An Hatchet that will last forever. A touch heavy, but that's to be expected with a estwing. The black paint seems to be extremely durable. Case is just as tough. Also works great with both hands. Very very sharp, Cuts deep and clean.

This is just a black version of Estwing world famous silver camp axe that's been helping woodsman and campers seems like forever. The balance. the feel can't be matched Everyone know Estwings quality... it's all here ,just wrapped in black this time, outstanding camp axe. Should bring years and years of service just like the rest of Estwings products do.

Love this. Bought for splitting logs for the chiminea which it does with ease. I have an Estwing hammer and have always found the grip very ergonomic and this is no different. Even after continued use I don't feel any shock impact through the handle. Splits logs with ease and so far no sign of fatigue on the blade.

I like having all metal. It's great to have the rubber on the handle too. You can do a lot when you really know how to use an axe, and a lot of people prefer wider heads and wood handles to get a wide variety and a lot of work done with one tool. It would be easier to do splitting type tasks if this axe head wasn't so thin. Saves weight that the handle takes up I guess. It's definitely made for camping, as in take it somewhere and don't worry about the handle breaking, or slippery wood. If you prop wood up the right way you can split it with this axe but I recommend sharpening it to have a "duller" or "more rounded" edge as opposed to the more knife-like grind that makes it easy to get this thing really stuck in the wood, and makes it easier to get big dents or even ... But if you want to use this to chop trees down quick and strip branches off logs fast, leave that edge steep and sharp and you'll see where this axe makes its money. the smaller version is fun to throw too, no wood handle to break.
I used this exact same axe for two years at a groundskeeping job, and knew, in my heart, that I'd found my weapon of choice for the zombie apocalypse. Serious review - it's a good, solid axe, minimal vibration and shock to the hands, and the one I used at work, despite being beaten up, would still chop through 2-inch thick branches in a single blow. Once while clearing a path, I hacked my way through a fallen 8-inch tree in under a minute. I've recently gotten interested in camping and wilderness survival, so this was the first tool I bought. I know it'll be dependable and long-lasting for building shelters and cutting firewood. Non-serious review - only amateurs go for guns in a zombie apocalypse. Gunfire draws the creatures. Good ol' Blue here can take them down, one at a time, with a quick THOK or SKLCCH (depending on anatomical target choice). And after what they did to your family, you want to kill them up close and personal, don't you?
The Durability of Estwing E45ASE 26 camper axe goes beyond than just camping. The sharpness of its make, last for some time. Easy to carry around with its lightness, and the blunt end has its different usages. The grip of the handle makes its continue usage for prolonging. I do a LoT of forestry work. It helps to carry or drag blocks or logs. Still have mine ( 3 years ), and continue using all the time. The only draw back? Is having one. Second one is in route ...... YEEEEEESsss. p.s. had to paint it, to distinguish from other personals Estwing axes.
Actually precisely what I was looking for, Estwing are phenomenal tools, this is my second one, more of a long hatchet where my other is an axe. Great STEEL, and that comes from a person whose pocket knives will always shave, or they won't be carried. It's more expensive than others like it, but worth every penny
Quality ax. East-wings axes are a great choice; however the special edition finish that I paid double my regular 18 east wing, wears off in the first round of targets at 15 . Throws great, but save your money. The stainless 18 ax is the better thrower for the money.
I am absolutely stunned with the quality of this camp axe! Terrific quality, great weight and well balanced, and very sharp. This axe is just what I was looking for and more, love it. Very good price for such a high quality axe. I did get 2 and I sure am glad I did, I put one in each of my trucks. Thank You So Much. If anyone needs a great camp axe, THIS IS THE ONE!!
This is my favorite axe for doing backyard brush cleanup. It balances nicely in my hands absorbs shock well and the blade is amlost perfect. Its light enough to carry on your belt or in a backpack. However, being made completely of steel, Im surprised that only after about 12 hours of continued use, the handle is bent. I may try to bend it back... or maybe just buy another one... or buy a different brand. I am on the fence about whether I would buy this again. Its probably best for only light usage. Like I said.... its my favorite because of its size and how it feels in my hands. The handle quality (strength) absolutely needs to be built stronger though.
