I bought this tool today because I was fed up of mowing weeds not lawn. The tool is very effective and will pull the weed with the root. The area looks like the surface of the moon and I am now filling the holes with compost and grass seed. It is very quick at removing the weeds and will save a lot of back breaking digging. To be fair the holes left behind are a fraction of the size, had I used a spade it would have look like a building site. I waited for some rainfall before I started. This softened the ground making the tool easier to use. I would like to see some improvement in the build quality, The handle could do with a softer grip or be spring loaded to remove the pressure from the hand, The foot grip/lever is plastic. Although tough I think time will tell ... MoreI bought this tool today because I was fed up of mowing weeds not lawn. The tool is very effective and will pull the weed with the root. Overall it saved loads of time and effort, hopefully in a week or two I will have a lawn not a dandelion bed. Defiantly one of the best tools in the shed.

I’ve been using this for over a month now and have to say it’s the best weeding tool I have ever used. I don’t know the names of the weeds in my lawn but I know that this tool easily plucks them out.I’ve used the handheld weeding tools, which are good, but with the Fiskars weed puller you can just walk around your lawn without getting on your hands and knees and just pull them out. No bending your back, just stick the prongs over the weed push down with your foot and pull it out, roots and all. It’s as simple as that.I definitely recommend this tool, it is so easy to use and it’s quick and effective.

I'm an estate gardener and I use this every day! The dull edges don't cut the roots like a hori hori (aka soil knife), so the weeds tend to come up by the roots. Even though this tool has a "serrated" edge, it's so dull that you can't cut anything with it. If you want a cutting tool, get the Fiskars hori hori. I also use the hori hori regularly because it works better for cutting the runners of plants that tend to spread from the roots, but when you want to avoid cutting the roots (or irrigation lines) and get the plant up whole, this is the ultimate tool for the job. Highly recommended!

I’m glad I bought this product. It’s very easy to use and has quite a strong pull. Releasing the weeds is a breeze and as shown in Bunnings’ advertised video, you really can fling the weeds a few metres away into a waste/compost bin.As the lever on the ground is plastic, I have concerns about its longevity. I haven’t had any issues with it so far but think a metal one would’ve been better. It doesn’t handle uneven ground particularly well but that’s easily worked around by placing the weeder at a slightly different angle. As it pulls the roots out (as is best practice), it will leave some holes in the grass if the weed’s roots are long or extensive. That’s easily remedied with a small handful of soil. Where roots are shallow, it hardly leaves a hole.Overall, ... MoreI’m glad I bought this product. What a piece of kit! I'm addicted! I've never removed so many weeds or felt inclined to! Let's face it, getting down on your hands and knees to get these suckers out of the ground is a real pain. However, with this it becomes a pleasure. Why? Because you can achieve so much so quickly! I can't say it's effortless but it's certainly a lot easier than before. Worth every penny. It will save you time and a bad back. Yes, there are cheaper versions out there but you get what you pay for, right? All in all, 10 out of 10.
As others have identified, the concept of the tool is brilliant. The problem is that in practice it only survives when used on soft soils. If your soil is firmer, specifically with a higher clay content (as is evident in many Australian residential settings), the tool is highly susceptible to breaking at the lever as shown in other reviews.I used the thing for a couple of months with "no problem" until the dreaded crack one day and then it was largely game over. At least managed to get a hassle-free return, but looks like it's a not fit for purpose outcome in many typical situations.
I bought the weeding tool this week and have spend an hour, or so, using it. I removed very large to small weeds in compacted but soft soil.I am in my 60s and relatively fit, and consider it is far easier to use and much quicker than the traditional 'kneel down and use the small hand tool' method. The action requires very little physical or mental effort at all.The item is extremely easy to use and is light weight. It was not tiring to use at all.To demonstrate how simple it is to use, my 6 yo grandson used it very effectively and quickly from the get go. Having said that, he is the smartest and strongest boy in the world. :)While it is not a cheap item, its warranty will outlive me and it should be good value for the money in the long run.I highly ... MoreI bought the weeding tool this week and have spend an hour, or so, using it. I brought one of these about a year ago or more and worked like a charm, big weeds, small weeds did the job. Until hubby broke it. Then we went and brought another. Half an hour in with moist wet soil the new one broke. The original one I owned on the same weeds would have been fine. So we returned it and got a new one. Brought that home and again within not even half an hour with the same soil conditions it snapped again. Still have to return this one. Won’t be buying another. Have to find something better.
Like many other reviewers said here - this item is very easy to break. I had my working for about half an hour before the plastic base cracked. I knew the plastic part was fragile and didn't put too much pressure on it, but still, it broke. Took it back to the store and got a replacement, no questions asked (thanks Bunnings for great service). At the same time, I got another similar item - Cyclone Stand-up Weeder Timber Handle. This one does pretty much the same thing, works by the same principle, is priced twice as cheap, does not have plastic parts and looks like a sturdy item. Do yourself a favour - don't buy Fiskars 4 Prongs Xact Weed Puller; look at the cheaper, but the better alternative - Cyclone Stand-up Weeder Timber Handle
I was pleasantly surprised that this weed puller does exactly what it is advertised as being able to do. You simply find the centre of a weed, push the puller into the centre of it with the aid of your foot, then remove your foot and pull the weed puller towards you and it easily extracts the weed from the ground as shown in several Utube videos. The slider then ejects the weed into a bucket or whatever container you use. Unfortunately, and it is a big unfortunately for me because I have lots of weeds in my lawn, it also extracts the plug of soil in which the weed roots are growing. This leaves a 2" (5cm) hole in your lawn...in my case, lots of holes. If there are several weeds growing together you can end up with a huge hole. I had to go round filling the holes ... MoreI was pleasantly surprised that this weed puller does exactly what it is advertised as being able to do. I had to go round filling the holes with compost and sprinkling grass seed on top...the birds thought it was Christmas! The weeds are gone but I have lots of brown patches of compost...at least the weeds were green!
