I’m so frustrated and disappointed. Bought these instead of the usual Quantam packs, now all of the dishes reek of their “fragrance”. I’ve run the dishwasher a second time with no soap in the hopes that the added rinse would remove, or at least dissipate the scent. No such luck. I have been using what is now called Finish Classic for many years with no complaints. I recently bought the Finish Power as I could not find the Classic and assumed it would work great and not make me sick. What a disappointment. The chemical stench in my dishwasher and on my dishes, glasses, utensils etc; is more than anyone in our home can stand. I literally was sickened from the odor. Plastic items retain the odor. We threw it all away. We were able to order the Classic but I am pretty convinced it is being discontinued, as it's difficult to find and there is some price gouging, pricing that is is drastically reduced, and the website offers no "available at" places to buy except for one size. I read this product is great for cleaning microwaves and stoves--dissolved in some water. It works great. Well, I've had a sluggish drain in my kitchen sink for years. I've tried all of the drain cleaners; they were not effective. I dissolved one of these in a cup of hot water, poured it into drain and let it sit overnight. Seemed to help so I repeated this a second night. Success!!! For the first time since I bought this house, my kitchen drain flows smoothly. WOW! I had even removed pipes under sink. Seems the blockage was in the wall pipe. Well this fixed it. No plumber fee.

This product is more recent to market and is the gel covered packs, not the original classic packs, and yet they have the SAME EXACT rating, number of reviews, and if you take the time to read them, the SAME reviews.Personally I don't want the gel packs in my dishwasher as I find they generally leave residue (yes proper temp and water hardness) and are putting things in the water supply I would rather not have there.Additionally, I find they stick together when left in more humid conditions and can prematurely dissolve.I was very disappointed to see that my grocery store only carries these in gel packs anymore. I bought the 84 count container. It was sealed at the top when I took the lid off. I broke the seal. The container appeared to be only half full, so I counted the tablets. I counted only 81, so I counted a second time to be sure I had counted right. 81 again. Besides finding only 81 tabs in the 84 count container, I prefer the previous product. The previous product didn't leave a residue on my fingers. This product leaves a residue on my fingers that I have to wash off after every time I handle one. Once I run the dishwasher, the product seems to be fine. No problems there.
I've been using Finish Classic and have been satisfied with the product. While it has a mildly soapy fragrance, that does not linger after the dishwasher has run. My store was out of them, and I purchased Finish Powerball Power instead. The heavy perfume scent was overwhelming when I opened the package. With a houseful of holiday guests, I had to run the full dishwasher, using the product. The odor persisted after the wash cycle. My dishes and utensils retained the odor! I have a Bosch dishwasher that is well maintained and functions very well - no contributing factors there. I do not understand at all why an automatic dishwasher product needs to be perfumed! The package does not indicate that the product is heavily scented. I gave the opened package away.
I have been a happy user of the “classic” tablets for many years. Now they are very hard to buy. I bough these instead, and I’ve been appalled by the heavy scent that’s been added. Even when I open the container, there’s a waft of weird, chemical smelling. “Citrus.”I decided to use tongs to avoid skin irritation and thought it would be ok. Now that I’ve used them, I find that I have to use an extra rinse cycle to get the horrible odor out of my dishes, particularly plastic storage containers and cutting boards.
I have been using the rectangle powerball with the red circle for a while. I would go out of my way to bring some home. It was perfect because all the others would either not dissolve of they would make our Tupperware lids taste like soap. The new powerball liquid tabs are just like the others now. My silicone and plastic lids all taste like soap. All of our leftovers taste like soap. Hundreds of dollars literally down the drain. Please don’t reply with you telling me my water temperature is too high. Same dishes, same dishwasher, same water but different tab.
What have you done to my favorite dishwasher pods?!? I’ve used these faithfully for 8 years and now I can’t stand the smell. It clings to everything: plastic, glass, porcelain, and metal and everything smells and tastes “like perfume”. Opening my cabinets makes me feel like I’m in a flower shop and is ruining the cooking experience. My family won’t drink water from glasses anymore because it “tastes like perfume”. I can’t get rid of it. Please reduce the current scent or bring back the original fragrance.
I have used the original Finish power tablets, individually wrapped in the foil wrap for 11 years. Apparently they are no longer manufactured. This new version in the dissolvable plastic is garbage. Sometimes they dissolve, sometimes they don't. It is NOT my dishwasher, I keep the filters clean, the water temperature is where it should be. This is a product failure issue. It seems that all the brands have moved to plastic encased soap tablets, so I will be switching to old school powder. I will not be contributing to the micro plastic debris in our water system if I can help it.
