I love this blade! It cuts through paper, cardstock, cardboard, and even leather like butter! I’ve been redoing my daughters doll house and every piece is so small. This blade cuts through those small, tight places easily and effortlessly. I’ve also used it to trim pictures for frames. It also is so easy to replace the bade. The bottom opens and the blade comes off. It’s definitely very sharp and the cover it comes with ensures you won’t be cut. The blade fits perfectly in my hand and it grips very well. The color is great and matches well with the entire collection. I’ve also used this in conjunction with my Cricut and it absolutely is a great tool to use with crafts. Fiskars heavy duty easy change detail knife with a #2 blade is a great all around craft and utility knife. Easy unlock and lock is the easiest and most secure blade locking system that ,I have experienced. The contour indent is comfortable and adds leverage and controlled accuracy for cutting designs in an assortment of materials. For left or right hand just unlock the blade and rotate to fit your style. The #2 blade is strong, ridged ,and very sharp, so be careful. The only thing that gives me pause is the knife protector (sheath) Extra care when when withdrawing the knife and especially when inserting into the protector (sheath),it has a ribbon and open design, and may cause the blade to exit through those openings and put your fingers in harms way.

I received the Fiskars Heavy-Duty Easy Change Detail Knife With No 2 Blade for completing an honest review of the product. It arrived on the right day because I had just received several deliveries in large cardboard boxes that needed to be cut down in size for disposable.The blade is very sharp and cuts through heavy cardboard like it is butter. Also the shape of the handle makes it easy to control and comfortable to use. I also like the safety cover for the very sharp blade.The information indicates that it is good for cutting matte board, foam core, plastic, cardboard, wood, EVA foam. I will definitely recommend this knife to friends.

There is an orange tab in the handle that lifts to unlock the blade for replacement or change; however, I think the directions should have been more specific as to installation and securing the blade. When I first took the knife out of the package, the blade was quite loose and just fell out in my hand; even though there is a small hole near the end of the blade, there is no pin in the handle to secure the blade. The blade is extremely sharp and was so loose, it would have been impossible to use without creating a safety issue. I have not yet needed to cut thick or dense materials such as wood or leather where pressure is required, but I have used it on fabric and heavy cardboard and it cut through them with minimal effort. My older detail knife was the thickness of a pencil and it was hard to hold onto. Not this new detail knife by Fiskars. It is very easy to hold onto and will not slip out of your hand.Speaking of holding, the way that the handle holds onto the blade is a better design too. The materials this is made with are very well put together it’s soft for holding and comfortable so it doesn’t feel awkward. The way it cuts is a way that’s safe and you don’t feel like you will hurt yourself or anyone close to you. I really like the way it’s made it’s a safe product. The colors are even put together well so you can see where you are cutting and where your end mark is. It has a holder for the blade that will not come open unless you unclip the holder which is at the bottom of the handle. The blade will not dislodge without you unclipping it. I also like the cover for the blade it’s simple and easy to remove. Please keep away from children unless you are monitoring them it is sharp and works very well.

I was hesitant to buy this, since ergonomic handles are designed primarily for right-handed people and don't always work for lefties, but it was the only option with a #2 blade at the store at the time, so I grabbed it. I'm so glad, b/c it's wonderful! It truly is comfortable to hold, even for a lefty, and I cut an entire armor set from 6mm foam without it slipping once. I love that I'm not constantly having to re-tighten the chuck that holds the blade like traditional hobby knives (b/c again, they're designed for righties so my lefty grip will unscrew those as I cut) since the blade release is at the other end of the handle. The product, Fiskars Heavy-Duty Easy Change Detail Knife With No 2 Blade, 165170-1002, is just awesome! I used this to help lay down contact paper and cut it, and it works wonders! I do plenty of crafting using cardboard and thick paper. This works great with this material. Also, use it for cutting excessive paper off pages instead of pulling out my big desktop trimmer. I find it very easy to use because you have so much more control. Feels good and comfy in hand. The blade is very easy to replace. It is so easy to guide it where it has to go. I do recommend this product, great quality and cuts great.
