This is probably one of the best inexpensive professional DMM you can find. Designed very well. Fluke quality is excellent. LCD is just the right size with perfect backlight. Lifetime warranty. EDA2 kit includes $145 worth of accessories for just $20 extra. Orange plastic molding is a bit smelly but hopefully it will degas soon.

It's a very complete kit and the quality of meter and the accessories are just superb as usual. There are some other great meters out there but you just can't ever go wrong with a good Fluke.

This is by far one of Flukes premier kits. A great meter with every function you would desire in a compact meter.Excellent cables and probes to meet every demanding use. Strong magnetic meter securing device, temperature probe and everything fits in the included case. I would prefer the case to have additional space for test clip leads and possible a note pad to log data.
I have bought multiple Fluke Meters for our staff over the years and the 179 is the overall favorite. The temperature feature is used often for spot checks around the facility, and the multimeter functions are repeatable and stable. TEquipment was great in getting the additional NIST calibration we require. Other vendors didn't want to go to the trouble for me.Happy customer, will buy again.
I thought I was getting the top of the line accessory kit. It turns out that neither the 179/EDA2, nor the 179 alone come with full-sized, standard screw-on alligator clip test leads! The description states "industrial strength test lead probe kit". The test probes are only about 5" long with their own connectors; The silicone lead extensions are in the kit, but not the probes themselves. And no alligator clips.Meter stand is flimsy and does not lock like the old 87s.A current rating over 10A would be nice.Back light is nice.I expected more for over $300.
This is a fantastic multimeter which included regular testing and clamp probes along with temperature sensor ability. It was a little shopworn but cleaned up beautifully and is in fantastic condition. Now.
A paper user manual would be nice ( I guess I'm just showing my age) so you don't have to go on the website and click thirty different buttons to find it. Anyway, it's a very accurate, well built and easy to use instrument. Traditional alligator clips as an accessory would be nice also, the plunger/ hook style take a little getting use to. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this model (179)Thanks, Tom.
I used various Fluke meters over my 30 year tenure of troubleshooting. I have also used HP/Agilent meters. However, when I started my business I bought this one.This meter is so far the best and most flexible and does everything that I need with ease and precision. We have several of these and they have never let us down. We build sensitive electronics and have them calibrated every year. This model 179 checks most all of the boxes for what we do. Many are over 10 years old and still going strong. By the way, TEquipment had the best price recently, even beating Amazon.
