I have five children, and let me tell you, I have taken many, many pregnancy tests. First response is a pretty good brand, and they use pink dye, which is a bonus. One negative, however, is that the newer tests seem to be leaving a very faint indent line that could very easily be confused for a faint positive on the test. Another thing is, you can find pregnancy tests at the dollar store that are one dollar a piece and work just as well as these tests. Personally, I go to the cheaper route and stock up because I know that I might need more than two tests at a time.

The simplest and most sensitive pregnancy test. I took the test that same morning, in the afternoon I had a blood test for HCG and the blood test showed an HCG level of 16. It's crazy that this test can show such a low result, most others can't, and I took more that same day two brands that tested negative. The only downside is that it can also detect chemical pregnancies, but I would take the risk for the sake of accuracy. I wouldn't waste my money on any other brand!

I bought the "new" test that have 3 early first response tests and then 5 of the new test strips. I got one left to take I'm waiting till my official mp which will be Tuesday. I got a faint line on another brand of test which I wasn't sure about so I decided to go get a trusted test which I thought was first response. Well now I'm currently 10dpo and all these test have faint lines which in my understanding of the HCG hormone it should triple every 72 hours well all my tests have been light light pink which a few of the frer tests all seem to have a sort of evap or faint line. Not super pink but it's clearly there. All those lines showed up within the time windows described in the directions. My confusion is this, how can a whole box have defective tests? Not super pink but it's clearly there. All those lines showed up within the time windows described in the directions. My confusion is this, how can a whole box have defective tests? Like I have had one or two in my day where I've seen an evap line but never were prominent and looked like these ones do. I've never had this issue with faint lines and it not being clear stark white which negative or positive when positive. I just don't understand why so many test in one box would be defective or have so many issues. I will hold off on testing the last test till Tuesday. When my period is due. But honestly by now it should be darker if it's not a defective test strips. I can see color so it's not an evap i don't think. But also I think evaps appear after said test is out of the window of reading it. Which these all were within the window to read them all showed up within 1 to 5 mins bc the test strips say to read them after 5 mins and the frer say to read after 3 mins. As well as the non first response test says to read it after 3 mins. I'm quite disappointed in the quality of these test strips. For being first response tests I feel they should be better quality. Hopefully I get a more clear idea of what is going on come Tuesday. Thank you for listening.

False Positives!!!
3 June 2023

I have bought more than 10 boxes of these over the last couple months and every single test comes back faint pink positive line. I then have had my HCG levels tested SAME DAY and those have all came back 0. These are expensive and after reading many many reviews stating they have also gotten multiple false positives, I will never buy from First Response again. They need to take these off the shelves and refund people their money.

After 3 miscarriges I was extaric to get what i thought was a faint poisitve. This broke my heart into pieces. For my husband to look at me with tears in his eyes and hug me. I immediately went to confirm with a first response digital it was blinking before i urinated on it upon removing the cap. I immediately threw it away in the store bathroom and grabbed a 3 way test for clear blue. I grabbed the digital from the clear blue and waited for the result i even brought my best friend in the bathroom lf a crowded walmart too. As i was holding the faint positive from the first response saying how greatful i am. The clear blue said not pregnant. I was heart broken. False positives
1 January 2023

I received a clearly faint positive result on 5 early result tests within the time frame, followed by a negative test. Took another brand and a digital test only to find out I am not pregnant. Reading the reviews I see this is an overarching issue and the fact that first response hasn’t pulled these tests is disgraceful. I spent so much money on tests and was so hopeful only to be completely crushed.

Indent lines
16 July 2022

I don’t know how there is not a class action lawsuit happing right now with how many end up having indent lines. Most people that buy these test are ones ttc most for years waiting to see a positive. I recently bought a 2 pack it cost $20 (that cost can add up pretty quick). I will admit I was rather impatient when I got home and did one of the test. It was 7pm I hadn’t used the restroom for like 7 hours (thanks to work life lol) so decided to try. Sent the picture attached to a bff to see if she saw what I saw. I am not sure if the line I have is a indent or a actual positive after reading all the comments between here and on fertility pages. In my case it doesn’t match up with the lines on the back. According to this page this isn’t a new thing it’s been going on ... MoreI don’t know how there is not a class action lawsuit happing right now with how many end up having indent lines. Once again this is very disheartening for ones like myself who are ttc we are already emotionally exhausted each cycle and then get a false hope it is crushing.

UNRELIABLE!!!!
28 August 2021

Just bought this a few days ago, to test 3 days before my expected period. Took the test and got a faint positive. Waited a day and took the second test, got another faint positive. On the 3rd day I had a blood test scheduled, came out negative. For the community of ladies ttc, this test is the BIGGEST disappointment!!! Take this off the shelves! Reading through reviews on ALL sites, for the past couple months, EVERYBODY has been having the same issue. Seems like unless you get 2 extremely dark lines, then you’re definitely not pregnant. So for the few of us looking for any little sign and hope to confirm, definitely don’t rely on First Response to reassure you. This test is straight trash and I will definitely get genetic brands or Clear Blue before ever purchasing ... MoreJust bought this a few days ago, to test 3 days before my expected period. Very disappointed in a product I used depend on
5 August 2020

I have taken numerous tests over the last month and all were false positives. My fertility doctor saw my test result and thought it was positive as well and ordered an HCG level, which was 3 (negative). He was even stumped because I had about 12 tests with me he seen and one I did in the office. Sure enough, a faint pink line appeared within 30 seconds and he ordered an HCG level, put me on Progesterone, and another med because he was even convinced it was a positive test. He wanted to start an intervention immediately due to my history of recurrent miscarriage. I am very upset because I have spent so much financially and am emotionally drained, I depended on an accurate test. I have only used these tests over the years and have come to rely on the as a gold standard. I am a nurse and it is very concerning to me there is such a low-level accuracy for these tests right now. I don't want to recommend them to my patients and give them false hope. In the past, they were always very accurate and clear to interpret results. What is going on?
