A great start for Switch

I believe it is still unclear whose fault this is (Nintendo or EA) as there are Switch games that do have this feature. I'm way past any fanboy-esque arguing so we'll just wait and see if its added in at any point, as I hear it was patched into a couple of other non-Nintendo games. So you never know. (Don't take my word, Google is your friend.)Ultimately, this is a solid Football title that you can take on the go. Two players can play straight out of the box and more than one Switch can be linked for local play. The possibility of whipping this out down the pub and having a tournament is exciting, too.

A literal hybrid of last-gen and current-gen FIFA

It isn't anywhere close to being the same experience as you'll find on other consoles or PC, but it's a respectable effort for the Switch, a literal hybrid of last-gen and current-gen. Here's hoping EA continues to build on this foundation instead of releasing a glorified roster update every year like on the Vita and Wii U.

A portable FIFA could have been amazing. Compromising on visuals for 60 FPS was a good choice. This game runs smoothly. Unfortunately EA chose to shortchange Nintendo owners yet again. Not including The Journey mode and other things available to Xbox and PS4 has nothing to do with the Switch’s ability to handle those features. It was simply a choice to not put the resources into bringing those experiences to Switch owners. Also, not building in the ability to play with friends over the internet is a terrible oversight. To be clear, Nintendo is partially to blame for not having a fully developed online experience ready, but EA should have built this in Leto the game—no excuse for this. Sadly, it doesn’t even include all the features FIFA 17 included on the other systems. Hopefully EA remedies some of the missing features and finally decides to treat Nintendo fans fairly in future releases.

I have all the FIFA games including the gameboy advance one (Yes i'm a FIFER(FIFA fan) we exist. hi.) before the switch was released i had to stick to my game boy advance to able to play Fifa on the go and when pokemon go was released i prayed that nintendo would finally receive the rights to the exquisite FIFA franchise. they did not. but the switch was released and i was so hopeful. i prayed even harder and my dreams have now become reality (There are many that cannot say the same as I have. Great FIFA game for the switch

The last time I played FIFA was back on the PS2 and that was forever ago. Since then I have been a big PC gamer and have since gotten which is my first console in nearly a decade. I can say that I mainly picked this up for nostalgia but I do not regret the game at all. As some reviews online say that it is missing some features I'm not too concerned about it as I am able to do a quick game or focus on a career for a made character and I can say this is pretty much all i did on my last FIFA game.I do wish that there was a way to challenge people on your friends list that also have the game but it's that big of a deal for me as I am the only one of my friends to get the game.Controls feel good and fluid. First things first: This is a FIFA 18 title for the Switch. That means that certain expectations need to be a bit lower when compared to the other more powerful platforms. So I will focus on the selling point and its reason to be; mobile gaming. While graphically inferior and missing modes such as The Journey, it more than scratches that itch while on the go. The graphics look very good on the small screen. The player models don't look as small as I thought they'd be. Gameplay is the same as always and presentation is not as dramatic as the other versions. Again, this all is justified with it being portable. The graphics take a hit when playing on the TV (I have a 4K) so I rather just play undocked. Great for basic modes, not so much for others
20 November 2017

I've played FIFA for past decade but I've only been playing regular "kick off" mode and "online seasons" modes. I'm not a fan of all the other modes where you manage teams/players as it requires too much time. I love playing local multiplayer with friends and this game provides a proper FIFA experience on a Nintendo console in a long time! Online is decent too with not much lag but matchmaking sucks because not many people play online. I love the tabletop mode that the Switch provides. I've popped it out and played with friends who never heard of the Switch and we were all playing like we would on PS4/XB1. The screen is a little small on the Switch so 2 players works fine but 4 players requires squeezing together. It's already cheaper than that now due to BF sales and would pick it up at this price if you want to play regular FIFA with friends and don't have any other console. I'm giving it 4 stars because that's exactly what I wanted but I would give it 2-3 stars if I cared for the other modes.

Fifa 18 game has loads of bugs that arnt getting sorted out! Could be good if they do. My FUT squad has a rating of 81 (4.5 stars) and a chemistry of 92 but yet for me to start the next single player season in FUT on mid-high difficulty rating season I need a rating of 70-75 (3.5 stars)?? WTF... Its not letting progress unless I forfeit this season and go for a lower rating season! I also finished a game on Squad Battles and got no "Winning Match Results Opts, Skill Bonus Opts, no Goals Opts, no Difficulty Bonus Opts"? But yet I won the game by 5 goals, loads of skill on a medium to high world class difficulty. (Just take a look at my two pictures i've put with this) Also playing the Alex Hunter the journey, its not putting on traits i've gained and put in? They seem to be their the next time I play a game and do my stuff afterwards. Great concept though love it. Playing Career mode, you can't even change and choose a different formation for your team. I'm playing as a player and not the manager so I'm not sure if you are able to build your own team if you play as manager so I can't comment on that, I hope you can. I haven't bought any footy games for many years since Pro Evo 5, and since fifa 2006 they changed the games game engine making the game play weird ever since. Its only this version seems a little different. Thats why I bought it after playing the demo on pc. Also its really annoying me that in FUT I'll play first half and all my team is in good form. The other team is not too differ to mine, then as soon as the second half starts my team are all slow even though all of my teams fitness levels are all still above 60-65% and the opponents seem faster and much better than the first half, so sometimes im getting beat because of this!!!

One glaring omission you've probably already heard is you can't play with friends online because EA didn't include an option for that so make sure to note that before picking up this game.
