I also like the flexibility provided by the handheld option to seal the zipper bags. I think I would re-use these bags for the same type of dry food, such as coffee beans. I found this very fiddly and a bit time consuming. I would see myself using the FoodSaver weekly and do everything at once. I worry about the amount of plastic this product uses. This all changed when I started using FoodSaver, now there is much more space in my pantry and I sleep easy knowing that items in the sealed bag will be as fresh as the day it was first opened. I’ve also started doing meal preps with FoodSaver, just marinate your fresh meat when vacuum sealing it, pop it in the fridge or freezer and they will be ready to cook at a later date, a real time saver. Hot tip, if you intend to re-seal your food items multiple time, make sure to make your vacuum seal much longer than needed as you need to cut away some of the bag when opening.If you do intend to get yourself a FoodSaver, and you really should, do yourself a favour and get some FoodSaver Preserve & Marinate containers. They are great for everyday use and can easily keep your fresh fruits, fresh veggies and even dinner leftovers fresh for days in the fridge. I tried vacuum sealing watermelon once and it was still fresh and crunchy after four days! You can also use it for food items in the freezer or pantry. A must have accessory for the FoodSaver system.
