I purchased Skogsö to replace my trusty old Halti shell jacket. Wanted to have a jacket with some breathability, something that I can wear year-around and is not too baggy. I am 180 cm / 82 kg, with 95 cm waist. I have size M which is fits perfectly: I tested that I can wear a light down jacket under the jacket with enough mobility. Zippers work flawlessly, cuff buttons are fine for my smaller than average wrists/hands. After wearing the jacket with a fleece jacket + long sleeved undershirt in near zero temps, I'm happy how it keeps me warm even though it's just a shell without any liner. Compared to my previous shell, it definitely breathes too.

Amazing jacket with great fit! Highly recommend for hiking, casual daily use, work & so on. Sits very nice, like a tailor-made product. Sizes match perfectly. The padding is not too dense & will work till maybe 0 or -5deg.C, but if you live in mountains, then you need a warmer jacket for cold winter. There are plenty pockets, you can fit all the stuff that you have with you. Deep Sea blue colour is just on another level!

As a field shirt, 5/5 with incredible quality, no manufacturing defects even down to the stitching. Lots of pockets, great construction and durability. As a jacket, 1/5. It's not really a jacket. It's one layer of medium thickness poly/cotton. It wears and feels exactly like a military field shirt. It's the sort of jacket that absolutely requires a mid layer to provide any level of comfort or sensibility. For what it actually is, it's excellent.

It’s hard to go wrong with Fjallraven
7 March 2024

Nice long sleeves and longer jacket back work well for my 6’5” frame. I bought a large. Quality construction with G-1000 fabric. A well shaped hood that is practical to use. Light enough to wear around unzipped indoors, but heavy enough to provide a degree of warmth outdoors. Rolls up small for packing into a backpack. Leather zipper holds, adjustable hood are pluses!

Of the Highest Quality Money Can Buy!
22 February 2023

Like every product I have from Fjallraven, it is of the highest quality clothing money can buy. Some people complained about the sleeve length but this is silly, just button the snaps on the wrist and the sleeve won’t go past your wrist then. I like the longer sleeves when unbuttoned because it’s more protection when I need it and easy to snap up when I don’t.I won’t go into too much detail on this as there are tons of reviews that talk about how great their products are. I’m here to talk about sizing since that’s what I struggled with before purchasing this jacket. For reference I am a medium in 80-90% of clothes and a large the remaining 10-20% of the time. I have a 39” chest, 32” waist, have a sleeve length of 32-33 inches, am 5’ 11” tall and weigh 175 lbs. ... MoreLike every product I have from Fjallraven, it is of the highest quality clothing money can buy. I have a 39” chest, 32” waist, have a sleeve length of 32-33 inches, am 5’ 11” tall and weigh 175 lbs. All that said, this jacket fits great in a medium and even allowed me to layer up underneath. In the above photos I am wearing a cotton T-shirt as well as a Polartec pullover fleece under the jacket and I have plenty of room without it feeling tight or uncomfortable. I could easily have added a merino wool shirt under the Polartec as well with no problems. As far as water repellency goes it was such right out of the package. I wanted basically waterproof so I mixed up some “Greenland wax” myself consisting of 90% gulf paraffin wax and 10% beeswax. Poured into bar using a soap mold from hobby lobby. After it hardened I used it to put a heavy coat of wax on the hood and shoulders and a lighter coat on the rest of the jacket with the exception of the armpits because I wanted them to vent as much as possible. The pic of the jacket where it looks frosted is before melting the wax in. The other pics are after melting it into the fabric.I melted the wax into the cloth with a hairdryer and then tossed the jacket in the dryer on high heat for about 10-15 minutes with some other clothes to ensure it was evenly soaked in everywhere.Overall I’m very happy with this jacket. I got rid of my synthetic rubbery rain jacket because I hated that it didn’t breathe and wasn’t as durable in the woods as this one will be. Hope this review and sizing info helps someone.

