I have used the Ode 1 for quite a while now.I have a Kruve sifter and have used this to dial in the grinder.I do agree with Steven Holm (Home Grounds) and his review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyRPWXMNa44What I found is:Gen 1.1 Burrs - These are good for the coarser grinds - french press - they do make a high percentage of fines below 400mm.Gen 2.0 Burrs - These are excellent for everything, for the V60 I set the grind at 2.2, when shifted I have 0.02g <200mm and 0.9g >800 (for a dark roast I set it at 3.0)For the truth about the Gen 2.0 burrs see Lance Hedrick's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_Yls6-5vkQMoca pot - 3.0Flair - 3.2Mocomaster drip - 6.2French press 7.1 for lighter roast and 8.2 for darker.I am very happy with the grinder, it is ... MoreI have used the Ode 1 for quite a while now.I have a Kruve sifter and have used this to dial in the grinder.I do agree with Steven Holm (Home Grounds) and his review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyRPWXMNa44What I found is:Gen 1.1 Burrs - These are good for the coarser grinds - french press - they do make a high percentage of fines below 400mm.Gen 2.0 Burrs - These are excellent for everything, for the V60 I set the grind at 2.2, when shifted I have 0.02g <200mm and 0.9g >800 (for a dark roast I set it at 3.0)For the truth about the Gen 2.0 burrs see Lance Hedrick's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_Yls6-5vkQMoca pot - 3.0Flair - 3.2Mocomaster drip - 6.2French press 7.1 for lighter roast and 8.2 for darker.I am very happy with the grinder, it is the best that I have used.I am more than happy with the 2.0 burrs, these make the bean the best it can be.Upgrading to the new 2.0 burrs will be the best money you will ever spend. It is very easy to swap them out and it only takes 15 min, see Fellows DYI video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VmzxMglyboEnjoyAnd, yes, they are better than the SSP burrs, but that is only my humble opinion.

The Gen 2 Burrs are a game changer for the Ode. They allow me to grind much finer for different brew methods without sacrificing flavor or clarity. Additionally, the installation process could not have been easier thanks to the video from Nicholas. Great job on these burrs, Fellow. You’ve escalated a grinder from great to perfect with them.

This burr set is beyond impressive. Exceeds expectations for quality and consistency. The grind sizes are more useful as this set produces more finer settings. I am a pour-over V-60 drinker buying light to medium roasts. I am finding that any setting below 4 is too fine and clogs the filter paper and over-extracts the brew. I’m settling in to grinds between 4.1 and 6.2 now. The Gen 1 never went above 2 for me.The only reservation one might have is a question of durability. But given the performance of the previous generation burr set I am not worried about it.This was a terrific purchase and very much worth the small effort required to install. Highly recommended to any Gen 1 owners.

Ordered the Gen 2 burrs after being so hesitant for a long time, but the value for money between the Gen 2 and the SSPs made the decision to purchase the Gen 2 a little easier. Especially after watching reviews after reviews on YouTube.Fitted and calibrated the burrs unto my 1st gen Ode, was easy following the instructions from Fellow's channel.First filter grind & brew just blew me away! On 6, the grinds were smaller then the OG burrs, but consistancy looked far better. And the brew was spot on clarity and flavour. If you're on a budget and looking for a good upgrade, don't shy away from these Gen 2 burrs.
Installation mostly went smoothly. I needed to give the old stationary burr a couple of light taps with a tool to free it up. Otherwise, the instructions and video were great. Getting visibly more uniform grinds and smoother cups with medium roast. Grinds are much finer at the low settings –– I need to increase my usual Ode settings by ~4 points to adjust for the Gen 2 design. We're trying the finer grind settings with the recent Fellow drop from Sey, our first attempt with a modern roast . It's a different coffee experience with notes we haven't tasted before. Not quite dialed in yet, but I think we're getting close. The new burrs aren't broken in yet, but so far so good.
Installation took me about an hour. I didn't rush and watched the installation video several times. The burrs are definitely grinding finer than the previous generation burrs. I am able to brew Aeropress on the number four setting, where I previously used somewhere around 2. The coffee tastes great. I've also done a few pour overs using a Melita single cup device and that came out quite nice too.I'm not sure how to quantifiably judge the version 2 burrs. The previous ones were not bad. Subjectively, these are better.
Let's talk about these burrs. I have enjoyed my Ode for a few years and one of the things I love the most about it is the replaceable parts. Who else does that? Fellow does.I bought into the buzz about the new burrs so I sprung for a new set.Even after following the youtube video and being handy, I did struggle with the installation a bit, I admit it. Get one little thing wrong and your burrs won't be happy. Get it right though and you'll be enjoying them in no time.It was fun taking apart my Ode to see exactly how it works. Even though it took 2 attempts to get it right I'm glad I did it. It paid off.I was surprised, honestly, at the difference. I am not at the level of coffee nerddom as most people upgrading their burrs, but I strive to be because it's worth ... MoreLet's talk about these burrs. I am not at the level of coffee nerddom as most people upgrading their burrs, but I strive to be because it's worth it.Nothing is better than a perfect cup of pourover coffee. Now that I have spoiled myself with fancy coffee place coffee at home every day there is no going back. With my Ode and upgraded burrs I am my own favorite barista and my creations are sublime.
Far superior burr set compared to the current stock (v1.1). I am able to achieve much higher extractions with more pronounced floral notes (where present) and increased sweetness. This is a "must do" upgrade for anyone not using the SSP burr set.The video and written directions are clear and the end-to-end process quite simple. Cracking the hood made me appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the Ode's design. For the price (or even a bit more), these burrs are a great value. For me, now the Ode finally delivers on its promise (caveat: I was quite underwhelmed by the stock burr set and the results in the cup).
I had the SSP MP burrs before and ordered the Gen 2 burrs out of curiosity, not thinking I’d be so quick to get rid of the SSP burrs. Well that’s not how the story went. The Gen 2 burrs make some of the best filter coffee I’ve ever had. It has a thick and juicy body with plenty of clarity to pick out flavor notes. Overall I much prefer the coffee from Gen 2 compared to SSP MP and I really like light roasts and high acidity.
See my grinder review, lack of customer service. The grinder and these Gen 2 brew burrs are both 5 stars when combined. I bought the Gen 1 grinder and the Gen 2 burrs, even when I asked about the "Gen 2 grinder" (really just a Gen 1 with Gen 2 brew burrs pre-installed...), hence the 3 stars, for not being transparent and honest with a customer, who asked 3 different people (customer svc., tech support, sales) specifically about this, 2 wks. before it dropped. (To be clear, the Gen 2 burrs that are $80, Not the SSP red coated burrs that are $185).Uncool move on a customer by Fellow.
