Bought to replace same product which has performed faultlessly but which was approaching its (500gb) capacity. Very happy with this brand. The 2tb will future proof my storage/backup need, even with ever increasing photo image file sizes. USB3 for quick file transfers.

Hi,I'm very ill & my illness's affect my memory & thinking abilities... :( I use Win7 & I bought this to download my files/folders,etc AND a 'system image'. I found I could load my files & folders because this is formatted with "FAT32" - But I couldn't download a 'system image' ie the 'drivers' from my computer because it Hasn't got the ability to load "NTFS" as well... :( - However I took it to my friend (who builds computers,etc for a living). I Don't know what he did to it,but Now it can.... :) I'm Not 'technically competent' enough to say more... Thanks

Good value for huge capacity drive.

I was attracted by the low price compared to WD or Toshiba but expected it not to perform as well. In fact this 4TB HHD's performance seems to be on a par with those others which I also have. I use it permanently stationed by the computer so cannot comment on how well it takes being carried around with the inevitable bumps! But very good value for a very large capacity small form method of keeping photos .

Great external HDD at a bargain price

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and am pleased with my purchase. Robert Dyas was the best price I could find and click and collect from my local store was convenient.

Pros I have been using it for about a month and I've no complaints about its performance. It is pretty much silent and seems plenty fast enough for my needs (local backup). Being a Linux user, I formatted it to Ext4, so that I could write archives > 4GB. No issues. No suggestion of frailty or unreliability (fingers crossed), only time will really tell on that score of course. I connect it via a USB3 port, no problems. Looks nice. Isn't heavy. I think it is good value for what I paid. Cons Nothing major. My eyes aren't capable of reading the "user manual" without a magnifying glass, but it doesn't turn out to contain very much of importance anyway. The unit has been made deliberately difficult to open and inspect the contents. On the other hand, some of us tinkerers are legitimately curious to know what exactly we have bought, other than a mysterious black box. Supplied USB lead is 40 cm, quite short, but I don't have a cable with a suitable connector (Macro B to unit, I think) to test whether there are any technical issues with longer ones (e.g. power drop).

I really dont understand whats going on with this packet. I was supposed to receive the packet on Monday and today is Wednesday already. I need it before Friday for my vacation!!! Please do something about it, I need it before Friday!!!

It works, but is incredibly slow. Only tolerable for occasional backups of not too large files. I still have 2 external hard drives from other manufacturers here, which are a long way from the manufacturer's specifications but are still many times faster.
