Without going to too much length, I can safely say that Utopia is my personal favorite dynamic headphone ever. The real magic to this beryllium driver is a balance of absurdly-good detail without losing a sense of intimacy from the music. Utopia has best-in-industry ability to extract absolutely every piece of instrumentation from the recording, place those pieces in precise locations, and make you feel like you are in the room or in the crowd. The lower-end Focal models (Clear, Elex, etc.) don't quite get there. They have dynamics, imaging, and detail but they feel less bound to emotion. I'm speechless - my ears are in heaven. This is definitely close to, if not certainly endgame level headphone in the dynamic hi-fi bracket. High quality product, with supreme sound representation. Do yourself a favour, pop into A2A, try these out with a nice amp, and get saving.

I went with the 2022 model because it just sounded good to my ears and I found it to be smooth detailed and pleasing with a wider variety of music including poor recordings. It's fast, dynamic and very musical. It pairs well with my slightly warm Violectric V550 and neutral RME DAC. It's also nice to look at. The overall black design with a hint of red coming through the grill in the centre works well in my opinion.

I like it - Focal Utopia 2022
24 May 2023

I have Bathys, Px8, Elex, MM-500 and Utopia in my collection. I like Utopia the best. It sounds terrific and not clampy at all. I wear it on everyday basis. I bought it as open box from Headamp. It arrived in 99% mint condition with almost no sign of use. Very nice experience with Headamp.

I've been using Senheiser HD660S for almost three years and I've always felt something was missingBut, today I met Focal's Utopias!! First impressions were the immaculate detail, design and elegance of a state of the art performing headset. The leather is soft and plush and open back cup design is quite exquisite. Leather box with subdividing cases separates all your vital components to complete this power house package. For those who truely enjoy and immersive/articulate/uncompromising powerhouse headphone experience these are worth the investment. The Focal Utopias will put a smile on your face with each recording, the soundstage is FULL of depth and well rounded dimension other headphones would pale in comparison. I really wanted to upgrade my system with a new integrated amp and speakers. But between the 5 figure outlay and a disapproving spouse who complains about the volume I like to listen I decided to go all out on a headphone system. After reading many reviews I decided in the Focal Utopias with the Focal Arche DAC/Headphone amp. The special price on the combo came to about a quarter of what I was dreaming about with a new system. I couldn’t be happier; nor can my wife. I hear detail I didn’t know I was missing. I can stream music from ROON & Tidal that sounds incredibly rich. I can’t compare this system to any other high end headphones; all I know is they sound great. They make my Sennheiser 650s sound like toys. The Arche DAC/amp is also top rate. I do wish it had a ... MoreI really wanted to upgrade my system with a new integrated amp and speakers. I put it on a lower shelf of my rack so I couldn’t use the cool headphone stand so I built a little wooden base so I can still use it (see photo) Over all I’m delighted with my Focal Arche and Utopia headphones

So here we go:The Utopia is my new favorite headphone. The Utopia is a more refined version of the Clear (as operated with Cardas Clear balanced cables). So here we go:The Utopia is my new favorite headphone. The Utopia is a more refined version of the Clear (as operated with Cardas Clear balanced cables). The Utopia is more resolving with better separation between instruments / differentiation between notes, a sharper, more focused presentation and a deeper soundstage. Instruments (mostly listening to 50's - 60's jazz) sound more lifelike and weighty on the Utopia. Two words I would use to describe the Utopia here are full and lush. Not overly sweet or with too much of anything, but just right. Overall about a 20% more enjoyable / you-are-there listening experience compared to what the Clear / Cardas Clear cables offer.Compared to the LCD-5, again the adjective I would use is lush. Listening to the Utopia, the instruments are more full bodied, their presentation is better balanced and the soundstage is deeper, although the LCD-5 has a little wider stage than the Utopia. The LCD-5's clamping is uncomfortably tight relative to the Utopia. However, the Utopia is just a little too loose for my liking. That is the one and only design flaw for me. The Clear has just a tad more clamping force than the Utopia, which is just perfect for my noggin. Overall, I prefer the Utopia.Another reasonable comparison, given the price and quality, is with the Meze Elite. The Elite (as operated with Arctic Cables Argento Series balanced cables with silver conductors to help accentuate the Elite's treble response) lacks the top end, energy and soundstage depth of the Utopia. In comparison, the Elite's top to bottom presentation is a bit unbalanced, accentuating the bass in comparison to the treble, therefore making it sound a bit bloated with some songs. The Elite is an excellent headphone but, again, I would give the win to the Utopia.I received the edition with both the TRS cable (1/8" termination w 1/4" adapter) and a longer balanced cable with Neutrik 4-pin plug. I will still upgrade to a Forza Audioworks Noir Hybrid HPC with dual 3-pin balanced XLR connectors to the amp. I suggest you take a look at this Polish cable company. They are amazing.N.B. Be sure to carefully unwrap and straighten out the Utopia's cables before use. I found the longer (balanced) cable was particularly prone to kinking right out of the package due to arriving tightly coiled.Enjoy!

