If you need a solid meter to handle all basic functions, the 115 is perfect. I use it for testing and troubleshooting power supplies, A/V equipment, testing batteries and chargers, and basic electronics repair. The battery life is fantastic and I can always trust the readings are accurate. User interface is simple as it gets and autoranging switches quickly to the correct range allowing you to focus on the measurement. Continuity beeper is fast to react which is good when tracking intermittent faults in cables. Backlit display is nice and clear and great when working behind a dark equipment rack.Fluke isn't the cheapest option out there, but once you've used one of these you'll never want to go back to a cheap meter again. My only complaint is the test leads ... MoreIf you need a solid meter to handle all basic functions, the 115 is perfect. They're stiff and a bit lumpy from packaging and haven't straightened out fully. I won't take off a star though because this is the case with most meters on the market.

First, the provided test leads reminded me of a set of cheap jumper cables in the winter; stiff and with a strong memory. Fortunately I had some much better silicone lead sets to use - I probably won't ever use the provided ones except maybe for dirty work - and I gave them a fighting chance - they've been hanging on a peg by my bench for a week now and haven't changed shape, still all zig zag and springy. I've never seen such a lame set of test leads from Fluke, really disappointing and I'd worry about the risk of one of the zig zags hooking on something and pulling the nice new DMM and/or the snagged item off the bench... no thanks. I've never seen such a lame set of test leads from Fluke, really disappointing and I'd worry about the risk of one of the zig zags hooking on something and pulling the nice new DMM and/or the snagged item off the bench... no thanks. The reason I bought this is for the True RMS feature, to supplement my trusty old Fluke 83, and I purchased the 115 instead of a lower cost model so I had RMS current measurement - I expected to be able to at least measure down in the hundreds of microamps with a digit to spare. I should have read the user manual more carefully before the purchase...6A is the lowest current range, which means 100uA resolution - pretty coarse for electronics bench work. I suspect this is Fluke's way of preventing cannibalization of sales of their higher priced 179 model, which has 10uA resolution, or the 87 (0.1uA AC, 0.01uA DC)... Millivolt ranges are likewise restricted; 600mV is the lowest range for both AC and DC - 1mV resolution is pretty pedestrian these days and a $40 off-brand RMS DMM can do better. That pretty much eliminates using this meter for RMS current measurements with an external shunt resistor. Meh. I'll now be looking for a good deal on a used 87. It's a decent, and handy, little RMS meter, but there are plenty of alternatives and Fluke really should do some opposition research into the low cost TRMS DMM competitors - and not worry so much about cannibalization and model family margin preservation blah blah...half of something is still better than all of nothing

High quality multi-meter.

I use this model at work and it is great so I purchased this one for me at home. I use and abuse this model by Fluke daily and it has always held up. I highly recommend the Fluke 115 for bench work and field use. Some of the best features of the 115 is the ability to read frequency and capacitance. It is rare I need to verify frequency but it has saved my bacon at least once in the field.

I should have bought one years ago!

After decades of analog, then non-auto ranging meters, I bought a Fluke 115 to see if the hype was legitimate. The brand was something I noticed when working in two different careers, both where I had frequent contact with HVAC and mechanical engineers who recommended, without hesitation, the Fluke product. Extensive research informed me something like an 87V would be terribly unnecessary for my use, but something like a 115 was ideal.Aside from the basic homeowner/DIY uses like determining continuity or checking vehicle batteries, I was able to use the 115 for my new career as a music teacher where, to save money, I’m constantly repairing instruments, which include several electronic items ranging from speakers and amplifiers to samplers and drum machines. ... MoreAfter decades of analog, then non-auto ranging meters, I bought a Fluke 115 to see if the hype was legitimate. Ensuring solid connections and proper voltage would not only be much slower with a set-range, or worse, analog meter, but I wouldn’t be able to use functions like the min/max button to check battery life or maintain safe voltage levels. I’m also able to gauge Ohms so speaker capacity isn’t overwhelmed by amplifier output. The backlight is great for working in a dark driveway/parking lot or in tight spaces created by rack mounted electronics. I also appreciate having a fuse, unlike the cheaper meters, which would just fry and you’d have to replace. Having buttons large enough and with ample separation is helpful when you’re working with gloves on or sometimes need to press one without looking; the tactile function is a great benefit. Lastly, the overload prevention feature where the meter indicates you’re on the wrong setting is invaluable towards saving the meter and the fuse.Overall; an outstanding meter!

I'm currently working on an OBD1 car and needed something to read the error code being thrown. I'm also reading up on homesteading and setting up power systems, so I asked my electrical engineer buddies for a recommend.THIS was an overwhelmingly positive endorsement. And so far even a newbie like me has been able to figure it out! It feels as solid as the one my dad had when I was little. That thing was basically a sonic screwdriver, in my eyes. I look forward to learning about electrical work and building a home using this to keep me safe and to diagnose any issues I run into / cause.

I've used the Fluke 115 in avionics troubleshooting, automotive/motorcycle, household electrical testing and for small circuits where accuracy is paramount. The back light for the screen is a big deal; great feature. This is my second fluke115. Long story made short; the first one was stolen. If I don't lose this one, I expect it will serve me well and be passed down to a future generation.I wish I had one when I was 16, learning my way around motorcycle repair...could be an excellent gift for someone with serious interest.

We have dozens of Fluke instruments at work so when I decided to have a Fluke branded DMM for my own use, I decided to buy this little 115. It's lightweight and a joy to use. Made in Singapore. Test leads were not as flexible as I would wish but they're still functional and carry safety ratings. The LCD is fine, just get the view angle right. It pairs well with an accessory clamp (i400e). MIN-MAX function worked great for catching inrush currents. In the 3rd photo, this was measured and compared with a Hioki clamp meter's inrush function. The values were similar.

Range/resolution 6.000 A / 0.001 AThat from fluke's own web site implies the meter measures milliamps.Fluke now tells me it only measures 60 milliamps or more. So with a typical fluke milliamp per amp clamp accessory it only works at 60 amps or more. What would you ever work on that draws 60 amps? An entire house? One hundred horsepower or larger motors?Fluke's recommended solution is to spend $200 more for a millivolt per amp clamp on accessory. No thanks, between the deceptive spec sheet and the cheap stiff leads I have bought my last piece of fluke equipment.
