It's exactly what it says on the box, but I don't see a reason why you would pick this if you weren't intending to use it explicitly with other Ergotron equipment.

It comes with two very sticky pads, about 1.5" x 6" long, to grab the tablets that we are placing on the arms. We bought the Ergotron 45-235-194 Neo-Flex Extend LCD Arm to use this with. The combination is sturdy, although we may eventually upgrade to an arm with the capability to raise and lower during use.

The combination is sturdy, although we may eventually upgrade to an arm with the capability to raise and lower during use.
I got the tray to keep my lptop off of my desktop and freeing up space. This was the perfect solution and set-up was easy and it provides a stable platform. The Ergotron system is the solution for those who are limited on table top space.

Not much to it: it holds laptops, perfectly. Everything Ergotron Ive purchased has been top notch and worth the money for quality office equipment that will outlive my working career.
I added this to my workstation to hold a 16" Macbook Pro off to the side of my desk. There isn't much to this, it's just a sheet metal piece with two adjustable rods. I think it would work well with most laptops unless you have an exceptionally large or heavy one. I wish it was a little more solid. That may be because of the way it's extended on the arm. Luckily I don't type on it directly too much.
Does exactly what he needs to hold the laptop on a moniter arm but it needs a way to lock the laptop in to it so maybe update for the future some sliding retaining clips
