As an owner of the original Fossil Sportwatch I was eagerly anticipating this release. I am however very much looking forward to seeing more functionality arrive with the release of Wear OS 3.There are a few functions that I didn't use as much as I thought I would, such as the blood oxygen sensor but had this been in the summer with more time to exercise, I may have utilised it more.The notifications are great though and I have found actually answering calls on my wrist far more natural and practical than I ever thought I would.I did use it for tracking my walking, running and cycling and I found it to be pretty accurate., it was giving my very similar data to others in my running group who were wearing dedicated sports watches so for the price difference I was very pleased!I think this style fits those with medium to large wrists and arms, and even with my big hands, the hard buttons are easy to use and the screen is an ok size to perform 99% of all the tasks (texting is quite tricky, but you can use the assistant to overcome this - or just reply on your phone). There is some software on there that I would remove such as some of the third party watch face apps - but the play store can help you manage all of that and more.For the price point, I think this is a very strong recommendation, with all the different styles available I think there is absolutely one out there for you.

There are plenty of apps to keep you on top of your health, the ones I used the most were the sleep tracker and the step counter / distance travelled.I would highly recommend this device for users looking to purchase a more advanced watch which lets you control the aspects of your day to day activities directly from your wrist, be they work related (emails, calls, calendar amending) or more leisurely pursuits (heart rate, workout tracker).The best part of the watch for me is the design, it looks serious but the inner workings allow for a playful and fun to use device too.

After much trial and error over a number of days I isolated the cause as having location turned on within the Google Fit app - turning that off has restored battery usage to a sensible level so that it comfortably lasts a day.It is also worth mentioning the very fast charging, meaning that if you wear it overnight because you want to sleep track you can then put in on to charge and by the time you've had a shower and breakfast it will be ready for another day.I have also used the Strava app to do a comparison of the GPS tracking against my dedicated sportswatch, and was pleasantly surprised. GPS did eat through the battery, as would be expected (25-30% in an hour), but the recorded track looks very accurate on the map and was within about 0.5% of the distance recorded by my sportswatch over 10k.All in all this is a very good smartwatch. When the new version of WearOS comes, which it should do mid 2022, it is expected to improve battery management, which will make it great!

The FTW4062 is one of the more professional looking watches in the Fossil Gen6 range. I’ve owned a Gen4 Fossil watch and a Gen5 Fossil ‘family’ watch, and the Gen6 is, by far, the best Fossil watch yet. It’s snappy and responsive, the screen is bright and visible in bright conditions and the battery life is greatly improved over previous generations - 1-2 days is possible without much in the way of battery saving, even more is possible if you shut off some features and reduce the screen brightness. When you do need to charge the watch, charging is fast - I managed 5% to 75% within 30 minutes. This has more to do with limitations in WearOS than Fossil, who have tried to add at least some fitness tracking functionality. This should improve with the expected WearOS 3 upgrade. There’s a good selection of attractive watch faces included and a seemingly limitless number more on the Play Store, which can be accessed directly from the watch.There are a couple of elements of the watch that do irritate me, though. Firstly, the leather strap - although highly attractive, it is very stiff out of the box. On the wrist, it squeezes the sides of the wrist but sits slightly proud of the wrist, so the heartbeat and SPO2 tracking is inaccurate. This can be improved by flexing the strap for a few minutes before wearing. Secondly, the large bezel around the screen. Modern smartwatch screen tech has greatly evolved and easily capable of producing a screen that has no bezel, with the ‘live’ part of the screen meeting the metal case. There’s really no excuse for fitting a screen with a bezel on a very modern smartwatch. Besides these two points, the watch is smart, functional and a big improvement on earlier generations. Do I love it? Not quite; but I do like it. A lot. I’d happily use it daily as my main smartwatch and I’m excited to see what WearOS 3 will bring to this watch when it finally lands.

I found notifications to be really easy to read and interact with, and the timing was also much improved than before - Google's efforts on the Wear OS front are definitely paying off. I found the suggested responses to WhatsApp messages were really spot on and actioning them was a breeze. I don't know if it is an issue with the physical sensors or the software, but if you are looking for reliable activity tracking, this isn't the watch for you.In pretty much every other way, especially when it comes to pairing your wrist accessory with going-out clothes, this is a winner. Fossil really, really know how to make quality gear when it comes to the aesthetics... the heft of the band, the way it sat on my wrist, it was all first class. So if you're not bothered about activity tracking, then for pretty much every other use-case I can think of, this is a really compelling product.

