Thick and Creamy. Super excited when I received this sample, we love coconut milk and cream so this was a treat. I decided to make something completely different with this sample and made a chocolate mousse which made it vegan friendly and a little bit healthier than the classic mousse. It worked which is great for a first time trying and everyone thought it was nice, something different. The coconut cream is thick and light in coconut flavour and is great value for price. There is no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives which is great. For the remaining clear thick liquid, which had a very slight coconut flavour and was thick from the Guar Gum I made a marinate for some chicken for dinner. So nothing went to waste. I think most coconut cream and milks are from Malaysia or Thailand so I wouldn't take a star off for that. So comparing this to my favourite brand AYAM this product is nice but no were near a good in my opinion. Ayam is all natural and has a higher percentage of coconut in a tin with NO thickeners and less water. Its also got a nice richer coconut flavour which we like. On other hand this sample is great value and with the milder flavour of coconut its great for a budget and for people that don't enjoy a strong coconut flavour in their cooking/ meals. Good product for the price. We enjoyed this sample but sorry not converted.

Very versatile. Found in the Asian food section on the bottom shelf. The bright green colour of the can stood out really well. This sample sat in the pantry for awhile as I didnât know what Iâd use it for as it wouldnât be something Iâd ever purchase. Next it went in the fridge as I had intentions of making mousse but that never happened ! Came home yesterday to find my daughter rifling through the draw looking for the can opener she was wanting to open the coconut cream. Sadly no ring pull though she managed ok opening it. Priced at $1 with no colours, flavours or preservatives and a 1. 5 star âď¸ HR with 76% coconut extract, water and thickener (Guar Gum ) Made In Thailand. Intrigued by what she was making as a few pots were on the go it turns out she used it to ... MoreVery versatile. Found in the Asian food section on the bottom shelf. Not something I would repurchase as I donât like the taste but can see how it can be used in a variety of dishes hot or cold from curries to mousse.

Good as mainstream product. I copped out on this one. I had every intention of actually trying to cook something with this but didnât know where to start. Siri did some research for me and I even looked at a couple of Bunch recipes but it got too complicated. My downstairs neighbour is constantly cooking up curries (and the aroma drives me crazy) so I asked her if she would like to do a taste test for me. She took one look at the tin, smiled at me and said âoh this is a great coconut creamâ. A batch was cooked up but before I could do a personal taste test she was asked to stay with her family in another suburb for the duration of the latest lock*down so I missed out. There was a courteous message from her a couple of days ago to say it was easy to use and mixed in ... MoreGood as mainstream product. I copped out on this one. The kids and grandkids loved the desserts she (literally) whipped up and her daughter has already bought a tin for her own use. Besides the fact the product is from Thailand â there is not exactly a large manufacturing set up here in Australia â the lack of a ring pull was also mentioned.