This pair of headphones popped up when I searched budget headphones. Turns out they have the best noise cancelling and surround sound of any headphones i've had. They are great if your with your girlfriend and they start yelling at you for no reason. They make for a great time with friends as you have no idea what they're saying.Yes I am a trillionaire. I have a girlfriend and a wife and twelve kids so things get loud. These are great for budget headphones.

The end game product but with equivalent accessory

First of all, there's no doubt that this is end game product and you need not to upgrade if you own these. This is a addictive product, and you always want it to be on your ear and when it's not on your ear you feel where is this and you would like to skip your daily schedule just to have this thing back on your ear. You would like yourself to dwelve yourself into the details of your soundtrack, the instruments, how the instrument in your track actually sound, the clear background voices along with leading voice and again instruments that you have been missing previously, the dyanamics, the musicality, everything. But let me clear you about the reviews you already read online. But let me clear you about the reviews you already read online. The reviews you read actually, must have noticed the dac and amp used in for the review. Those dac and amp used ain't no cheap. Ofcourse you paid a hefty sum amount to buy this but unless you pay same equal amount to buy its equivalent headphone amp and dac you won't achieve the sound what you have read in the reviews online. Ofcourse your hefty amount spent on this ain't going waste if you don't have high end dac bcoz this is as it is designed to blow hell out of you. This will what happen if you use this terrific headphone with followingWith a phone having inbuilt dac like lg v60 thinq : you will get all the details that can be achieved but in a compressed manner but still far better than from the headphones you were till now listening to.With seperately purchased dac amp between 50k to 1 lakh rupees like fiio f9 of hifiman ef400 : with addition to above, upto some extent instrumental separation and clarity. But to get what reviewed in online that 3 dimensity and to get out most of the juice out of your headphone, you have to for price equal to it.

Truly Amazing Sound you Must Experience to Appreciate

My music rig is built around the Astell and Kern SE-100 DAP. Through Drew Baird and the staff at Moon-Audio I have put together a audio system that allows me to carry in my hand almost a terra bit of large FLAC/WAV music files on the road. I was searching for a good deal on the Focal Stellia when the Utopias fell in my lap for less than the cost of used Stellia. Since I also own the Jerry Harvey Lola IEMs and the Focal Elegia (closed back) adding the Utopia (open back) was perfect. I love the DAC in the SE-100 but added the IQUBE V5 DAC/Amp just to use the extra power of the amp. This amp easily drives the Utopias. The Utopias will spotlight poorly recorded music noisy amps and DACs that can’t keep up. It embarrassed the headphone output of the receiver in my home setup. The build quality is sturdy with an understated elegant sophisticated presentation. When I purchased the Utopias I immediately bought the Moon-Audio Black Dragon premium cables. In fact my entire rig is outfitted with with Moon-Audio cables connectors and adaptors. So my comments are not based on the stock cables being attached. Silver for both the Lolas and Elegia. Drew guided me to the Black Dragon cable for the Utopia. I love how Moon-Audio Dragon cables deliver the true strength of headphones and IEMs. I conducted over 125 hours of burn in using a combination of digital tones and music of all genres. While I am aware many people think this is a waste of time I can only go by what I hear. As with the Elegias when first used the Utopia out the box with the Black Dragon cable the strike of the cymbals of the drums had a harsh almost painful sound. It was like the note would hit a brick wall. After about 20 hours it softened and the overall sound was more natural. Around 80 hours that sound was completely gone and it just kept getting better in bunches. I did notice it took less break in time than the silver cables. The Utopias are my go to when the house is quiet and everyone is in bed or not at home. I can spend months in a hotel room so I am debating if I want to take them or just stick with the Elegias and Lola’s on the road. The soundstage is addictive. I have now ripped over 200 CDs via the Astell and Kern CD Ripper in FLAC and WAV ( Mostly Jazz). The Utopias bring out unbelievable detail. Back to back comparisons of the Elegia and Lola’s confirm just how special these headphones are. You can hear details and instrument separation you did’t know was possible. Despite being a bit heavy the weight disappears once the music starts. I do think the better the source the more you will take advantage of this awesome sound. If you are not willing to have well recorded music a very good DAC and Amp you will not realize the magic of these headphones and will be better off looking at more affordable options. The big question. Are they worth $4000. You will want the Black Dragon cables so factor in that cost as well. They were not on my radar because of the price. Me getting them at a great deal was a small miracle. If you went purely on sound... no I would say your money could be spent elsewhere for a little less magic. If these are your only headphones and you want to use them on the road or you can’t control your ambient noise...no. By design they are open back and you are limited by the ambient environment. This may sound like a contradiction but the reality is most of us usually lose out to other priorities in our lives. So $4000 for headphones that have listening environment limits and demand caviar is truly a luxury. BUT!!!!!!! know that if you can afford them you will not be disappointed and each time you strap them on the cost will not come to mind. They are that good. It is unlikely you will ever want to part with them. You are paying for magical sound and an audio investment for Focal to keep cranking out awesome products. So consider yourself part of Focal’s R&D financial backers. If $4000 is currently above your adult decision price point do yourself a favor and never audition these headphones..... you will find yourself justifying in your mind your kid can pay for his own ****** college.
