Steel cutter doesn’t hold an edge for long at all. Basically blunt after one tap seat. Went to do the second and it’s taking off about as much as sandpaper would. Waste of money.

I had previously attempted to smooth the seat of this tap using a re-seater with a tapered thread claimed to be suitable for 1/2" and 3/4" taps. The tap continued to require much force to turn off. When taken apart it was obvious that the seat was not at right angles to the tap spindle. I blamed this on the re-seater I had used and so bought the Fix-a-tap re-seater which screws into the thread in the tap body. I found it difficult to tighten the new re-seater in the tap body because most of the screw-in portion disappeared into the hole in the wall leaving nothing but another thread to grip it with. I eventually tightened the re-seater in the tap body and carefully cut the seat smooth and flat over its full surface. On re-assembling the tap with a new valve and washer I found the tap still difficult to turn off without dripping. The tap was obviously manufactured with the body thread not properly aligned with the seat. This is not the fault of the Fix-a-tap re-seater but of the tap manufacturer but the problem of tightening the threaded guide section of the re-seater in deeply recessed tap bodies still remains. Other re-seaters have longer guides and can be tightened with a spanner.

Refinish the tap seat on both cold and hot water taps with no problem. The hot water tap seat has big gouge on it and the tool accomplished the job excellently.

Bought one because the kinetic is out of stock. And it did not fail to disappoint, the cutter is not center, off by about 0.5mm.
I spent 50 minutes refacing the seat on a Coroma tap. The cutting head of the Fix-A-Tap tool could not cut this taps brass. I used cutting paste and after 50 minutes and multiple attempts I managed to lap a reasonable surface onto the seat. If you are after a quality tool to reseat you taps easily this tool isn't it.VERY DISAPPIONTED. (DON;T BUY IT).
For about $3 more in the tool department they had a longer more versatile one. This is a common failing of Bunnings--sometimes no easy comparisons side by side. I only found out after wasting my dough on this model. It wouldn't quite reach my tap seat.
I used this to try and fix a leaking shower, I tried several times but couldn't stop the drip! I ended up buying the hydroseal one that attracted to a drll and fixed it in about 30 seconds
Absolute junk. The cutting head can't even cut brass.Bought today, will be returned tomorrow.Bunnings, read the reviews and take this garbage off your shelves please.
