Fisher & Paykel DD60DI9 Integrated Double DishDrawer Dishwasher

Exclusive to Fisher & Paykel, the DishDrawer is a useful addition to any kitchen thanks to its economic washing of small loads and its ergonomic design. This Double DishDrawer is designed to be integrated into your cabinetry for a seamless kitchen aesthetic. This DishDrawer’s 14 place settings are split evenly across two compartments. Each drawer can run a separate program, and you can achieve a true half-load with none of the guilt about wasting resources. Fill the baskets with minimal bending, and take advantage of flexible racking to organise plates, glassware, and cutlery according to your needs. No two loads are the same, which is where the choice of 15 wash programs comes in handy. Use Quick Wash for a faster cycle that doesn’t sacrifice on performance. Sanitise mode will kill 99.9% of bacteria in the final rinse, while Extra Dry is great for plastic items that often have moisture clinging to their surfaces. A nifty feature is the knock-to-pause function, whereby knocking on the front panel halts the cycle and allows you to add a forgotten dish. Offering high water efficiency, flexible basket configurations, and a user-friendly design, this Double DishDrawer is ideal for the large family kitchen.

For the price we are disappointed. The build quality is not what it should be (and the bottom drawer is misaligned - not bad enough to warrant a return). I have some concerns over how long it will last. The eco setting takes ages approx 3 to 4 hours. It doesn't dry dishes (even with dry option selected). The drawer stacking looked very well thought through at first, and given we have a household with children coming and going it looked ideal, but in reality we find it very impractical and difficult to load - always seem to have to restack; but with care, rearrangement and patience you can get a lot in. Nothing compared to my old Fisher & Paykel so I purchased a brand new one and I am not sorry at all. It was pricey, but it is worth it. I use both top and bottom drawers. It is easy on the back so I use the top one more often, When the Grandkids come, they load the bottom for me. It is silent. You can't hear the motor at all. You will not be sorry when you purchase this fine piece of machinery.

Seriously, you’ll like this dish washer. It’s sleek, unique, functional, and exudes quality. The price was a bit concerning at first: I regret nothing and may go so far as to name the dish washer … This Fisher & Paykel unit replaced an entry-level Whirlpool model that came with my new construction. I was somewhat skeptical purchasing the F&P unit sight unseen but wow am I not only satisfied but I am impressed. The build quality of this unit is top-notch: the stainless steel of the handles feels like a legitimate chunk of metal, not like the cheap sheet metal that’s over most of my appliances like my fridge. The controls are highly intuitive and feel top quality as well. I’ve done about 10 different loads in both drawers; it took a few loads to determine the appropriate amount of detergent and drying additive to use per load on the “fast” cycle, but after I figured this out (it’s a function of how hard one’s water is), the dishes came out 95% dry with absolutely no spotting / residue. For customers who have challenges with getting their dishes clean and dry with this unit, I’d suggest they read the manual for specific instructions on how to load the dish washer based on the spray patterns of the rotating wash head. Basically, if you really liked high school geometry, you’ll REALLY LOVE LOADING THIS DISH WASHER :) The benefit of this unit boils down to having two discrete dish washers built into one: while I don’t yet have a good system for allocating certain dishes to certain drawers, I can say that I’ve been sticking my coffee mugs / drinking glasses in the bottom unit while I place larger items like full-size dinner plates and chargers in the top unit.

Hasn’t worked since I purchased it
16 November 2022

I had to wait weeks for this to be delivered. When it arrived I was so excited since it is very attractive, but upon installation (after 1 cycle) the code FC-1 started showing up. We turned off power and eventually got the control panel to work again, but after another cycle the code started showing up again, and then there was no response from the control panel. The plumber who installed it came back out and spent over an hour trying to figure it out and finally asked me to call warranty. Warranty service was incredibly fast and the tech has been super nice, but there are apparently no parts available for this problem so now I wait and hope they can fix it. Going on 3 months that my brand new dishwasher won’t work….

I would definitely buy this model again.
29 October 2021

I purchased this to replace a 19 year old Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher. I love it. There are some differences between the models since one was much newer. This one is so quiet, the only time I hear it is when it is draining and even that is quieter than the old model. I love the 2 different size drawers enabling me to wash items that are a bit taller. I also like the option to fold down the tines /racks. This is perfect for a 2 person household, we use mostly cups, plates, glasses and flatware. It is handy to run only one drawer but you can run them both at the same time if necessary. Yes it is expensive but fits my needs perfectly. The cover that goes on the flatware basket isn't a feature I can use as my handles are wider than the openings in the cover. The fold down racks aren't as user friendly as the old ones. The color I received was black stainless instead of the regular stainless color. I mentioned to the delivery man that it was darker than my old one. He checked and said it was the correct one, he did say that we should go ahead and install it and call if it was a problem. It did have 2 different model #'s on the packaging. but it's definitely black stainless. It was a difficult install so I didn't bother calling to have it changed out. I was happy to get it ordered and arrived without any change from the original estimated delivery date and was estimated several months earlier than another retailer estimated.

