Poorly finished ball end. Had to reshape before I used it. Grip is nice. Paint isn’t going to last, more for decoration. Bought 4 different sizes of these hammers all have the same quality issues.

Estwing - Old Reliable Made-in-USA Quality. These last a life time, but I buy one every once in awhile when mine get a little beat up or painted over. I sometimes give to my overseas relatives, who are a lot harder on them and say they last-ten-to one over the chinese stuff. I am always willing to pay more for USA tools when they have this kind of quality.

Estwing's one piece hammers are of very high quality and, while their price is a bit more than most hammers, they are worth the cost. The shock reduction handles works well, reduces hand fatigue, and the handle bottom flares out so you can get some "flick" in your swing. The single piece design makes this hammer pretty much unbreakable for normal use and has a better balance point than that of hammers with wooden shafts. Also, you don't need to worry about the hammer head flying off this hammer like with a wooden handle. I've had an electrician's version since 2012 and it still is going strong.

I went back and forth on what size I wanted to get for my go-to hammer at work in an auto shop. I was hesitant to get a 1 piece due to it's use and considered a wooden handle hammer I decided on the eastwing based on prior experience with their products and I'm glad I did. I don't get any shock/vibration beating on stuff with it. The ball end has a slight taper as other reviews say, but it's not horrible and doesn't bother me.

Not sure why the rating wants a light weight rating. The hammer is purchased for the weight your looking for. It might be light or heavy. This hammer is balanced for my needs and weighs what i need. I like the handles and have had one of these hammers for 30 years or so. It is just as good as this new one I just bought recently. I wanted another one for several locations where my tools reside.

This hammer seems to be of high quality, but a lot of small details seem off on it. The handle material is rough and unrefined, there are chips in the metal on the neck of the hammer, and the biggest issue of all is, for this to be a ball peen hammer there needs to be a ball on the back of the head. Unfortunately whoever did the grinding on this head and finished it did not make the ball round, there are two pronounced grind marks that lead up into a dull point in the middle, making it useless as a ball peen hammer as it will cut into the material leaving a line. Ill be returning this item and trying to get another. Will update after I receive the second one. I have attached pictures to show all issues as proof.
