Five Children and It [Book]

Edith Nesbit was a mischievous child who grew up into an unconventional adult. With her husband, Hubert Bland, she was one of the founder members of the socialist Fabian Society; their household became a centre of the socialist and literary circles of the times. Nesbit turned late to children's writing. Her first children's book, The Treasure Seekers, was published in 1899 to great acclaim. Other books featuring the Bastable children followed, and a series of magical fantasy books, including Five Children and It also became very popular. The Railway Children was first published monthly in the London Magazine in 1905, and published as a book in 1906, which has been in print ever since. I've read this book many times before but it never fails to enchant me. What struck me most on this reading was Edith Nesbit's playfulness. A wonderful old classic and a must-read.

Lovely kids classic with impeccable presentation.

All books from this collection are gorgeous! Kind of pocket size with beautiful hardcover, golden decorative edges and meaningful afterwords with why this book is relevant and what some context of authors life. This one, 'Five Children an it' is a kids books that has a good sense of humour and interesting adventure. It puts you back in time, twice if you are an adult, in the view of early 1900's kids playing around. I would recommend this book for anyone that enjoys reading.
