I went on a short 20 mile ride today through muddy tails in moderate rain and deliberately rode through every puddle I could see to test these boots out. I arrived home with totally dry feet and still pretty warm too.I hoped the bike and boots off to clean off most of the mud and the boots coped with this too. I have had these boots for 3 years now and I find them to be a great product. If buying I would suggest a minimum half size to full one size bigger than your normal shoe. Great fit but sometimes hard to get into them esp with waterproof socks on. As a result this year I ripped the inner of the boot. Not great.The boot sticks brilliantly to the pedal studs and if you keep them clean they will perform better in the wet. I would recommend esp for Scotland and winter and early spring trips.

Being in Arizona, I typically deal with heat and dust, not cold and rain. I usually ride wearing the Freerider and Trailcross XT from Five Ten and have found them to be a great MTB shoe for the desert. When I took a MTB trip to northern MN in the fall, where rain was predicted, I picked up a pair of the Trailcross Gore-Tex mid height and they didn't disappoint. Dry and comfortable right out of the box with no break in, or hot spots. Would recommend.
These seem very well made shoes. I’ve only done 26 miles in them so to soon to comment on durability. They grip the pedals very well.I bought a half size bigger because I needed to with the Trailcross LT shoes, but these are roomier and I should have bought my usual size. They still fit ok though and given I bought them for winter riding it means I can wear thick warm socks without them being too tight.
These are a good winter version boot of my usual Five Ten MTB shoes. They have a similar honeycombed sole which sticks well to flat pedals. The high cut and waterproof uppers protect the feet well. Following advice I bought large to allow thicker winter socks. The only drawback is the difficulty of putting them on! For an agile, flexible and strong youngster it may be no problem, but for me it’s hard work as the entry point is very narrow and tight. They would be much improved with, say, a waterproof Velcro joint up the rear face to allow easy fitting.
Just back from some very demanding mountain biking in Kinlochleven area, with 9 hour days in the saddle, and these shoes are very comfortable. They protect from the shock of cold water and provide good support when pedalling. The grip on wet rock when crossing a river on wobbly stepping stones was awesome. The grip was good on bog for the compulsory “hike a bike” sections
These are used mainly on a gravel bike with flat pinned pedals. The grip of the Stealth soles is excellent without any slippage. The gore-tex lining keeps the boots waterproof and the compressed collar prevents water or dirt entering the shoe, although this does make them tight to get on. The insulation, however, is only average and thick socks are needed when it is cold. The shoes are also tight and sizing is poor. If you intend to wear them with thick socks I would recommend a whole size up from your normal shoe size.
Wore the shoes today for a 1hour 30 minute ride in Brechfa forest in Wales, they stayed dry for around 40 minutes but then I could feel that unmistakable squelch! Luckily I had waterproof socks on! They are really tight to put on so I'm surprised water got in! By the end of the trail I pulled them off and tipped the water out of both! My riding buddy had the exact same pair and his were wet inside like mine! So not an isolated incident, we both bought them in different shops! Save your money buy some cheaper shoes and good waterproof socks!
Reviews on sites I trust said these were great / near perfect and they are not.Ankle cuff is pretty awkward in person, especially putting on/taking off. Very defining “feature” of the shoe - so unless you really want it to seal yourself in (with rain pants) think hard if you really need/want it.Sole is stiff and they’re reasonably light, but two (non-cuff related) issues I had were: (1) a lot of “head space” above my foot and (2) laces. I know a lot of cycling flat shoes have laces but its a dumb idea. Flat pedals have pins/spikes. Bikes have chainrings. Neither plays well with looped laces… so make sure you tuck them in!