Easy Cheap Coconut Cream. I don't use coconut milk or cream, it is a rarity for me to ever purchase unless it is some sort of curry that needs it. Woolies Essential Coconut Cream is super easy to find, usually requires a good deep bend at the hips to reach down to the bottom shelf. Nice bright green can, hard to miss!I don't have a lot of experience in the coconut cream or milk department so I can not really compare it to other brands but it looks like coconut cream and it tastes like coconut cream so I would say it does a good job being coconut cream? It works well in what I only ever use it for, green curry. I really dislike cans that need a can opener. I really would have prepared a pull tab as I am terrible with can openers. Also, a smaller sized can would be nice as I have never used a full can in time before it went off. I also don't want to freeze it as well I don't really use coconut cream/milk enough to feel the need to freeze the left over. If you use a lot of coconut cream and you want to save money then go for it and enjoy the Woolies version!
Very Affordable but Watery. Very affordable at $1 a can and easily found with the array of coconut milks and creams. I have a lot of cooking and recipes pop up in my Facebook feed and I always have time to watch Marion and her mum whoâs so lovely and funny. This chicken recipe included a can of coconut cream so I thought Iâd give it a whirl. Whilst mine looked a bit like Marionâs finished dish, it was way more soupy rather than creamy. This Woolies coconut cream has less cream content than others and does include thickener where other brands do not. Even though it tasted great I would have preferred the creamy consistency. When I opened the can, after hunting for a can opener, because this can doesnât have a ring pull (and needs one) I was met with a solid light grey block of coconut cream which filled the vast majority of the can. Once the contents were added to the warm pan they dissolved into a very watery consistency. Iâm left wondering whether the thickener affected the consistency. A little disappointed to be honest. Thanks for the sample but I will pay a bit more for the one without the thickener which also has a higher coconut cream percentage.
Velvety smooth. Priced at $1. 00 is great budget value. I really like the green can. Itâs bright, easy to read, and find on the supermarket shelf. Made in Thailand. No Pull ring lid on the canThe Woolworths Essentials Coconut Cream contains Coconut Extract of only 76% and extras such as Water and Thickener (Guar Gum). My usual brand Ayam, is 100% coconut. You are essentially paying for only 304ml of coconut with the Woolworths Essentials. So it would be nice if WW would ditch the 24% of the unnecessary, as I would be happy to pay a bit more for a bit less in the can, that being with 100% pure coconut cream and not the extras such as water and thickener in the ingredients list. In comparison, these 'extras' do deter from a stronger coconut cream flavour, and reduced thickness to some recipes compared to other brands, but it has a nice velvety and smooth texture and enough subtle flavour without being too coconutty for baking. Although being a consumer of the Ayam brand, I will be inclined to purchase the Woolworths Essentials Coconut Cream now and then, based on the price and what I was using it for. I used this sample because it was the perfect can size with the âextra liquidâ, to make my recipe of lemon and coconut cream scones. The recipe has been approved awaiting publishing
Good value. This was easy to find instore. I had read a lot of interesting ways to use this from others reviews but I decided to try to make Coconut yoghurt with my Easi-yo yoghurt maker. All that was involved was adding 2 cans of coconut cream to the container with one serve of probiotic powder. Then I let it sit in the yoghurt maker for 12 hours as per usual, placed it in the fridge and it was the most solid yoghurt I have made yet (I usually use the Easi-yo sachets)I tried this with some plain oats for breakfast and it was nice, slightly sour/tangy as yoghurt is (but alternately you can add some sugar when making this, but I decided to try it without). When I opened the can to make the yoghurt it was fairly solid as it was a cold morning here, so alternatively you could just put the coconut cream straight into a container in the fridge and let it go solid and enjoy. It wouldnât have that tang to it like yoghurt then. I would buy this and make this again.
Super versatile with many tones! I received this sample & wasn't sure what to do with it as I've never 'cooked' with coconut cream so it did sit in the cupboard for a few months until I saw a cooking segment on tv using a tin of coconut cream to make some dairy free chocolate mousse. I thought how wonderful as mousse has always been alluring to me yet I can't eat it with the cream factor which personally makes me gag yet my other half laughs at which I would too as we do like to enjoy a cheeky giggle! It took me a few months to work up trying to make it & in the process I came across an old packet of raspberry jelly in the cupboard during a clean up which had a recipe on the back for a 'raspberry flummery' which made me giggle with its name but also turned the cogs ... MoreSuper versatile with many tones! It took me a few months to work up trying to make it & in the process I came across an old packet of raspberry jelly in the cupboard during a clean up which had a recipe on the back for a 'raspberry flummery' which made me giggle with its name but also turned the cogs of wheels in my mind to substitute the evaporated milk in the recipe with coconut cream to do a raspberry & choccie dairy free version of mousse so I picked up another tin of the coconut cream. I then turned to the trusty internet to look at food styling pics & came across the two toned mousse turned on it's side & thought crikey indeed! It's super versatile with many tones! With $1 for this 400 gram can it's certainly much cheaper than other brands on the shelf & it turned out most lovely in my cheeky mousse dish which I was super pleased with. I've not tried the other brands of coconut cream so can't give a comparison but this Woolies brand turned out really nice so given this I would purchase again with taste & price.
Just needs a pull ring on the can. Iâve had this sample sitting in my pantry for awhile now not really knowing what to do with it. So I decided Iâd just make a chicken curry with it. A very nice looking thick white cream greets you when opening the can. (Just realised I didnât shake the can first as instructed ). It straight away smells of coconut. I tried a little and it has a light coconut flavour (not too overpowering) and it was smooth and creamy. When adding it too my curry it helped thicken it whilst adding that creaminess to it. I couldnât fault it. The can on the other hand looks cheap and unappealing, which I find is the case with most Woolies essential products. The can also doesnât have a pull ring which I think is essential these days as itâs much more practical and easy to use. Itâs not an Australian product and is made in Thailand which is also a let down. Do we not have coconuts here?Selling at $1 this cream is cheap and does the job, so I will be purchasing this one again in future. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
Not a convert. I regularly use coconut milk and coconut cream, mainly in curries but also in soups and some baking. I have tried many brands and am firmly set on TCC as my favourite, cannot be beaten coconut milk/cream brand. So to receive this sample, which Iâve never tried before, was exciting, to see how it would compare against the best. Easy to locate in the Asian cooking aisle, the no frills plain green labeled tin stood out in its simplicity. Unfortunately, I had to take a point off before I even tried the cream itself, because the âeconomicalâ tin lacked a ring pull lid - a deal breaker in this day and age. I was very optimistic that this product would be decent, given it is 76% coconut extract compared to my preferred TCC which is 65%. Surely a higher percentage would be better? As with all coconut cream products, the tin needs shaking vigorously to ensure the coconut mixes with the water content. In this instance, no amount of shaking could get the product to move! Very thick indeed! Despite this thickness, the product was easy enough to spoon out and mix together. I had decided to make a delicious Nigella Lawson Cauliflower and Cashew Nut Curry (that Iâve made many times before, so I could compare effectively) and the cream mixed well with the other ingredients. Perhaps Iâd say it mixed too well? It was quite watery after all, and really lacked the thick creamy consistency of other coconut cream products Iâve used before. I was surprised that a product so thick could end up so watery. The taste was mild, and not at all as creamy as I would expect coconut cream to be. Whilst enjoyable enough, I knew it wasnât a winner when my husband said, mid bite, âyou used a different coconut cream didnât you?â. It really doesnât compare and really doesnât live up to the premium quality of TCC. Sorry, Iâm not a convert and cannot recommend this product.
