This is a great entry level tank for saltwater for an all in one.Things I like about it:- Easy to get started with it- The bow in the tank gives my some interesting perspectives- The light is very capable of growing softies and SPS.- Easy modifications can be made to upgrade this tank.- Rarely have to do top offs thanks to the lid.Things I don’t love about this tank.- The filtration is basically just freshwater filtration. It’s ok to get started but long term you’ll want to upgrade.- The light puts off enough heat to create a slight bow in the tank lid.- There is a slot to hide the heater in the back, but it’s made to fit only the Fluval heater, and if you use the protein skimmer then you are forced to use one of those slots for the heater or hang it on ... MoreThis is a great entry level tank for saltwater for an all in one.Things I like about it:- Easy to get started with it- The bow in the tank gives my some interesting perspectives- The light is very capable of growing softies and SPS.- Easy modifications can be made to upgrade this tank.- Rarely have to do top offs thanks to the lid.Things I don’t love about this tank.- The filtration is basically just freshwater filtration. The team at SaltwaterAquarium sent me a replacement right away and I have had no such issues with the second one. So I just recommend giving the seams a look over before filling.

3 stars for solid craftsmanship, cool concept and modern shape.. but the swim space for fish is SMALL and a good portion of the tank is taken up with filter. The floor of it is 11"x11" = 122 square inches. I tried for 2 years to make this work. My fish swim circles and don't school. If you decide to buy any way, the pump can rattle pack filter material around it.. problem solved. The light sensor gets effected by moisture.. I solved this with a piece of milk jug cut and wedged to cover the sensor.FYI. My new 20 gallon floor is 12"x23.75" = 285 inches, which is more than double the side to side swim space of the 15g flex and within minutes my fish were actually schooling.

Great design, stylish look

This is a great looking tank. The curved front is a nice modern design and the white cover and trim so much nicer than the usual black or plain glass look.Really love the lights and being able to change colours or just have the white light, all have +/- buttons to increase or decrease brightness. The reason for four stars not five is it is quite tricky to clean given the back compartment being divided into three smaller sections. The pump is also great, would recommend a second in the spare compartment at the back to help with keeping the tank clean. Love how these are all hidden, giving a really stylish modern look.

Great set for a first-timer!
20 October 2022

I am new to keeping saltwater tanks so I was a little overwhelmed in researching all the things I would need to get started, and I was so glad to find this kit that included all the basics. I have had it set up and running for about a month now and have not had any issues. All the equipment works well and looks sleek in the enclosed compartment at the back. The bowfront tank and curved stand are really stylish together, and I have fallen in love with the adjustable Bluetooth lights.Altogether, a really fantastic purchase for any saltwater enthusiast, but especially a beginner to the hobby. =)

I like most of everything about this 9 gallon aquarium
26 April 2022

For small tank is more professional than others. I like the filter idea, the light and pump separated, and the shape of the glass. My cat was too interested at the top opening; thankfully, I found on Etsy a The Fluval Flex Feeding Door that covers the hole. I also found a lovely waterfall Fountain Nozzle explicitly printed for this tank, instead of the out pump that is too fast. The shipping was perfect, it arrived safe and fast!

I really love the Fluval Flex
13 April 2021

The Flex 15 is probably my favorite tank of the 6 I own. I always end up dismantling the all in one kits, but not this one! This tank offers a ton of room for additional filter media (I added additional sponge and bio rings), and the light is great for growing lower light live plants-pretty much 80% of the widely available plants in the market. I did add an after market submersible light to mine and a timer/dimmer for the included lighting system. I gave this a four rating because the pump cannot be adjusted and the flow rate is really too strong for large-finned fish like bettas. I currently only house dwarf emerald danios and Amano shrimp, but I still needed to slow the flow. In addition to the extra sponge in the filter compartment, I added sponges to the outflow ... MoreThe Flex 15 is probably my favorite tank of the 6 I own. In addition to the extra sponge in the filter compartment, I added sponges to the outflow and it did the trick. It’s an easy fix, but Fluval really missed an opportunity to provide an adjustable flow pump.I completely recommend this tank. It was packed securely and delivered quickly. I really want the 34 gallon now!

I'm really happy with this tank!
6 January 2023

I love this tank. My first non-square tank and it really looks nice. The fish seem to enjoy it as well. I have one female Betta and five Cory Cats in mine. They're "Violet Femme and KD's Catfish Band". I used Fluval Stratum as my substrate and added some betta bulbs as well as a couple of fern cuttings. I started the tank with old water from another tank cleanings. After one week tank with 1/4 water changes every two days using distilled water tank was safe & stable. I'm really happy with this tank and looking into going for a larger one.

Nice tank
15 October 2021

First of all, I know there were reviews out there that claimed that their tank arrived cracked. Mine, however, arrived in a very strong box that was packed inside another very strong box-- All intact with nary a scratch. The unit comes complete with a filter and very cool lighting. I would have given this five stars, however, the remote for the lighting was not working because the battery was dead. Opening the latch to access the battery was difficult beyond imagination and even the guy on the YouTube video on how to change the battery on the Fluval lighting remote had a problem opening the latch to access the battery. Once I was finally able to open the goofy latch, remove the battery, and head out to the store for a replacement battery and got the remote working, ... MoreFirst of all, I know there were reviews out there that claimed that their tank arrived cracked. Would I purchase this aquarium again? Absolutely. It's a good 15 gal tank for the money.

great tank

This tank is the perfect size for my planted, freshwater, fish and shrimp aquarium. It sits on my table next to the television and I enjoy watching my fish swim back and forth while watching tv. It was a quick and easy set up and I changed the filtration just a bit to speed up the cycling. I added more bio rings in the pull out compartment, removed the charcoal packet, added more foam to the left of the pull out compartment and poured a bottle of seed (fish tank cycle fluid) over the foam sponges. I also added some stability and clarity (to help with clearing contaminants and to aid in cycling) as well as a purigen packet (to help with tannins in the driftwood). After testing, my parameters were perfect, the fish, plants, shrimp and snails transitioned the new tank and now, weeks later, everything is healthy and the plants are growing. The light isn't the greatest and the control, unless pointing directly at the little bump on the top, won't work. I have all low light plants however purposely but anything requiring medium or high light will not grow well in this tank. I have about 2 inches of substrate (for plants and snails) in the tank and that too cycled completely in the three days. Very happy with this tank and look forward to enjoying it for years to come.

looks great but......

I bought this Fluval flex 9 about 2 months ago and it looks nice and is a good size. However unlike the Fluval betta tank it first does not come with a heater, and the filter does not have an adjustable flow rate. I bought this tank for a betta and I had to constantly have the filter unplugged because the flow was far too strong and the betta couldn't swim. More than once my betta stuck to the intake grate. This tank would be great for fish that like a higher flow rate but if you have a fish that is not a fast swimmer or has large flowing fins I would not recommend. You can adjust the direction of the water coming out of the filter, but only so much. Being able to adjust the filter strength like on other Fluval products would have made all the difference. This is really the first Fluval product that I've ever bought that I was disappointed in. Only getting 3 stars because there are some varieties of fish that may do well in this environment. For bettas I would give it 1 star