It has been almost 2 weeks and I havent heard anything.small issues can happen with these products, but the awful customer service means i will no longer buy Fossil products, and am trying to sell this watch second hand.

My previous 2 smartwatches have been really laggy, but I'm really pleased this watch with the latest Snapdragon™ Wear 4100+ chip is really snappy.I was a little worried about the screen as my previous smartwatch had a dual-layer screen which was great in bright sunlight, but so far (it is winter at the moment) the fossil screen is bright and clear.Also, it's worth noting that at the time I wrote this, the watch is running wear OS V2 and V3 is set to arrive on this watch in the near future. (not all wear OS watches for sale today will get the next big update)Wear OS has 1000's of apps to choose from and one of my favourites is the watchmaker app. I have made a minimal screen which my old eyes can see well. the default screen looks great but i just cannot read most of the info on it!The Battery like is a big improvement too. sleep tracking wasn't possible with my old watch due to battery drain but the fossil can run all night and then charge really fast over breakfast and then it's ready for a full days use.So overall, Apart from the bad start, I still would recommend the watch and I cannot wait to see what V3 of the OS brings us.

As an activity tracker, it all depends on the app that you use but the metrics and data that it collects such as your HR and O2 levels seemed pretty consistent across the various apps that need to get your vitals. It handily compiles all your data and lets you see these in charts, graphs and is available for more interrogation on your phone. As an extension to GPay, this watch is great. We went from Chip and Pin, to Contactless, to Phone and now to watch...super convenient; dangerously convenient.The battery life will easily make it through one day of moderate use (regular notifications, 1hr gym, a few GPay transactions and general procrastination) and I get the sense that with tinkering, you could make this last even longer. I was able to charge my watch fully within 90 mins whilst sitting at my desk and this would be topped up the next day. The charge speed is really impressive and you can easily get 60% in the time it takes to get ready to go out.I would like to see the watch be able to be flipped so that the face is the right way with the buttons and scroll wheel on the other side. The watch was also very sluggish when rebooted or left unworn overnight and it's almost as if the watch needs to come around in a morning but after that I found the watch to be fairly fast and responsive.Overall I like this watch and I think it makes a good mid-range starter point if you like to have a good looking watch with good functionality. It is definitely worth the money and built well.

What impresses me most with the watch is the overall quality with the metal strap and it’s clasp. The screen also provides good resolution and downloadable screens allow you to customise the face. The only concern I have found is the ability to change font size as being slightly older without glasses reading some content is difficult. The notifications from phone have so far all worked well and I have the usual apps installed for social media and a number of smart security products all of which have notifications that display on the screen. The charger is a standard magnetic disc that locates securely on the back and doesn’t fall off easily like some versions from other manufacturers I have experienced. Buttons have standard functions and touch screen is accurate and supports swipe features. The pulse meter seems to match my other smartwatch so would assume is accurate and oxygen monitor seems to work but obviously couldn’t guarantee accuracy. So this watch in my opinion does everything competitors watches do and has the quality look, feel and weight of a more traditional watch but with the added advantage of giving all the smart features such as physical tracking, notifications from phone, take calls from watch and makes calls. The final question is value for money at £299 I would say this is the upper limit but still fair but hopefully with sales if you can pick it up for less then you are getting a good deal.
Owning the Fossil Carlyle HR, Gen 5, I expected to have a good understanding of what I was going to be receiving, and I have to say I was neither disappointed or astounded.The Gen 6 is a step up from the previous generation, but it is not a step change. The processing time of app, and screen changes is reduced; meaning reactivity is increased and makes the use experience much better.Battery life is increased also, with a solid 20-30% battery remaining at the end of the day, whereas my Gen 5 would require recharging in the evening or would hobble to the end of the day at 10% with reduced capability. The stainless steel bracelet is well made, and the clasp is solid. Having also ordered the rubber replacement strap it was interesting to feel the weight difference and realise that the watch body is light and makes a great companion for sport.UPDATE: After further usage battery life continues to surprise me with plenty of battery left into the night. I think I was seeing increased usage the first few weeks due to wanting to play with it and see what's new.I have had a few disconnections, and freezes which is a little disappointing. However, there has been nothing a reboot hasn't resolved and I haven't fully switched it off since owning it so some little glitches are to be expected.Finally, a few people have noticed and commented on this new design and have been shocked that it is a smart watch. Which is exactly why I buy the Fossil devices, I like the unassuming design of them. On the design I was a bit concerned at first it would look a little large on my wrist but it's been fine.
