Just does what it says, the silicone rim protects my essteele non-stick pan and it fits well. The only thing that gives me pause is that, because the glass is flat, it doesn't drain off moisture condensation as much as a curved lid would, so it's harder to see the food inside without lifting the lid and tilting it to get rid of the condensation, but it's worth it to be to not worry about scratching the rim of my pan.
