Pantry Staple. Good value for money. It's a vital in every pantry and even if you don't use a lot of salt it makes a great cleaner. When coffee and tea cups start looking a bit stained, I lightly rinse them and then sprinkle with salt. It acts as an abrasive and cleans them in no time with hardly any effort. I also use it to clean my sink. Rather than use any kind of abrasive cleaner that would ruin it I sprinkle it with plenty of salt and then just rub. Quick rinse and its done.

Salt varieties in Pantry. Essentials Iodised Salt 1kg is named because its large grains are good for helping meat tastier, with a clean flavour. It's easier to use than table salt; the coarse grains gives cooks more control and I like to keep a variety of salts in my pantry for different cooking - table, sea, Himalayan pink and Flake Salt. I like to make Crispy pork crackling by cutting the skin off each rasher and lay the skin on some baking paper on a thin oven tray/Sprinkle liberally with iodised table salt/Place into an oven at 200 °C/400 °F for one hourPlace the skinless rashers into a frying pan lined with baking paper/Sprinkle on the meat some sesame seeds and chilli flakes. Yum

Pantry Necessity. This product was easy to find in the cooking aisle. Love the simplicity of the packaging, with clear and precise words and a simple image for cooking. I used this within cooking a stew last night, and it was exactly as it states on the packet - Iodised Cooking Salt. It dissolved well, and I did taste it before adding, with no surprises on the taste test. This will last me quite some time, so thank you Woolworths as it is a necessity that I keep Cooking Salt in the Pantry. Great value for money in a 1kg packet, so I would definitely buy this again.

It is salt.... but. Time to be honest and upfront here, I don't buy salt like this. I haven't touched table salt or cooking salt or anything else that isn't in rock form for many, many, many years. I am a salt rock kind of girl, I will grind it myself thank you very much. I buy pink sea salt, toss it into my fancy grind, and go for gold. Yes, salt is salt, but what bothers me a lot is salt in the state that the "Essentials Iodised Salt" is in. Give me pink sea salt and I can tell you that I don't need to add iodine to it, it is already there because it is still in its natural state without being overly processed. Why, why, why does "cooking salt" or "iodised salt" exist? Why? Why do we need to take something that has minerals in it naturally and strip it to nothing ... MoreIt is salt.... but. Why do we need to take something that has minerals in it naturally and strip it to nothing but sodium and that add on so iodine to make it seem healthy again?I am going to give this one a 3 star for the price otherwise it would get a zero. It tastes like salt, so it is salt, but not for me it just doesn't tick my boxes and needs. Sorry Woolies but I can not promote a product that has anti caking agent in it, I don't care if all the research out there tells me that it is perfectly safe form of cyanide but it is still that, cyanide. I will stick to my rock salt, no anti caking agent, and use as needed and be clump free.
Very affordable iodised cooking salt! What a great price for a kilo of salt! At only $1. 09 a bag, this salt is great value. If you're happy to decant the salt into your own shaker/container, buying a bag in bulk like this is a great idea, so cost-effective. This salt is great, very fine grains perfect for cooking. I would recommend this salt as it is excellent value and I would purchase it again.
Good value for a more healthy Iodised salt. Although hard to review, found it as good as name brands at a value for money price. Great that it is a 99% pure "Aussie" product (although I always wonder about the other 1%... Hehe !!!). No caking lumps... salt flowed freely. Bright blue packaging... easily spotted in a crowded pantry. Would definitely prefer an air tight resealable packaging. Thank you Woolworths, I will be buying more of this product in future. ☺
Cooking Salt? I’ll have to confess that I’ve always used table salt in my cooking as I didn’t know there was a difference until you gave me the opportunity to test it. Well, wow! Cooking salt is so much stronger than table salt. I did the wet finger test and was amazed. I don’t think I’ll add as much to my cooking like I’ve been doing with the table salt. Therefore it has to be more economical. Shame it can’t be in a container instead of a packet. Thanks for the lesson Woolies.
Does the job. We don't buy salt regularly, preferring to add herbs and spices to our food for flavouring. In order to use this product for a review, I made some pickled carrots and cucumbers. The salt did its job. The price is good at only $1. 09 for 1 kg, so it's economical for those who use it often. It can be refilled into your own containers. The packaging is very no-frills looking. Not particularly attractive but it does what it should, and with the relevant information included. This product is contained inside plastic packaging. There is another Essentials salt product (table salt, not iodised) that is contained inside paper packaging. If I do buy salt, I will probably get the paper packaging one and get my iodine from fish, etc. Good to see that this product ... MoreDoes the job. Big tick on that.
A GOOD LESS EXPENSIVE PRODUCT. I suppose salt is salt. We've never really thought that different brands could taste different. We used this salt in a variety of ways.... in cooking and on a salad. We found this salt palatable and its taste zooshed up the curry and casserole. And of course Iodised is always better for the inclusion of iodine in the diet. So why pay for a more expensive brand when this particular Woolworths Essential brands tastes every bit as good. As we don't eat a lot of salt, a 500 gram packet would be more practical for us. For ease of use we have decanted the salt into a container which can be placed on the dining table.
Great salt. I was in need of replenishing my salt canister, as it’s nearly time to do some relish. I’ve never noticed iodine in cooking salt before, but that gets a big tick from me. ✅ Did you know our bodies need iodine? It can be found in some foods such as tuna, cod, seaweed, and shrimp (To name a few) as well as milk, cheese & youghurt. We need iodine to make thyroid hormones, these help to maintain the body’s metabolism, as well as other functions. There was a report on the news recently about some Aussies lacking in iodine, due to using rock salt. Iodine is added to the salt, it was added mainly to prevent goiter (Enlarged thyroid) in people. The salt is fantastic, lovely and clean. ✅This is 99% Australian salt. I presume the other 1% is the added Potassium ... MoreGreat salt.
