This is my sixth Fender amp; I have a '68 Princeton Reverb, a Mustang III, and a few practice amps scattered at my relatives' houses. This is by far the most useful of all of them.My main gigs at the moment require a diverse array of sounds. This amp is perfect for that; I can dial in any sound I want, know that it sounds fantastic, and keep everything in playlists. This beats the Mustang III because of portability (that amp weighs over 36 lbs, vs 19.5 for the GTX), it has much better fx routing, and it sounds better. I am mystified by these threads. Using tube amps for their overdriven sounds means cranking them up to ungodly volumes. This is only applicable in studio settings or for extremely loud genres. With the GTX, I can dial in any kind of sound I want, pre-program the volume I would like to have it, and switch between settings with a single footswitch. One moment I can be playing a cutting funk riff on a Twin, and the next moment, play some distantly growling power chords on a Marshall stack. Why would I want a tube amp?In short, this is the best setup imaginable for the type of gigs I do. Plug and play done right.

If they provided the digital brains of this amp as a GFX foot unit or even a rack unit, I'd sell all my other gear to buy it.I do wish they would continue with more updates, but it seems there is no further development being done on this. The last firmware update was in May 5th 2020.

The GTX50 had great mod settings, I appreciated the on board tuning and the app customization but had a fatal flaw. The bluetooth and wireless function intermittently. And for a bedroom player, the volume and sound aren't much to complain about. [and sound of all the effects and multiple amp/cab combos aren't that bad either]. There shouldn't be a [useless] FAQ section for connectivity issues the same day the amp is released.It's sort of like this video game comparison: play western RPG games for a few months [Skyrim, Witcher 3, Dragon's Dogma, etc], and then switch to playing japanse RPG games.. the difference is insane; you get flooded with all kinds of things you can do pretty much right away, but your direction is constantly being thrown off due to exactly that.Great idea, terrible execution. I'm going back to a traditional set up - a simple but nicer tube combo amp and a pedal board. You can't beat it for an enthusiastic bedroom player.
First off, I own some of the biggest, heaviest, tube amps (Marshall, Mesa Boogie), and yes, I can play well! But sometimes I don't want to work my back overtime packing up for jam sessions and such. I bought this amp because it is light weight, BUT, I get very respectable tones and playablity! I am NOT saying this beats my Mesa, but I am saying I love this amp and am proud to shred and pound out sonic art with it! Thanks Fender! Well Done! Oh, and I really like the ability to overview things via my cell phone! Very happy!

I have had it for 3 days and have only put down my guitar to work. Right now, I am listening to apple music through it using the bluetooth feature. What I like best is the opportunity to get sounds that are only obtained through pedal having no intention of spending the kind of money that it would take to sample sounds from the pedal tones provided in the presets or the app. That being said, a purist could argue (with merit) that digital sound is not the same, but for me, that debate goes into the "who cares" category.Since I am a believer that nothing is perfect, if I have to speak of an issue, it would probably be that the display screen is tiny and making any adjustments to the digital "pedal" is best done through your ipad, iphone, or other device. The screen is just too small for me. The other thing I guess would be that proper setup (wifi and bluetooth) is a little tricky and takes about 15-20 minutes (using the selector button to type your wifi password is rough waters), but wait it out - proper setup and being able to use wifi and bluetooth is worth it! "Scuse me, ladies and gents, while I tinker with the *x?/!!* phone, download a firmware update, and then tinker some more."The work-around is: Use the WiFi AT HOME to periodically update the firmware, and use the Bluetooth AT HOME to place your favorite presets at the top of the list. Otherwise, outside the house, turn off the Bluetooth and Wifi.I ended up using only the Fender clean presets. For overdrive and distortion, connect pedals to the amp input. For reverb and such, wire these pedals into the effects loop. I can tell you right now, first time out with this amp, at a large club in Manhattan, I will be using mostly the Fender Deluxe presets, a PackRat at the front end, and a Blue Sky Reverb in the loop.DO NOT TRY TO GIG USING THE APP. Once you have the presets where you want them, turn all that *x?/!!* off.
Truth be told I purchased this amp by accident. I had just traded a Supro Delta King on a Katana 50 to avoid buying pedals to make the Supro work. Bad choice, the Supro is an excellent amp but the reverb is weak, at least to my ear, the Katana 50 has many sound choices but not my choices. The Katana is, to my ear, a very dark sounding amp that kept me from finding a good clean jazz type sound. I returned the Katana and as I was leaving the store I saw the Fender GTX 50. I am older and amp weight is important to me, I easily picked it up, it only weighs 19 pounds. After talking with the sales person, I decided to try it. Here is the problem! The amp offers many very good and different sounds that are extremely useful. It does this at a very good price point. Modeling amps can only do so much to capture the sounds of great tube amps so remember that when you buy. I found that for me this amp was much easier to use than the Katana and sounded much better also. I really like the amp. It sounds very good to me but sound is a very subjective thing. If you want a very good sounding amp (my ear) for practice or small venues, you should check this amp out. I think that it is a winner!
Purchased this amp about a year ago based on employee recommendation after being less than impressed by Blackstar and Boss modeling amps. Beyond some initial hiccups with bluetooth connection, the amp has worked without issue. It has bcome my go-to home amp for guitar and bass since my Roland JC77, Vox AC4, Gallien Krueger 400RB, and Ampeg G18 all lack headphone jacks. The range of amps available is impressive, with the Twin Reverb being a real standout. The selection of modeled stompboxes is good too, even sneaking the classic Butler Tube Driver in there. The 7 button footswitch really opens up amp utility, allowing access to the built in looper and ability to switch individual effects on/off without changing preset. I have many Bluetooth enabled items in my home, and that I interact with every day with my phone, TV, computer, vehicles, stereo, and Fender Micro Mustang and they are all awesome and require nothing but turning on the Bluetooth and plug and play.The Mustang GTS50 took me two days to finally understand the sequence and hoops I have to jump through to connect and get Bluetooth to talk between the GTX50 and either my computer or my phone.2- There is a major lag when trying to play along with Bluetooth with backing tracks from either the phone or computer, yet no lag with the Micro Mustang.3- The problem with the lag is known by Fender and hopefully this concern and the connection process will be addressed in a firmware update in the future.Note: As a work around for the Bluetooth streaming from a computer or phone and avoiding all the lag issues just connect a USB to 3.5mm cable to the AUX port on the GTX50 and have fun.Would I recommend this amplifier? Yes, even with the Bluetooth issues it is a great sounding amplifier.
