Another Great Evolution of the F&P Top Loader Line

I have been using this new model for about a year now after replacing an older F&P that lasted nearly 20 years with only one call-out to replace the water valves. The new one retains previous features like the very high speed spin that cuts down on drying times, plus it adds some new cleverness including the water management modes. I loved the control panel membrane buttons and simple LED indicators on the old model. I think I like the new control panel touch buttons, illuminated selector knob, LED symbols and time display even more on this one. When paired with the equivalent F&P drier, my laundry now looks like a HiFi stereo system! Plus the damped glass lid is pretty cool too. As for the main purpose of a washing machine, it still washes clothes well in the 'Regular' cycle time of 49 minutes. Spin speed is selectable and seems quieter than the older model even at the highest setting. I made sure mine was level and have had no balance problems to date. Make sure if the delivery crew installs it that they they give you the genuine F&P spirit level with the User Guide. The crew pinched mine but the supplier arranged for F&P to send me a replacement one. These machines aren't built as strong as a commercial Maytag but they'll give at least a decade or two of good service if you look after them. They are definitely good value for money, and F&P has pretty good long-term spare part and service support for their products.

I am so happy with my new machine FP WA8560P1, it washes well, and does everything I need for our family of 5. It washes an incredible amount of items in each load, saving time. To research I read all the reviews I could find relating to all FP top loaders as I had had one previously and was happy to repurchase FP. It is also one of the few brands that still does a central agitator. I worked out what is important to me, which is low noise, decent size but still fits into a cupboard, energy and water star rating, and the ability to purely rinse or spin without doing the full wash. I am so happy with this machine. It ticks all the right boxes. Some of the gripes some people have had regarding noise, clothes becoming shredded, emptying on pause etc. are not issues ... MoreI am so happy with my new machine FP WA8560P1, it washes well, and does everything I need for our family of 5. I went to the Choice magazine to get the noise rating on the different models. I also appreciated Appliances Online setting up the machine so I knew it was done correctly. I do agree with the negative comments on removing the central agitator lid for adding the washing detergent as it is cumbersome, it falls apart, it falls into the drum and could do with improved design. I'm hoping to get 10 years from this machine as I did with the last.

Great value for money and with the economy and capacity for a household of two and a few more when required.
26 May 2021

We searched high and low for the right machine when our relatively new (12months old and another household name machine) died, and we were advised that it was obsolete! We took the advice of our washing machine mechanic and went for this F&P model. We were limited by space and this is just right. We have had F&P products in the past (still have a 30 year old dryer going like new!)The machine runs as silently as a top loader can and washes the loads beautifully with a lint free result. We bought it from the Good Guys online. Great service and nothing was a problem. Made life easy.

Out of Balance from inbuilt obsolescence
24 January 2023

If you buy this machine, the day will come when the machine will become irrevocably out of balance. You will level it, adjust the load a dozen times, turn it off and in again - all to no avail. It will be the tension rod thingies. The bits that keep it level. They will fail. They appear built to fail after X loads or x spin cycles. Just like riding a bike, its not if uou get hit by a car, but when - its inevitable.

Reasonable replacement for old one
29 March 2022

As others have observed: works well; lost option to shorten cycles yourself - is a pain; as ivarious other ‘non programmable things’ that are all now auto. Water draining away after few minutes pause. Also annoying. Depth to bottom of machine - much deeper. I’m 5’3”. Manage on tippy toes. Much larger capacity than old 10kg. 8-9 would have been fine. Washed well. Quiet. Easy to instal - level (takes 2 pple - one holding front of machine off grnd; other rotating black knobs hidden under cream plastic front pieces).

Short wash time and spin only cycle
26 September 2022

Im really happy with this machine. Our previous machines had really long wash cycles - I can do a full wash in 45 minutes. The other feature I value is that you can wash an item by hand and then put it in to spin. Previous models took 20 minutes to either rinse and spin or drain and spin. Its a great machine.

The hefty price does not justify this purchase
29 June 2022

The process with dealing with Appliances online is as always commendable from ease of use on their website to ordering, right through to delivery and setup. The product itself is overpriced and disappointing. The drum in the 8.5kg is deep but not wide and the oscalator is a flimsy fin like piece of plastic that hooks your clothes up. This would have to be the noisiest machine I have ever owned the constant clunking despite being level is terribly annoying. The digital dash is easy to navigate though not knowing what setting it’s on throughout the cycle is not shown just a timer. In hind sight I should of chosen an LG.

WA1068P1 has water leak from the top.
6 November 2021

WA1068P1 has water leak from the top. Water drops appear between the plastic top section and the metal cabinet and then run down to the floor. Drops appear all around the cabinet. The auto empty when you pause the machine is VERY VERY frustrating, especially if you want to drip dry and save the water for the next load. Customer service from F&P is pathetic. You spend so much time on hold waiting to find out why nothing is happening. The on-hold music will drive anyone insane.

Was worried - couldn't be happier
1 August 2021

Coming from a classic Maytag, we were really worried about all the negative reviews of new washers.Though we have no idea how long this washer may last (unlike our 2002 Maytag tank which is still running), initial appearances certainly suggest that F&P haven't cut any corners on build quality - it appears in fact to be better made/quality than our old Maytag. We chose the fabric smart over it's sibling due to the conventional agitator and water level control. Ironically, it's full auto setting seems to get the water level perfect and we have not as yet needed to play with manual water levels. The machine is a beast, consuming huge loads and finishing in time frames we're not used to.