Perfect all-around shell

This is my first Fjallraven, and so far I love it. My normal practice with jackets is to always try to have them do double-duty, and try to make my more "technical" backpacking/hiking gear work for my more everyday and casual situations, too. Having gotten tired of my ultralight backpacking shell not quite working very well at the dog park, I decided on this Skogso jacket as something to slot-in for casual everyday wear and non-technical adventures. The jacket is perfect for this type of use. It's light enough to be packable and not feel like I'm constantly overdressing for moderate conditions, yet heavy enough to feel sturdy and substantial. It's light enough to be packable and not feel like I'm constantly overdressing for moderate conditions, yet heavy enough to feel sturdy and substantial. It provides completely reasonable weather protection, and has a lot of the same high-end details that you'd find on a technical shell. It's also a jacket which simply *feels good* to wear. I'm not even completely sure what I mean by that, but most technical shells don't really impart a feeling of relaxed comfort when you're wearing them anywhere other than out in the wilderness. I'm not sure why that is, but this Skogso jacket doesn't feel that way. It feels good and looks really sharp. You can wear it out for solid protection on a wet and blustery beach walk, and feel comfortably casual when you duck straight into a pub, afterword. And the really great thing about it: I honestly think it would work pretty well as an actual, technical shell, even in a light mountaineering type scenario. I may be rethinking my whole approach to outerwear, in general, and start making my more "casual" jackets work as my "technical" wear. The Skogso jacket blurs the line enough to make me think that maybe one type of jacket really can do it all. I was skeptical of the G-1000 fabric, but so far it seems great. It's not ultralight, but probably light enough, and seems to hold up to heavy winds and pretty steady precipitation. The sizing is interesting. I would say that it runs fairly large, based on the measurements cited in the sizing chart. I'm 6' even, around 175 pounds, with roughly a 41-42 inch chest, and the size medium fits me with more than plenty of room to spare, for layering. If I'd have ordered a large, which I was initially going to do, I'd be swimming in that size.

Rain Jacket +++
12 September 2023

I purchased this jacket for wet and cool weather in Stockholm and Copenhagen. I even did a full waxing before I left which was super easy to do. Check out a video to do it correctly.Fortunately the weather was warm and dry so I did not get a proper chance to check out the jacket for its main purpose. But fall in NY is coming and I plan to put it through its paces. And I did wear the jacket on the flight overseas and it was great to have.I love all of the pockets and compartments this jacket has.I can't rate the performance until my first walk in the rain.

Stylish and durable

I got this last fall as a durable everyday shell. It works well by itself in spring/summer temps and layers nicely for winter activities. The first time I wore it out in the rain I was gardening in a medium-heavy rain for an hour or so, and when I got back inside the rain had soaked through to my shirt around the neck and shoulders. I then liberally applied Greenland wax to the hood, neck, and shoulders, using a blow dryer so it would soak in, and since then I haven't gotten wet.(It's also worth noting that you can bring this or any Fjallraven product to one of their stores and they will happily do the waxing for you for free)Sizing is a little on the large size -- I'm usually a small or medium, but with this one I was choosing between extra small, which would ... MoreI got this last fall as a durable everyday shell. I went with the small. The arms are cut a little long so you can climb / reach above your head without tugging any of the rest of the jacket out of place. It's great for that, but when my arms are at my sides I do need to have the wrists snapped tight or else the sleeves hang down over my palms to my knuckles.

Tough/ good wind and water protection
12 December 2023

First off I like Fjallraven products for their quality. I beat things up clothes and vehicles (I have my truck rhino lined for a reason). As a wildlife photographer I am in the hills a lot in all weather conditions so I can say I have beat this thing up even in the short time I have had it and expect it to keep up with the other jackets I have with the same material. For those days that I don't need a insulated outer layer but also want something that won't get shredded by the underbrush this jacket is perfect - lots of pockets for random photo gear - extra batteries, SD cards - off the shelf this isn't as water/wind resistant as I would have hoped but a quick coat of extra wax did the job :).

Saw this jacket when I was looking for something to wear during the in between weather here in Vermont while hiking and backpacking. Came across this and just knew it would be perfect. It’s light enough so you don’t feel weighed down, but not too light that you feel you’ll destroy it quickly. Fjällraven is known for high quality gear, and this definitely lives up to that stigma. I love the pockets strategically placed for easy access to stowed items. The material feels like a heavy wrung cotton shirt, so breathes easily when trekking through the woods. Water rolls off this jacket like a ducks feather, and if you need to re-waterproof it, you just use the Greenland wax and a blow dryer. I would not recommend an iron to reapply the wax, as it is harder to gauge the ... MoreSaw this jacket when I was looking for something to wear during the in between weather here in Vermont while hiking and backpacking. For size comparison, I’m 183 CM tall, weigh 79 kg, and an average build. I wear a large and fits perfect.
