Bigger house, bigger family, time to upgrade the flashlights and portable lighting. This CL30R is an upgrade to the CL23 purchased here at Fenix-Store back in 2019. On receiving put the first top-off charge on the lantern. Been using this lantern around the house and barn, through one power outage and some Halloween activities. Area lighting on LOW-MED is sufficient around here, and TURBO is just plain blazing bright. Used the lantern for some small accent lighting on porch, and left it run on ECO all night long couple times. Color rendition was fine for outdoor grill cooking at night, because some lanterns/flashlights cast an unappealing light on food. Build quality is typical Fenix strong, which is a big draw for me. I have some Fenix lights that are over 10 years old, a couple before serial numbers were engraved, and believe this CL30R lantern will give me the same long service.

Update the cl30r to 21700 batteries and increase lumins. It is the better camp light with a softer light. The cl28r is to glaring and does not have the 360 field. Then if you want the perfect camplight implement a 180 light option switch and add the red light also.3 21700 batteries in the upgraded 30 R would make an excellent light.I'll buy a couple and give the 28R away. I have them both.Thanks.

CL30R & CL26R lanterns
3 November 2022

If your in the market looking for an electric lantern, I highly recommend the CL30R. You will not be disappointed. I've used it a few times already outside and inside (for power outages) and it's much brighter than I expected and way brighter than other electric and propane lanterns I have. It's also much smaller than the other lanterns I have which is nice. The option to charge other items from it works really well for charging my cell phone withplenty of power afterwards for light. I hope in the future Fenix upgrades it to support using their new L21 5000 mah batteries to have even longer run times. I like the light so much, I'm already planning on ordering some for gifts. Another nice benefit to both of these lights is they come with a Fenix battery and can be charged without having to remove the battery. I also have 3 other Fenix flashlighs and love them all.

Great lantern poor battery bank
25 July 2023

The lantern is pretty great. Several brightness settings with great run time at low settings. The battery bank is very limited in terms of how much power it can supply. Neither my nor my wife's cell phones would charge. My phone is a Pixel 6a and my wife's phone is an older Samsung model. Smaller devices like bluetooth headphones charge fine. If you don't care about the battery bank then it is 5 stars. If you need the battery bank to charge your modern phone, make other plans.

Little bigger than expected- but better than expected
5 January 2023

The camping lantern is a bit bigger than expected- my fault for not looking at specs closer- but is nice and bright. I love that it also pulls double duty as a charging station. That should be really handy when we are in fish camp and away from power. I haven't had the chance to use it "in action" but, around the house, it does exactly what I was hoping- it lights up the whole room. Great product!

One the best products that I own from Fenix

Really durable piece of equipment - built with the same solid feel as all of my Fenix lights. The included 2600mAh batteries are Fenix batteries and they're excellent but I replaced them with 3500mAh which bumps the runtime up significantly which I needed for week-long camping trips. Love the tripod stand on the bottom - I have 8 foot lightweight flash stands that I use for photography that lets me put this up high on the campsite and on i can evenly illuminate the entire campsite. I leave the included battery isolator in it until use just to prevent any potential parasitic drain on the batteries (my 3500's are also low self-draining type). It's size is perfect - fits in a 1.5L ditty bag/cinch sack that will protect the 360 lens well during packing and transport. ... MoreReally durable piece of equipment - built with the same solid feel as all of my Fenix lights. This will definitely come handy in a home power outage or nightime outdoor events but I believe this really shines for camping - at least car camping as it's too heavy for backpack camping where lighter solar-sourced options are better suited.

Small and bright.

Other than testing it to make sure it worked, I haven’t used it yet. I purchased this as a backup camping lantern/tent light and to have around the house for a power outage. I wanted something rechargeable that took a common battery that could be replaced. This seems well built like other Fenix products I own. It is very bright for such a compact size. There are a few small downsides, but they are small issues to me. It is pricy, but it it last for years of use, I guess it’s worth it. The lantern is a little top heavy, because the weight of the batteries sit high. It comes with three 2600mah batteries but the manual recommends 3500mah batteries to extend the runtime. I would like to see the 21700 batteries with a USB-C charger for longer runtime and faster charging. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this in the future, as many companies are going this way. Overall, I think it’s going to be a great light.

The perfect rechargeable lantern
6 December 2022

This lantern is everything I expected it to be. Like all Fenix products the quality is second to none. The different modes/lumens make this my go to lantern. The size is smaller than I thought but the output makes up for it many times over. The bonus is you can use it as a battery bank to charge your other devices if you need to. If you are on the fence about buying this lantern do yourself a favor and buy it! You will not be disappointed!

Use in an storage outbuilding
10 July 2023

I needed a 360 degree light to use in my 12x20 storage outbuilding. I wanted a light with removable cells rather than an integrated battery. Having owned several Fenix flashlights, the CL30R seemed like a good option. I also considered the other Fenix lanterns, as well as Sofirn and some cheaper options on the jungle site. The CL30R works well for what I need on the medium or high mode. Turbo is like having a 60 watt light bulb hanging in my building. I have not had a chance to use this during a power outage yet, but it will be fantastic for that when the need arises. My opinion is every homeowner should have one of these lanterns
