Today I am reviewing a marvelous eau de parfum by Estée Lauder, “Beautiful.” While it may not have the most original name, the fragrance surely lives up to it. My deluxe sample sized perfume came to me displayed in a gorgeous, tulip shaped glass bottle with a gold metallic cap. The warmth of the Amber and Sandalwood base supports these floral components as they tantalize your senses. This perfume lacks the sharpness that you sometimes find in a floral fragrance. I think especially with the Ylang Ylang and Tuberose components, there is a luxurious softness to this fragrance that manifests as a warm blanket of heavenly blossoms. I believe this is the perfect fragrance for any romantic occasion - wedding or otherwise. Enjoy the lovely spell that is cast with this gorgeous perfume!

I finally purchased Estēe Lauder Beautiful a few months ago after holding out for a long time. I have never been a fan of this fragrance house. I have always found their floral fragrances to be loud and screechy without having any refinement. However, I heard a podcast review that convinced me this would be a good blind buy. After wearing this a few times, I can say this is a mature, yellow floral that leans green and takes a while to dry down. Each time I spray this, I want to hate it. It smells like rubbing alcohol mixed with tuberose and aldehydes to me. I wear Chanel No. 5 regularly and am not adverse to aldehydes. I find tuberose suffocating and difficult though. This is an 80’s perfume that has ALL the flowers in it. Rose, jasmine, and lilac are notes I look for and love in perfumes. I do not smell them here. The tuberose dominates with mimosa flower in the background. On the dry down, I get a more woody feel as sandalwood and cedar present. This is a more comfortable feeling for me that I enjoy. It smells nice when it dries down in clothing and lasts for days. It will also last through showers when you spray it on your skin. This very much reminds me of a “church perfume” that I must have smelled growing up. It is reasonably priced and still sells well though it is a bit outdated. I recommend this if you are partial to yellow florals with a woody base that have no sweetness to be found.

I am a loyal Beautiful Perfume customer/user for the past 30 years. This is the one and only perfume I have worn and loved during these years. I recently purchased the largest bottle of Beautiful perfume from the Estee Lauder site which cost me close to 200.00. However, I did not mind since my love for it never dies.But, I am very disappointed to find out after purchasing this bottle, they have changed the formula or smell!!!!! SHAME ON YOU ESTEE LAUDER!! for not notifying us on this change. I would have NEVER bought this if I knew!!I know my beautiful perfume smell and I had a little left over from my previously bottle and there is a huge difference and it does not last like the previous version.I guess I got dooped!! Beautiful is beautiful

This is a really great perfume. This doesn't cause migraines and if you think it smells strong...try it on the skin. I avoided for a long time because it seemed floral and worried it would cause migraine. I didn't like how it smelled on the paper. The skin is where you apply and it is a really nice perfume. My husband complimented me on it. My daughter really likes this perfume too. So don't let the paper strip turn you away...this is a great perfume. It is a beautiful and complex perfume...floral, citrusy, woodsy...it's beautiful. The name is perfect for this perfume.

Beautiful perfume totally destroyed.

The Beautiful perfume I have known, worn and loved for decades is no longer what it once was. The formula definitely has changed The new formulation is cheap smelling, harsh, with an intense alcohol like medicine smell you would associate with a badly made drugstore knockoff.....just awful. It also does not last long which is the only blessing. Anyone familiar with the original can smell the difference immediately. I used to get so many compliments all the time, not anymore quite the opposite.I've gotten some negative feedback was even asked why I changed perfumes which has been quite disheartening. Shame on Estée Lauder for destroying what was once one of the most iconic and stunning fragrances ever created. I am a former counter manager for Estée Lauder back in the UK. My Estée Lauder training school involved the layering of fragrance. The instructor a well known makeup artist to the late Queen mother of England decided to use youth dew. I took a sniff and thought this is a fragrance that will forever to continue to be a part of Estée Lauder. We all layered each other on our arms. The Youth Dew cream, followed by a light dusting of Youth Dew powder and a spritz of Youth Dew Fragrance. I was sold on it. Fresh not overwhelming only if you were to lose control and use the Youth Dew fragrance with a heavy hand.Off to my home I went in the London suburbs via a 29 minute train ride in a very packed with people rush hour London employees. I told her and the next person was a man. "What a marvelous smelling perfume. He asked where he could buy it for his wife. It must have been several people asking me that question. The name of Youth Dew where it could be purchased. This took place in 1986. That same year I immigrated to the USA. Lived in LA for 6 months moved to AZ. I was employed by Estée Lauder in Tucson AZ. Oh the Youth Dew story never stopped.Unfortunately the department store I was employed by closed down. Off I went to follow my dream to become a professional motion picture makeup artist. I never ever left for any production without my Youth Dew. For me personally it was a big hit everywhere I went. To this day although I do wear other perfumes, my Youth Dew is never far away from me. The Estée Lauder company has designed some wonderful fragrances... For me my Youth Dew and being a part of the Estée Lauder family as an employee both sides of the Atlantic Ocean was truly one of the best careers choices I made. To think I set out my journey to become a film editor in the UK and Europe..

Something is Different

I have worn Beautiful since it was introduced in the mid-80's.It has been My signature scent and I have received countless compliments.I have tried a coupla other perfumes but nothing has been able to lure me away from Beautiful.However, the last bottle that I purchased had a slightly different smell. Something is definitely different. The perfume has a component, when I apply it, that I smell and it reminds me of some nameless drugstore cologne. It's really affecting my experience with my Beautiful.I actually don't wear it because the difference seems huge to me.. I just don't wear any scent now. And I don't like that. It's a real loss, to me.

When my order arrived I set the new bottle still in its box unopened on my nightstand until needed. About a week ago I opened the new box because I ran out of my other beautiful. Of course, the return window has expired. If I can save one person out there from wasting their money on old or knock off perfume, this loss will be worth it to me. I have since ordered another bottle from Marcy’s that will be here on Monday and I will never order from this company again.
