Exceeds Expectations! Great value. I was skeptical of this product, I was expecting it to clump and be gluggy. (I have vague memories of trying either this or another home brand pasta many years ago, and recall it being fairly average). The pasta was fantastic! It tasted and cooked up as well as any of the popular mid range brand names. I used it with a home made bolognese sauce, and the entire family gave it the nod of approval. Was it the best pasta in the entire world? Would I serve it at a dinner party for the king? Well, no and no, but the cost would be a LOT higher for the premium artisan brands. (I'm not expecting royalty to pop around any time soon though, so thankfully my grocery budget is safe )But is it just as good as most brand names in Woolies? Would I ... MoreExceeds Expectations! Can do lots with this budget item. It may come under the heading of cheap but it is not nasty. I put a handful of spaghetti into the pot of boiling water then thought about what to put with it. Naturally enough I should have got things ready beforehand but of course I didn’t. Grabbed a small amount of frozen chicken bitses and headed for my trusty microwave to practice my defrosting protocols. Added some diced cheese, olive oil, fresh lemon juice and condiments (salt and pepper) together in a bowl then put in a few pods of peas. After straining the spag I dumped the other goodies on top and mixed it through then left it all to “rest”. There was no gluggy-ness that some others had mentioned and it was smooth on the tongue. A repurchase item for me.

Giving the big brand Spaghetti a run for their money. This homebrand sample surprised me. I really thought it would cook, go limp and stick in a block. My my, how far the homebrand has come. Packaging is simple and non descript and I had to actually look for it on the shelf as it seemed to just blend in. Followed the instructions on the pack and it cooked up nicely and wasn't gluggy at all. It went well with my pasta sauce and honestly you could not tell the difference between this and the other brand in the blue packet that I normally buy. Priced at. 80c it is an excellent cheaper version and I will definitely be buying this again. Try it - you will probably like it!

Simple Pasta - dont overcook it. This pasta needs to be added to boiling water. It doesn't take the time it recommends for cooking so keep an eye on it. If you like thin spaghetti this is great. Taste the same as other Pasta Brands. It would be good if there was a couple of different shape/sizes of this brand and it would be perfect. Our family prefers Fettuccini or Spirals but this is good for a change when you want the smaller pasta volume. It hasn't got enough body to hold onto the Bolognas etc if you need it to. If it clumps together some oil works great - just use the utensil in your sauce get rid of most excess and mix the pasta - it will separate if not stuck together for too long. An Essential Essential. Spaghetti is a regular meal in our house. This spaghetti is a winner - great price, always available, and made from Australian wheat! The only negative I have (loss of a star) is that I find it a little thicker/more dense than some other more expensive brands. Sometimes I treat us to a different brand if on special, but this is our go to. Some consumers may prefer the denser texture. Will continue to buy and always have at least 1 packet in the pantry.

Affordable and quality. I regularly buy this Woolworths Essentials spaghetti. The 500g pack is a great size and it is only $0. 90 a pack. This pasta is quick to cook, taking around 10-12 minutes. It cooks well and remains separate. I find it pays to watch it for the last few minutes to cook this to the desired taste and texture. This pasta makes a great, budget friendly addition to a meal. I served this spaghetti with meatballs and pasta sauce. I always have a packet in my cupboard and it is versatile and well liked by my family.

Good value. It pretty much ticks all the boxes for a cheap staple. Made in Australia and cooks up pretty well as per the instructions. The dry pasta itself was a little bit spotty but not a big deal. It tasted nice to us. The only thing that confuses me is why woolies has two generic brands of pasta. The Essentials one as per this sample and the Woolworths one. The essentials is 90c and the Woolworths one is $1. The Woolworths one always used to be $1 and I used to buy it all the time and then the price went up to $1. 20 all of a sudden along with every other product. Now it is back to $1. If the Woolworths branded one stays at $1 I think I will continue to buy it as it doesn't seem to present as spotty and never had an issue with it. Thanks for the sample.

Great product, easier on the grocery budget. I buy this pasta every grocery shop. It is quick to cook and user friendly. Perfect for spaghetti bolognese, carbonara. No complaints from the family when we use this pasta. Good price point, even though it keeps increasing in price. Especially when compared to brand named pasta. Easy to find in the pasta aisle. Long pantry life. Will continue to have as part of our grocery list.

Good staple. Although this did not look as appealing in the packet as other dried pasta I decided to give it a go. The instructions said to cook in boiling water for 10-14 minutes. I cooked it for 12 minutes but I found that this was too long as the strands became quite soft. I think 10 minutes might help the spaghetti keep its shape better. I made it as the base of Spaghetti Bolognese and I liked the taste. It made for a very filling meal. The price is very budget friendly as it is much cheaper than other brands and will go a long way. I also like that it is all Australian ingredients. I will continue to have this on hand as a easy pantry staple.

Excellent value for money. Product of Australia 4 HSR No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. I had trouble locating this in the pasta aisle. It was on the very bottom shelf and this the only packet left was right at the back. Im not crazy about the red packaging, it feels dated and could do with a revamp 80 cents for 500g packet. Very budget friendly and excellent value for money Ingredients… just 2 ….. Durum Wheat Semolina and Wheat Flour. Cooks in 10-14 minutes which is longer then some other pasta. It cooked up well and didn’t stick together. I cooked up a cherry tomato, spinach, bacon and parmesan pasta dish. The pasta held its shape and was really delicious. As good as more expensive brands. I’d be happy to buy again and recommend. The only negative ... MoreExcellent value for money. Product of Australia 4 HSR No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
