Only reason I give it 4 stars is because the rivets that hold the butt plate on the handle are a little janky. Other than that, classic leather handle and good balance make this hammer a good choice. Thor might be a little jealous of this one.
It looks pretty well made. But the steel is pitted in several places from poor casting I assume. It digs well as well as handling balance is pretty good. It’s a modern attempt to produce the quality finish of prior times. Not quite there but it’ll do for my needs as long as the steel isn’t flawed and it breaks.It isn’t a poor quality product though.
Been wanting one of these. Glad I spent the money for it. Going to come in handy prospecting.
Nothing beats a quality American-made tool. This is a functional work of art - a throwback to the time when "Made In USA" meant you were buying the best! I have the matching Estwing hatchet, with the same compressed leather handle - they look great together. You can probably buy cheaper... but I guarantee you won't buy better.
