25 lb. Keeper

Was able to use this to reel in a 25 lb keeper Golden the other day! Nice leash that doesn't tangle. Decent amount of ribbon (no cord) keeps the busy pup manageable. It has wrapped around trees, shrubs and mailboxes with no wear or issues. Also attached a slick Earth Rated Bag Dispenser to the handle that stays out of the way, but is there if I need it. Also partner it with a sturdy harness from Chewy. Like the ribbon over the cord. Like the shorter lead verses the longer. Just the right size for a 25 lb pup. Handle offers solid grip, good performance, and enough room for a bag dispenser. Chose the red as it seems to draw the pups attention to me and the task at hand.

I just bought this leash and first time with this brand. It started catching immediately and wont retract! You have to move the leash around in the handle to get it to retract. By then my dog was out in the street! She almost reached the other dog AND a car had to slam on brakes. The lack of retracting without a lot of manipulation keeps happening. I am reaching out to Chewy for a refund.

Great leash
9 October 2020

I really wanted a lightweight retractable leash, since my dog is only 7 pounds and I felt like my previous leash was weighing him down. However, I didn't know what size to order. I was into the fully corded look and feel of the x-small, but I liked having the extra length of the small, so I ordered both and figured I would test them out and see which worked best. The first time I used the x-small, I got stopped by people asking if I was walking my dog off-leash. The cord is so thin that it is extremely hard to see! Some people also stopped to warn me that leashes with thin cords like that can get wrapped around your dog and cause amputation. While I see the concern, I felt the leash was easy enough to control with my dog that it wouldn't have been a problem. ... MoreI really wanted a lightweight retractable leash, since my dog is only 7 pounds and I felt like my previous leash was weighing him down. While I see the concern, I felt the leash was easy enough to control with my dog that it wouldn't have been a problem. However, I succumbed to the pressure of knowing that these people would judge me if they saw me continuing to use that leash, and decided against the x-small. Then I tried the small, and its perfect. there is a small ribbon section that attaches to your dogs leash/harness, so the issue of the cord wrapping and causing damage isn't there. I was worried the ribbon would feel too weighty, but it is just as light and easy to use as the corded section. Plus, the full 16 feet is super nice. Additionally, the x-small does not have a place to attach poop bags, while the small has a slot for fitting a specific bag carrier (sold separately but pretty cheap). The cord is still super thin though, which I think is a plus, but be careful of people not looking where they're going and accidentally trying to walk through your leash! I highly recommend this leash, it gave my dog much more freedom on our walks, and looks and feels super sleek.

Ideal leash for control, no trips or tangles!
25 September 2021

I've used Flexi leashes for literally decades, with four different dogs between mine and my family's, ranging from 10 lbs to 125 lbs. They are the only leashes I like because they prevent the dog from getting tripped up, are comfortable in my hand, and I can bring the dog closer to me quickly with just one hand. Flexi has reliable comfort and quality (other brands/knock-offs I've tried have had uncomfortable ridges in the grip and one pulled off the spool). I'm sure there are some dogs and owners for whom retractable leashes aren't the best fit but, for most, it seems unnecessarily difficult to use anything else! You may initially need to practice the "brake, pull back your arm to bring the dog closer, release brake and move arm forward" maneuver to have the best control but it quickly becomes second-nature. These leashes are great for walking one dog and essential when walking two at the same time (two leashes, one in each hand). I'm still using a Flexi Standard3 I've had for many years with my 100 lb shepherd and just bought the large Classic for our new dog. Both feel similarly comfortable, easy to brake and release, and the newest one has the slot for optional attachments that's been a really nice upgrade (I tricked it out with the detachable box and also the velcro side light - highly recommend both!).

Impressive Flexi Classic Retractable Leash
25 May 2023

Its durable build, retractable feature, and ergonomic handle make it a must-have for active dogs. The leash offers freedom and control, with a smooth retraction mechanism. The comfortable handle and reliable safety features, like the secure snap hook and reflective components, add extra value.Note: the unit is large; I have big hands; I have a big Thai Ridgeback, so it's perfect, so just letting others now to keep an eye out for that

Poor design
3 March 2023

I loved the Flexi with my mid-size dog so I choose these for my two 6lb, toy sized dogs. I'm finding them horrible to use. While the clasp and gauge size of the leash is appropriate for small dogs, the handle is the sized for a child. During every walk, at least once, when the dogs get to then end of the leash they jerk the handle out of my hand. If you're walking only 1 dog this would probably be fine but w/ two I find them more of a frustration than benefit. Also, the gauge of the cord is very thin. I've only used the leashes 3 times but I suspect the cords will break soon. Overall a poorly designed leash for a toy sized dog.

Quality product that works for a loooooong time!

I like the Flexi brand retractable leashes, as they have proven to be quality products. I'm not sure however that I like the redesign of the handle on the leash. I have leashes that I purchased 22 years ago, and I prefer the comfort of the older handle design over the current updated version. The older handle is flat on the sides and better allows you to hold two leashes in one hand if that is needed, and for me that definitely is needed. Even holding just one leash in one hand doesn't seem as comfortable with the new design as with the old design, and the balance of the leash seems a bit awkward with the new or current design. That being said, if you've never owned a Flexi brand leash, and you're looking for a QUALITY product, you'll be TOTALLY SATISFIED with your ... MoreI like the Flexi brand retractable leashes, as they have proven to be quality products. I just felt that with an 80 lb. dog on the other end of the leash, it might be time to purchase a new leash. :-)

So I bought this for my Frenchie. Works great and all it BUT I noticed something shocking! That nylon cord is dangerous! The other day when he ran around my neighbors leg out of excitement. Which he always does and we’re use to it. The leash sliced ‘my neighbors leg like a hot knife to butter across the whole back of his calf! I mean instantly! It’s cuts so easily it’s actually kinda scary. Another time the handle part locked up and as I was holding it trying to loosen it to get it to retract. My dog slightly pulled quick and it sliced my fingers real bad. Today walking, my dog went from my right side crossing behind me to get to the left: it sliced the back of my right thigh! He didn’t even pull or ran fast. It gives really deep paper cuts. it’s like a stealth ... MoreSo I bought this for my Frenchie. Works great and all it BUT I noticed something shocking!
