A great follow-up to the PS FFT

A wonderful story about being stuck in a fantasy book ties together the battles in this strategy game. With a very streamlined playing system and an expanded class system where you can combine skills from multiple classes, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is one of the games I return to over and over. However, if you're an action fan, I would recommend staying away from this as it will put you to sleep! While there is a excellent system for saving during a battle, the problem is you can get stuck engaging in a battle you can't win! My second biggest complaint is that it is prone to huge cut scenes, like the opening which takes almost 20 minutes to get through to get to your first save point! My biggest love of the game is that there are really cute characters and four races that can be played. Fights can be against other groups of characters or against monsters. There are tons of items and even hidden items throughout the game and I find it entertaining that they use a world-building system that allows you a slightly different game each time!

A trip back into nostalgia...

This is truly an amazing game. For those who have never played tactical RPGs like this and are more used to Zelda games, this isnt for you. Unless you have an open mind to this game youll definitely need time to get used to it. Glad I found this at a bargain price. This a rather challenging game in terms 100%ing it. There are twists and turns you have to make to complete all missions. Ive beaten it before but never completed it. This isnt an action-adventure game, though different in playing style compared to other FF games, its fun. An often missed masterpiece for the Gameboy Advance! Buy a copy and play it

I bought this product because it was a game I was only able to borrow once off a friend when I was a kid. Being a Final Fantasy game, it is an RPG and of course you need longer than a week to really stick your teeth into it. It's a turn-based tactics game, similar to fire emblem and the tactics ogre series. But this game sets itself apart from not just the Final Fantasy franchise, but even the other tactics games in the series! Final Fantasy Tactics.. Very very fun and colorful

Final Fantasy Tactics for the gameboy, I really like this game. I bought it because it looked a lot like Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis for the Gameboy advance, another game that I really like to play and a game that can take hours and hours from your life. I read some reviews for Final Fantasy Tactics that it wasn't as good as the one for Playstation and that it was too Kiddie and just a spin off, things like that. I think this game is very fun and really has good graphics for a Gameboy advance game. I have played a lot of Nintendo DS games and haven't played one yet that is as fun or addicting as Final Fantasy Tactics for the advance. Final Fantasy meets Neverending Story

This game is superb! Sublime if you love tactical RPG and just bliss if you love movies like The Neverending Story. Play it for its amazing battles, breath taking music and 16 bit pixel art that stands the test of time. Buy it and never sell it so our copies go up in value, lol. I kid. The repro market is ruining our hobby...

Final Fantasy tactics

The cartridge is in great condition and there have been no issues with the game. In regard to the game itself, I’ve been enjoying a lot. The graphics are colorful and you control your characters’ actions on a grid to battle. Great for hours of play, and a really nice soundtrack too.

Fun Game To Grow On

My own copy of this game arrived with a bit of gunk stuck in the cartridge which had to be cleaned out before I could play it. But that's an issue with my seller, not the actual game. To begin with, the game seemed quite slow and full of uninteractive conversations in the traditional style of JRPG games. It was at times a bit tiresome, but the dialogue was witty at moments and aside from the contrived attempt to blend explanation of controls into the characters' conversations smoothly it was actually fairly interesting. A lot to have to skip through if you've already seen the introduction, though. The fact that the character develops the skills associated with equipped items even if he didn't use them that time seems to beg a question or two, but since some skills can't be used by simply commanding the character to do so (and others are occasionally outlawed and will make your character get sent to prison if he does use them) it works fairly well. My main complaints about the gameplay are the details they left out that could have made it better, so obviously that I found myself annoyed they weren't there. For example, while any given weapon or piece of equipment shows which classes or races can learn special skills by equipping it on detailed view of the item, they do NOT state which OTHER classes can use it, which means that if you want to buy a helmet or a pair of boots to equip to your character just for good defense, you have to buy it and go to the character's inventory before finding out that that class can't use that item. A similar problem occurs with melee classes' weapons. Some weapons are two-handed, so you can't equip a shield with them, and they will simply be unequippable on the menu unless you unequip your shield first. Why can't this be automatic? Again, the detailed screen does not mention whether they are two-handed, so if a particular weapon is unequippable, the player has no way of knowing except by trial and error whether it's because the class can't use that sword, or because it takes two hands. Or, for that matter, because it's already being held by someone else (though that is stated in a # used/# owned stat beside the item which is easy to overlook). The basic jist of tactics in the game is to attack the enemy from behind or from the side - which makes sense, but it is frequently hard to both do that successfully and prevent them from stepping around you and doing exactly the same thing. Status afflictions can be used, mostly by archers for some reason, and can be exceedingly useful to exceedingly broken, if they hit. I swiftly found that Blinding my enemies pretty much assured they were useless for the rest of the battle unless the enemy had a status healing move. The chances of hitting an enemy don't seem to improve by leveling up, and many of the missions consist of sending someone away for a short time and having them return to declare it a success. Sad. I would prefer to play them out. It's not a bad game, and I found myself really getting into it after a while, but many details are unintuitive or just missing. I prefer Fire Emblem, as it's much more intuitive to control, has a well-developed personality for every character you can use in battle, and a story which always gives you a reason to be fighting.

Oft-forgotten classic strategy title reinvents Final Fantasy Tactics, but has its own grind to contend with.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the Gameboy Advance isn't merely a sequel to Playstation's Final Fantasy Tactics, but a complete revamp of the earlier game's mechanics. Where, in FFT, it was easy to assemble a group of characters that could steamroll the later game, in FFTA, each new fight brings its own rules requiring new strategies and character pairings. Once the main plot ends, though, there is a long, long grind to the true ending that connects this game to its sequel, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2, developed for the Nintendo DS.

Poor quality

I wish my experience was like the others in the reviews but my cartridge I received was in very poor condition. I don’t expect the games to look brand new but this one had deep scratches all over and the label was peeling at the top by what looks to be a brown substance. On top of that the game only loaded after I inserted and reinserted the cartridge several times. Very disappointed.
