I wanted the smallest, more or less floody, high output light using a 21700 battery. I was looking for a "21700 version" of my E-12. I have several Fenix lights. This one is very nice, a bit big IMO for an EDC, but I can stick it in my back pocket without it falling out. I don't mind the side switch but it's just a bit "dainty." I have a hard time turning on the light in the dark (when you.. sorta... need a flashlight). Once I finally feel for the button, I'm all set. But I have squeezed too long, activating the strobe a few times. And trying to turn the light off, I have not pressed the full 1/2 second and activated the next brightness level by accident instead of turning it off. Despite the switch, it's still a nice light. I bought it with a TK-16, that has the rear "tactical" switches but I find myself liking each light equally. So... go for this if you want a well-made, compact light at a decent price.

Lots to like about this flashlight, and one thing that is totally frustrating. The good. Obviously the size and weight, I know of only one other 21700 powered light on the market that is smaller than this, so it is so easy to carry in any pocket or bag. Next, the form factor. Just a smooth, round shape without angles and fins and âtactical-nessâ makes it easy to get into and out of your pockets. The USB-C port is truly the best thing to happen to any flashlight. Not having to own a 21700 charger is great. Finally, having five lighting levels and strobe really covers all my needs. Now the bad. No direct access to turbo mode is unacceptable. Because the light has five levels, to get from any level to turbo and back requires 5 button presses, seriously inconvenient. ... MoreLots to like about this flashlight, and one thing that is totally frustrating. Fenix, two of your competitors do this, one with press and hold when light on, and one with half press when light on. I know you have some tactical lights that can do this when in tactical mode, but for the rest of us your everyday series should do the same from the side switch. I am definitely happy with this light overall, but it is not a five star product yet.

One of, if not the, most powerful EDCâs on the market at an unbelievable price-to-value ratio. Not perfect, though not intended to be a Cadillac with all the charging and capabilities bells and whistles at the price point. Was able to purchase mine at a 20% discount with a Fenix discount code for $55. Quality built as always, and reliable. Highly recommend as an EDC that is built tough. Be sure to use the quick double-tap of the switch to ensure it doesnât accidentally come on while traveling in your pocket. I upgraded from an E30R, another exceptional EDC. While the E35 V3.0 is slightly larger, it still fits comfortably in my pants pocket. You would be happy with either as an EDC, they both get the job done and are built to last. Happy to have purchased it though and looking forward to many years of service from this affordable first-class flashlight.

The E35R is a fantastic EDC light. As a Audio Visual Production Director, a tough and bright light is a must have to get the job done. I also have the PD36R as another EDC option. Both lights have taken a beating and while overtime the paint has come off, the light still works flawlessly! The only thing I would like to see improvement on is the magnetic back on the E35R. Itâs strong enough to hold its own weight but a simple bump will send it hurdling to the ground. Still, when it hits the ground you can pick it up and continue on like nothing happened. Overall, anything Fenix makes will almost always be superior.
Awesome little Flashlight, very bright with a cost the light gets so HOT on the brightest setting after about 30 seconds you can`t put it in your pocket until it cools off which takes a lot longer. Should have come with a holster that can handle the heat. I love the one button operation. I don`t have any problem with it as stated in other reviews. As far as the Tail Magnet I can take it or leave it. Magnet is very strong it holds the light Vertically or Horizontally, no problem. I know the light has heat protection circuitry; how hot does it have to get before its activated? By the time it gets activated you can`t handle the light! It`s like a HOT POTATO.
My primary reason for posting is to correct a previous post from someone else. It does not turn on at the lowest level, but rather at the level in use when turned off. ⌠Given the info about Intelligence Heat Protection, I was hoping it had better heat management than the previous model, but it does not. (Cannot get around the laws of physics) ⌠Love the wide beam and the long-running large battery. And since I fortunately rarely use high or turbo modes for more than 30 seconds (turbo is scorching after that), this still works well for me. But I find 3100 lumens, despite the awesome light, has little practical use on a light this size.
Pretty awesome being one of the first to purchase/review this light!I recently went down a rabbit hole looking for the perfect flashlight, and this one seemed to check almost every box:21700 battery (almost neverendings power)Size: Not too big, not too smallWide Flood: This will light up the path in front of you, or your entire yard (without having to aim it much)Magnetic Tail: This wasn't a deal breaker, but it is SO niceBeautiful Light: Warmish white.USB-C Rechargeable:Fenix Quality/Lifetime Guarantee:
I'm a retired Tactical Officer and still do range training for officers and civilians using a variety of equipment. I've purchased a couple Fenix lights as they seem very durable and extremely bright. This little E series light was a nice option as a pocket sized light with a very high output.Unfortunately, after a short period of time, I've had numerous problems with this one, to include a very short battery life, even on the lower settings. After a few months of ownership, I accidentally dropped the light on the ground (the only time it's been dropped) and since then I've had nothing but function problems, working intermittently, dropping it's charge, etc.Additionally, the power switch is extremely difficult to find in low light because it's flush with the body ... MoreI'm a retired Tactical Officer and still do range training for officers and civilians using a variety of equipment. With gloves, it's practically impossible. Definitely not very intuitive.I would recommend avoiding this light and opting for something a little more durable and a more functional design. I would not recommend this light at this price point to anyone, first responders or civilians. The quality is sub-standard compared to my other Fenix lights.
Iâve used the E35 for around 8 months now and love it, itâs a powerful little light, lasts a decent while, and is pretty rugged. My wife just ordered one a week ago to take the dog out with, since she was always stealing mine. I unboxed it today, and it seemed much the same, except when I was testing it out I noticed that the intelligent memory function seemed to not be working, so I looked through the manual, and wouldnât you know, apparently as of September â22 they removed the intelligent memory for some reason, meaning you need to push the button up to a half dozen times to get back up to the turbo setting after you shut the light off. Iâm really not a fan of needing to cycle back up from eco mode every time the light gets turned on. For her use she says itâs fine, but Iâm still on the fence about just returning the light and finding her another one with the intelligent memory. If you go to turn a light back on, it should be ON, you shouldnât have to fumble with the button multiple times to get it back up to a usable brightness. When I bought this light in March is was an easy 5 star, now with this one small change I hardly wanted to give it 3.
This is the EDC flashlight you want! The battery lasts all night yet it still fits in my pocket. I have a number of Fenix flashlights as well as dozens of other brand EDC lights. The only thing Fenix should change is the side switch - make it harder to press. I usually carry the E18R when I wear shorts in the summer then switch to this E35R the rest of the year. The E28R doesn't have a magnetic tail so it is backup.Pros -Very slim and compact for the large battery sizeBeam pattern has a nice blend of spill/flood for any situationMagnetic tail for sticking to thingsInsane battery life for an EDCCons-Side switch is easily triggered on in pocket, regardless of "lockout" mode being enabled. I found if you adjust the clip position that helps to minimize it.
