reflexy little guy!
Iâm sure it would work well for others, but I had a hard time transitioning my baby out of swaddling and she hated the arms up like this. She didnât like the love to dream swaddle either - so I should have known. But I had the ergo pouch which she loved, and I used the miracle blanket over top instead and that worked for us, one arm at a time. But when I got rid of the miracle blanket I had the cardie over top with arms out arms she felt more wrapped up - so it worked then.
Purchased this with Woolbabe Duvet sleeping bag as my baby is still swaddled with LTD, hoped it would be similar but the arms stretch out a lot more than LTD and my baby unfortunately could tell the difference between them as he uses the arms to self soothe on his LTDand description says the product is compatible with any sleeping bags but with thick Woolbabe duvet sleeping bag my baby looked rather uncomfortable and too tight even with the looser setting on butterfly cardi.. I do prefer transitional LTD swaddle than this! but good price! unfortunately wonât be using it đ§đ§
The product itself is the usual great quality. However, there is only one size, and it was too small for our baby. As soon as we put it on she hated it.She was transitioning when the weather wasnât too cold, therefore it would have been fine, but had it been winter I would have been worried she was too cold.We did use the arm warmers instead, which are great and probably did help, as she still had something on her arms. However I doubt this would have been an option in summer.
Purchased for my 4.5 month old to transition out of the LTD swaddles (purchased when he was 3.5 mo) Whilst we havenât fully progressed to night time with an arm out, we are doing an arm out during day naps and itâs going well! The first couple of times he woke up crying within 20 mins but now he is doing a full sleep cycle with an arm out and is waking happy. My son isnât quiiiite rolling so we are lucky to do a slow transition which he is taking well! I like that you can choose how tight you clip the cardigan so you can manage the startle reflex. We started out clipped as tight as possible and now have it on the least restrictive. With one arm out, he pretty much appears to have his arms stretched out fully. I feel much more confident putting his arms out at night ... MorePurchased for my 4.5 month old to transition out of the LTD swaddles (purchased when he was 3.5 mo) Whilst we havenât fully progressed to night time with an arm out, we are doing an arm out during day naps and itâs going well!
