When my son asked for this game for his 25th birthday I must admit I was surprised that the game was still playing out. I can remember him begging for his first game and I worried about the graphics. Now I have to worry tht my Grandchildren will be playing it more than me. And Mighty Ape yet again came to the party with a very quick sale and delivery.Mighty Ape is tyhe first place I go to buy my birthday and Christmas presents because I know I wont be let down. Cheers Guys

(I've only played the Japanese version) so, heres a game for all long time RPG and new RPG players to get their hands on. (Graphics) the graphics on this game are stunning and beautiful, a few times it looked as if Square Enix actually done it on a live set. (Gameplay(ish)), even though I have only played the Japanese version I found it fairly easy to get into the 'swing' of the game, but once you buy the English version i'm 100% sure you'll be able to master this game. There is plenty to do in FFXIII whether your just going through the story or trying to explore the game. But This is Definitely the game to buy. (well theres my first proper review for you. hope it helps your choice.)

This has to be my favourite Final Fantasy game I have yet to own. The graphics are simply amazing. I like all the characters, not just some of them, and it has a unique storyline. Yeah the beginning is a bit boring doing the same thing but it gets so much better. The soundtrack included is a sweet taster of what the full soundtrack has. A beautiful original score and you get this sample at a fraction of the price of the full 5 disc soundtrack which is about $70 US most places I have seen. The hard-cover photo book is neat. I got two decals with my one. So I guess that is a bonus and the Art cards are a nice addition. Its worth buying the collectors edition for all the goodies you get.

It's a beautiful game, SE did an impressive job on capturing fine facial movements and each area has its own distinct feel (although some parts are a reminiscent of FF12 but in HD).A big change in this game is that there are no towns! But fear not, there are still some areas full of people although there is less interaction compared with other FF games. While some may find the beginning slow and linear (maps are also linear, not much exploring but saves time going through repetitive maps like 12) it will eventually grow and become more complex as the story progresses and at a certain point in the game, massive areas will be available to explore and get lost in (and missions!).The battle system is fun, different, and very challenging at times. It'll probably take a while to get used to. You can only control one character at any time and cannot switch during battle. Members of the party are given "roles" and the actions they take correspond to that. If you have played Dissidia, there is also a break bar like that for each enemy. An interesting change to battles is that you cannot run away once you start but if you fail there will be a chance to retry where you can choose to run away / try again or return to the title screen.Characters are a bit cliché but nevertheless likable. Here's your chance to play as a cool female main character in FF!Story: ~8/10Characters: 8/10 (lol snow/hope)Gameplay: 9/10 (better than 12! Wooo!)Graphics: 9.5/10Soundtrack: 9.5/10 (addictive as always)Eng VA: ?/10 (JP: 9001/10)
Leading up to the release I kept up to date with the news on Final fantasy XIII, so many critics said it was linear and gave the game bad scores. Now that I have played it, I see that they were wrong to mark it so low.Sure, the start is not an overwhelming scale that you can roam around in like fallout 3 or Dragon age origins, BUT THIS IS NOT A BAD THING!!! It makes it fast paced and able for you to grasp the marvelous storyline and the many game mechanics. I don't think that the things that are ''missing'' from other final fantasy's is a bad thing either. There is alot of things they have kept that are the better parts of previous titles of the series. This is a well put together game and the way it presents itself and progesses through the storyline is ... MoreLeading up to the release I kept up to date with the news on Final fantasy XIII, so many critics said it was linear and gave the game bad scores. There is alot of things they have kept that are the better parts of previous titles of the series. This is a well put together game and the way it presents itself and progesses through the storyline is absolutely engaging and fun, it doesn't get dull and boring like most RPG's, you always have something new around every corner.I would reccomend you play this before judging it and don't listen to the critics!! unless you have already completed it.
Absolutely incredible! I must admit at first I had some doubt whether I would really enjoy this game because I've played FFVII and FFVIII on PSOne but I never completed them. At some point they just got really hard for me and I lost interest. Well this is not the case here. I started the game a few days ago and it is one of the most immersive experiences ever. It made me want to go back and replay the previous titles I mentioned above, this is just another prove how good this franchise actually is. A must buy for every PS3 owner!
In Final Fantasy XIII, players take control of six different characters with the sharp-eyed Lightning taking the "lead role." Although the game does tend to stress Lightning as the primary heroine, Final Fantasy XIII is reminiscent of Final Fantasy VI in that you control all the characters at different times and you jump between the groups frequently. This multi-story approach, as well as a clever use of flashbacks, makes Final Fantasy XIII's story quite enjoyable, at least in terms of its structure. However, what brings this game's enjoyability down is that fact that it hardly feels like a Final Fantasy game because it is linear. There is no exploring towns and no travelling around a massive world map.Fun overall but still not up to par
This game is so much more than I originally anticipated. Square Enix have always made the Final Fantasy series a chain of amazing graphics, great storylines and so forth, this game does that and more! The new combat system is alot easier to use and the reward system on the game is brilliant! For anybody who has ever liked any Final Fantasy game of the past then this is definitely the game for you - when you get further into the storyline and see the ending you are bound to agree!
FFXIII is not only special for its high-quality graphics, its spectacular film-like scenes or its ambience-creating soundtrack, but for its captivating storyline and its amazing characters. Different but complementary, FFXIII main characters made this Final Fantasy game more special than ever before. Furthermore, thanks to the very distinct personality and particular goal of each of them, together with the possibility of choosing both the leading character and those joining him/her during your battles, you will find it very easy to chose the one you identify yourself the most with and so further enjoy the game and the story. This game was everything you didn't want and more. The characters were all digital copies of old Final Fantasy heroes. Not just similarities but exactly the same. Snow has the EXACT same problem and goal as Locke from Final Fantasy VI. This was nothing new at all. They did not use the full power of the PS3 or X-Box 360; they could give us back the old world map mode which made the game extremely expansive. But no instead we get "go from point A to point B" then you are at the end. This game is easier than tying shoe laces and offered no challenge what so ever, I would be surprised if you don't have a platinum trophy in the first 2 weeks of owning the game. This was a disgrace to gaming; let's hope Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII are better. ... MoreThis game was everything you didn't want and more. Also Square-Enix needs to remember that we play Final Fantasy to play Final Fantasy not every other J-RPG, so please bring back the original music. In summary don't play this game, unless this is going to be your first Final Fantasy in which case I feel sorry that you have not played Final Fantasy when it was actually bearable.