Nice dishwasher but pricey

I ultimately ended up choosing this Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher out of necessity more than anything else. The house we moved into had custom cabinetry and our existing dishwasher was a Kitchen Aid double drawer dishwasher. These double drawer dishwashers typically run a little smaller than the standard size dishwashers, so I was pretty limited in my dishwasher selection based on the smaller than standard cutout size available. There were other options available- some not available for a number of months due to supply chain issues while there were others we just liked less. Now that I've provided some context for my selection, let me touch on a few pros and cons of this dishwasher: Pros: - Beautiful, sleek dishwasher- I love how the dishwasher is flush ... MoreI ultimately ended up choosing this Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher out of necessity more than anything else. There were other options available- some not available for a number of months due to supply chain issues while there were others we just liked less. Now that I've provided some context for my selection, let me touch on a few pros and cons of this dishwasher: Pros: - Beautiful, sleek dishwasher- I love how the dishwasher is flush with my cabinetry and doesn't extend out at all. The stainless steel gives it a nice modern feel and gives an overall very clean looking presentation. - Double drawers- Since we have a small family, the double drawer function works great for us. The smaller load allows us to easily run smaller loads as we desire without having to feel bad about not filling out the dishwasher completely. - Quiet- the wash cycles for the dishwasher are relatively quiet and does not end up being much of a distraction - Dishes and glasses come out very clean. The water in our city is very hard, so using rinse aid is a must. With that said, things can still come out differently based on the dishwasher and we noticed a considerably positive difference between the lack of hard water spots and stains now compared to our previous dishwasher. Cons: - Expensive. The price tag here is hard to get behind. It totally makes sense that a double drawer dishwasher would be more expensive as there are double the parts in some case, but based on my research, there are plenty of options available at half the price that seem like they would work just as well and may even have better options. -Technology- Very standard features here. As noted above, I think there are plenty of cheaper dishwashers available that have more options and features. - More likely to have problems- With two drawers in the dishwashers instead of one, you have certain things that you need double of compared to a normal dishwasher. The more parts required, the higher the chance of something breaking or not functioning properly. Nothing in particular to note that might be breaking, but I think it's a thought worth keeping in mind when determining your choice of dishwasher. - Noisy. While the wash cycle is relatively quiet and not a distraction at all, the drainage and drying process is on the louder side. Granted, I'd rather have this part of the process loud than the wash process, but still worth noting that it is rather loud when the drawer is draining the water. All in all, I gave this dishwasher a 4 star rating as we have been happy with the dishwasher overall, but still aren't convinced the price justifies the sleek design or double drawers. The cost to install and remove a dishwasher adds up quick at Best Buy, so I would highly suggest looking into purchasing a TotalTech membership as the price is pretty similar and you get more warranty, return, and support benefits. One final thing to note, when ordering this dishwasher online, the "Smart Choice - Universal 6' Deluxe Dishwasher Install Kit - Multi" was an essential add on. I believe everything from this kit that you would need for the installation is already provided with the dishwasher as my installation technician did not touch it at all, so it's worth checking to see if you can just get away with not ordering it at all or you can just return the kit back to Best Buy afterwards like I did.

Thin steel - dents easy - loud
22 March 2022

I'll start by saying this is our 4th dish drawer. I used to have a single on each side of my sink. I loved the singles. As things failed we would replace or repair with parts from saved units. Decided to replace only one of them with the stacked drawers and get rid of the other single drawer. The difference on the quality and thickness of stainless steel on the old vs the new is night and day. The old ones had zero nicks, zero dents after 10-20 years of use. These bend even by pushing them in between the cabinets. Second thing - they run loud. Old ones were very quiet. These are very loud and in drain mode are so crazy loud. Not great for open concept home. I think I should have tried replacing with an older model, but liking the flat front, we went for it. I put my old/old utensil caddy in, because I like the open handle for washing jar rings, etc... Review photos show how curved the steel is and how the dents only show in the right lighting.

Broken pieces found inside machine after Best But/Hawaii Unified installer left. Called Best Buy, they said to use machine and they’ll order replacement which will take another 3 months. Used machine that night, heard clucking noise , went down to check on it C and saw sparks flying from under the dishwasher. Husband quickly turn off power breaker switch to machine to prevent potential fire. Hawaii Unified modify electricity when they swap out my old Bosch machine for this one and charged us $189. I e we infer if he did it right yo caused the sparks flying away?

I “thought” this would be a great concept. Wrong! Never want a dishwasher like this again. Pro: when using top drawer it’s so much better for people with back issues and have a hard time bending. That’s it, that’s the only Pro I can come up with. Cons: extremely small! Can’t fit half of what I put in my prior dishwasher, even using both drawers. The dish prongs are horribly designed, they are so tight together that unless you’re putting just plates, bowls and containers are almost impossible to load. Doesn’t dry at all! I even use the “extra dry” option, when cycle is complete everything is completely wet. Even when I run the machine overnight, in the morning when I unload it, I still have to completely towel dry everything.
